    I did the 40km, there is a 60km option as well. More than enough climbs, beautiful scenery. One of the water points had beer, and at the finish we received a beer and a burger. All kinds of nice lucky draw prizes and a fantastic vibe.

    Did the previous one. That climb from Venterskroon over Suikerbosrand is tough on cold and stiff legs. Nice waterpoints, friendly people. The finish was a bit of a let down: no one to retrieve your number board or record your time, none of the promised snacks at the finish. Also afterwards heard from the locals that there was no communication about the event and possible traffic congestion. Nice to have local races though. Also a nice event in Parys: Beerhouse Beat the Brewer.

    I once tried the nitrile gloves under my cycling gloves. After less than 5km my fingers were drenched in sweat and almost froze of. Couldn't get life back in them for three hours. Fingers still an issue, no matter what type of gloves or combination of gloves I try.

    In the 50 years before the year 2000 the biggest advance in livestock breeding was Artificial Insemination (AI), but the last 20 years it has dramatically improved with the use of Genomics. You don't have to think about breeding choices anymore and it is quite possible to predict at a very early age how the offspring of certain cows and bulls will perform.
