  1. Those poeletjies...thought that I'd have to rename my bike from Donkie to Splashy...😃
  2. Did the 60km yesterday. Awesome, totally awesome! Great venue, nice roads, very well organised. Not as flat as promised, and the headwind at the start of each lap was quite annoying, apparently @Attie Koekemoer forgot to arrage with Higher HQ about the wind... Hopefully there will be more of this, it ticked all the right boxes. Definitely recommended!
  3. As mentioned, especially this time of year. I live in Potch, and from November until beginning of April it is no mountain biking for me. The sneezing, wheezing, itching, runny nose, especially when the maize and Smutsvinger grass is in seed is sommer annoying. Allergex eye drops can also be a very good friend in times like this. And a salfie for the itching legs as well. You can thank me later😉
  4. Yes... like @ChrisF said: We are part of the sort of famous "Potch train". Accommodation for next year already booked, in Greenpoint. It can be really quiet regarding traffic and tourists if you get a nice place. It is very important to book NOW! Doesn't matter where you want to stay. More and better options and economically also a lot better. The options that @NC_lurker mentioned is very bakgat, give that some serious thought as well. We usually go with a bakkie and a trailer, which need some space. And for the whole weekend that bakkie stay right where we parked it on Friday morning. Either we walk were we want to be or we get ushered away to some amazing places by @ChrisF and his wonderful wife, Greta. Feel welcome to ask again if you need more info or ideas.
  5. Well...somewehere along the route someone did ask: het iemand al vir Marelize gesien?🙈 I suppose we had quite a few...
  6. Dit was bakgat om jou by Millers Point te kry! Ons doen die volgende jaar weer.
  7. And...the Potch Train is off!!
  8. Well, I am also part of the Berts Bricks Athletic Club...lots of bricks left from the Great Brick Run💪
  9. Ons moet net @ChrisF kan bel...
  10. Dit, Robbie, is vir ons " a foreign country"🤪🤪
  11. Remember the Potch train is almost on its way...no amount of pesticide or foot and mouth disease protocols will prevent us from entering the Cape😎😉. Very looking forward to the trip. Now if only we can have Oom Willie out of bed tomorrow at 3h00...🙈
  12. Ons Antie doen mos nie Strava nie, maar staan by...
  13. Well...we have a saying around here: Potch is 'n lekker plek, net jammer dis so ver van alles af🤪 Those excursions with the Frylincks are the best, the race are at times an afterthought...🤪🤪 The REAL reason for the Saturday expo thing is sort of twofold: one, because we were late, read: Oom Willie was late, we had to hurry; and the second reason is that the naked ridw usually rolls past around that time...enough said!🫣🫣
  14. I saw what you did there...😉🧃
  15. I bought my gravel bike, and duallie, from @RobertWhitehead last year. And I told Robert earlier in the week that he is sort of responsible for some domestique unhappiness because the hardtail, roadbike and duallie look at me very accusingly when I take out the gravel. Every day...😉 A gravel bike is so much fun, and in Potch with our offroad tar streets, a must🙈🙈
  16. Uhm, jaaa... It seems Evo bikes got a plan. Even though we're short, we don't really do 650B, definitely not on road or gravel. Ons is nie só kort nie...🤭😉
  17. Thai is, uhm, quite true🤭... Just be careful, though...after a while some of these hubbers become family! Né @ChrisF and @RobertWhitehead😊
  18. As @ChrisF mentioned we have lots coming from @RobertWhitehead: A dual sus Scott Spark 960 called the Orange Firefly, a Fuji1.One gravel called Kidt, a Merida called Bomber and a Cannondale Scalpel called Donkie. All bike have 11 or 12 speed groupsets, nice brakes, awesome geometry and components for very good prices. It is a tie between Kidt and Donkie for the most enjoyable bike I have ever had. Big thumbs up definitely for Robert!
  19. Golden age...jislaaik! Rerig Robbie, wees slim en sê dis jou enkel wat jy gebreek het se skuld dat jy so stadig is...🤪😎
  20. Me lazy... link please😁
  21. @'Kaze Pete might have insider information😉😉 about when we might experience something along the lines of Beat the Brewer again. That was heaps of fun, very affordable, lots of gees and great (beer) waterpoints😁. Rather do the Brewer than that other event. Been at both, got the so-called t-shirt.
  22. Thank you! Think I'm going to do the training bubble thing...just have to find a bubble...🤣
  23. At least you got to ride! I'm so the moer in actually... Last week one of my running buddies caught a lift with me and coughed like mad. I mean as in Murdoch from the A-Team doing his TB stint kinda cough🙄🙄. Since Thursday afternoon I got a scratchy throat and everything that goes with it, and even though I totally overdosed on meds, I stayed in bed yesterday morning. I was sooo looking forward to this race. Hopefully next year.
  24. So...I consulted with various people living in the Koepel, and got an answer from the horses mouth: @Attie Koekemoer confirmed this afternoon that the roads haven't been better in years 'n years. So, gravel bike for the win ( no pun😊) . My gravelbike is still in Pta, so duallie it will be for me. See you all on Sunday!
  25. No pun, I mean bell🫣🤭
