  4. From the event website: Important notice to Riders that are licensed with a cycling association/governing body. Please be aware that we are at present not sanctioning this race with any cycling association or governing body, we are following the practice of all gravel bike events worldwide. The law states we need to comply to the Safety at Sports and Recreational Events act, 2010, which we will and have so in the past. If a cycling association or governing body provides some benefit to the participants of a gravel bike race, or UCI creates a gravel bike racing category, we will certainly consider sanctioning it with such a body. If you are a member of a cycling association, that cycling association may have rules about you entering cycling events that are not sanctioned by them, please be sure that you understand them before entering.
  5. Me. Been entered since 2019 or 2020; it's been so long ago I can't even remember. Gonna be a bit of a $h!tshow for me tho. Was off the bike for just over 2 months with 'vid issues. Only been doing some low volume easy rides the past 2 weeks. So just going to go and have a chilled ride and see how far I get before I've had enough. Then to top it all, the plan was to camp with my mate. He booked a camp site and has all the fancy camping gear; bloke is like Outdoor Warehouse in his garage. Now he's picked up hassles with his missus and can't go anymore. So I'm left like Nigel Nomates having to "camp" in the back of my Transporter. 🙄 (In-laws have a house in PA tho; secretly hoping I can pull in and spend some time there). But I'm looking forward to it. Should be fun.

  9. Oh no look, I was considering trying to get an e-bike and try just lap the course in 6 hours just to finish it. And make no mistake, there's still a part of me that wants to roll up there and ride. But, sometimes you gotta think the long game. I've also got 70.3 PE coming up. So it makes it a bit easier to sit this one out and try come right before then.
  10. Exactly the same thing here. Actual symptoms were super mild and lasted for 2 days. 26 January. Easy recovery workout. (4 days before I got the C) 25 February. Exact same workout (same power) +31 avg and +38 max

  12. Well, so much for that idea. Head aches, occasional dizziness and increasing chest pains had me back at quack this week. More tests and X-rays and he's issued me a "stop-ride" until I've been to see a cardiologist. No appointments available next week. So no CTCT for me this year 😭 Enjoy it everyone, stay safe and have a lekka ride 💪.

  14. Nooit, I haven't been able to ride a bike for nearly 4 weeks cos of after effects of the 'vid. Got a "sort of" all clear from the doc on Friday that I can start training slowly again, but take it easy. Me: Vo2Max and Threshold all day, every day till I depart for CPT 😜 😆 j/k
  15. They should create a special start batch for the 2nd lappers that goes off at, say 10am or 10:15 or whatever. I'm sure there's a lot of the guys that would take the opportunity. There are peeps starting in 9x around 9:30ish that are going to take 6 hours; we'd still easily make all the cut-off times and finish well before them.

  22. All the best with the recovery. I got it 3 weeks ago. Only had fever and severe tiredness for one day. So the actual symptoms weren't with me for long. Lost my taste for about 3 days (after I finished isolation; go figure) But now. HR still shoots sky high while doing the most mundane tasks, like taking a shower and washing my hair. Haven't been able to do any worthwhile training at all. Tried 30 minutes on the trainer. 50% FTP easy ride results in Z5 heart rate. Next day I have a Whoop recovery score of 26%. I'm completely gutted. Hoping for a miracle improvement this week. Just hang in there and get your health back. Don't rush things. Think the long game.

  24. Very similar situation for me. Last year I did 3:43 after lying down and resting a bit with some cramps. Then did a 2:23 in Tour of Durban 90km. I'm also in 1C. But I got hit with the vid two and a half weeks ago. Haven't been able to train at all and as I'm still coughing up lime green loogies and have tripple digit HR just from walking to the lav, I don't see myself doing much at CTCT this year. Just being able to take part and finish will be an achievement
  25. If they have your PIN code, then yes they can draw money. My colleague at work had his card cloned a few years ago. He drew money from a Nedbank ATM which had a "cloning device" attached to the ATM. It basically copied (cloned) his card, and also recorded the key strokes so captured his PIN that way. He did get his money back from the bank, but I don't recall if they got camera footage or not.
