  1. Adrian at Cycle Lab N1 City on the ID Match Bike Fit. Only 1 on the continent.
  2. Funda-Mentals has refurbish a ton of e-bike batteries. I recommend him all the time and we use him often for out of warranty repairs. I have also recommended many stores to him who have had great things to say Funda Mentals Mobile: 082 859 6086 Office : 021 422 4216 Fax : 086 612 4706 moejy <moejy@funda-mentals.co.za>
  3. The only sealant I found that works is Sludge, specifically the pink one. It's been tried and tested and we used it with our teams at the Epic with 0 issue whatsoever. Punctures wouldn't seal with Stans or Squirt. It seems that ever since they changed their formulas in 2018 / 2019, their sealants just don't work anymore. Sudge however has always worked well and it's locally made in Cape Town.
  4. Thats awesome. Perhaps I will give Irma a try when / if I need another fit done. She's priced quite reasonable as well.
  5. I doubt it includes a physio, it didn't for me but it does take into account previous injuries, current complaints, etc. For example with me my right knee is shot after being in 2 motorcycle accidents and my left shoulder pains horribly after about 1 hour of riding. It took this into account in my setup and I have not had any pain while riding since. At most they just ask what injuries you have, where is it uncomfortable when you ride, etc and all the is put into the system. The system then scans you while your riding and it makes minor adjustments while riding such as increasing saddle height, raising the bars, moving them forward, all while you're riding to find the fit that works for you. There are also test saddles that can be 'loaned' out at a fee which is refunded when you return it, this helped me find a better fitting saddle.
  6. Try Cyclelab N1 City. They have the new IDMatch fitment station that adjusts while you're riding to find the right fit for you. Did mine last week and what a difference it made, so much more comfortable on the bike now, has actually increased my output somewhat. I think they're charging R1500 for the setup and it takes about 1 hour 30min. If I'm not mistaken, they're the only store on the continent with the IDMatch setup station
  7. Just a heads up. It's a bloody pain routing that dropper post cable. Have done one. Take your time, walk away when you get frustrated and come back 10min later after contemplating taking up drinking and smoking. But anyway, welcome to the Orbea family. Remember to register your bike online to activate your lifetime warranty otherwise you only get 2 years. If she gives you any problems, take her to your local Cyclelab or CWC and they will take things further, and likely put you in touch with me 🤣. In all honesty though, amazing bike at an amazing price, I ride an Orca M30 and had an issue with the wheels, got replacements 2 weeks later direct from Spain.
  8. Orbea Oiz H30 is on special at Cyclelab for R39999. Decent bike with lifetime warranty on the frame. 1x12 Deore with Fox suspension
  9. I can confirm that most Cyclelab workshops offer ebike servicing on Bosch systems. Johan at Cyclelab Fourways is exceptionally good with this. Bernard at CWC and Mac at Cyclelab Cape Town are also well versed in servicing Bosch motors. They also know how to service the Bafang M400 systems and also carry spares. Shimano is a different story as the system is 'sealed' and there are no OEM service kits and the motors are deemed non-serviceable and opening the motor will void the warranty. With that being said, I know that Johan at Fourways has had a crack at some out of warranty E8000 motors and has been successful. Generally speaking though, if you dont swim with your ebike, the motor should last many many years.
  10. Give RGT a test run. I've tried the others and RGT does a better job in simulating climbs and descents
  11. My new bike. Orbea Orca M30
  12. In the marshals defense and event organizers defense, Traffic Services were doing a terrible job. I was right at the back in group GS but roads were barely closed from traffic. The traffic cops were getting screamed at by the marshals to close off all the circles and they were just standing around having fat chats. We started over taking cars in the incoming lane in Durbanville, we were all most taken out at a few circles because cars were flowing normally and then when we turned to Fisantekraal, we had to dodge cars and 1 oak in an Audi Q5 all most hit us while we were turning. Tons of close calls along the route though
  13. Was a fun day and also my first race. Sadly had to take the walk of shame up Odendaal but at least I made it.
  14. Would have to be a crappy mechanic to have done a bad join on multiple chains. Does the chain snap and hop in random gears or is it a particular gear? If a particular gear, I reckon the cassette itself is damaged, likely a small bend in it which is causing the chain to bind to the cassette which in turn would cause it to hop and with enough force, snap.
  15. Aluminium frames go through a series of heat treatment steps after they've been welded. Welding up the frame without any heat treating will just weaken the surrounding area and the frame will likely crack again, and pretty soon as well. Best would be to look for a replacement frame unless you want to take a chance of a alloy pipe going up your bum. With that said, I've seen a few frames welded up and still going to years, but its a risk.
  16. You never know, I peed off a lot of people. Perhaps I should ride with some ceramic in the pockets, jokes, don't want to get shot now.
  17. In all fairness. There haven't been any carbon road bikes from Silverback since 2019 in SA other than Scalini but thats a TT bike. But truthfully, I wanted something different.
  18. Hey all So I recently started cycling at the end of November to try aid in strengthening my knees from 2 previous motorcycle crashes. Been in the cycling industry for a few years having worked at Silverback for just short of 4 years and now moved on to another position in the industry. Perhaps some of you had the pleasure of dealing with me. I know I left some with a sour taste in their mouth, sorry about that, literally didn't have a choice. But nevertheless, I'm sure nowadays considering the circumstances, I'll be able to be of better assistance. When I started at Silverback I handled sourcing and compliance which saw me spending months at a time in Asia, visiting many factories and vendors, making sure quality was top notch and productions where moving ahead on schedule. Then was pulled into logistics and warranty support where I mainly handled logistics to SA and warranties and tech support for all 48 countries Silverback was in at that time. Towards the beginning of 2021, I was put in charge of handling all of Silverbacks productions. I then moved on to an importer and retailer who took over Silverbacks agency for SA. Hopefully that's enough backstory of who I am and where I come from Anyway. 2nd ride out with my new Bianchi and I'm coming down La Belle in Stikland, heading towards Bottlelary Road. Green light for me and I'm maintaining about 32km/h. As I'm about to enter the intersection at Cilmor Rd, a taxi coming in the opposite direction decides to do a u-turn, blocking off the entire yellow lane and partially blocking the left lane. I slam on brakes locking up my rear wheel. I managed to come to a complete stop. Not thinking quickly enough, I begin to fall sideways due to my cleats and fall onto the taxi. No damage to the taxi or the bike. The driver has the audacity to just laugh at me while one of the passengers tells me that "you cyclists cause so much **** on the roads". How do you guys and gals deal with something like this, what if the bike was damaged or I was injured.
  19. Hey Greeny Did you manage to come right? If not, drop me a pm.
