  1. I'm actually thinking it might be quite an interesting thing to do - probably going to *** off properly but over December/Jan when the Tri season is slow I might just give it a go
  2. TP Virtual has a Velodrome and I've been messing around a bit with training - doing a few workouts on the Velodrome. Got me thinking - is there an hour record for AG's or is it just the official one set by Gert Fouche? I'm seriously tempted to do an hour FTP test on the Virtual Velodrome and see how far I can go in an hour
  3. I'll second that. I've been riding set of Chinese Carbon road wheels that Nick built for me in 2019 and they have been brilliant. He knows his stuff and has some pretty good gravel wheel options
  4. I know someone who has a TRX850 that hardly gets used and would love it to go to home where it's restored back to original Red and White.......he might be able to be convinced to sell it.......
  5. I follow the Scammer Alert South Africa FB page and I'm afraid a lot of the screenshots that people post after they have lost their money show the scammers as being in hospital with stomach cramps or heart issues..... But......maybe this is genuine
  6. It's an SA crib of one of these - made by Bikelug. I don't think they still exist, but it's been brilliant. A few small modifications, but generally speaking tows like a dream.
  7. Cool - its a Matt Carbon and Teal Green Fuji Norcom. Very underrated bike in my humble opinion - its a pleasure to ride and so comfortable.
  8. Any end in sight?
  9. Thanks. My Dad's plan was to enter it for the best bike on show at 1000 Bikes eventually but he never got that far and this year, even though it was done, I was a bit scared to leave it alone over the weekend!
  10. Fully agree - I used to chat fairly often but after a few incidents just decided I wasn't bothered anymore. So I also just lurk and rather say nothing. A pity because there are some really informative threads but inevitably someone says something which triggers someone else and then the whole lot just collapses. One of the exceptions has been the Motorbike thread - I can't think of one time where it has ever got even remotely heated - and its close to 700 pages now.
  11. I'm doing MB on the 16th - haven't had ideal prep but should be able to at least have an enjoyable day......
  12. My Dad bought it in the UK in 1980 for I think R3000 - he had one growing up at University and always wanted another. He got it running and then totally stripped it to rebuild. It took him the better part of 40 years to start working on it again and over Covid got most of the stuff done. He got it running again towards the end of 2023 and then sadly died in July 2024 so never got to see it finished, or even ride it. We eventually had it completed, but it's never been ridden - I'm leaving that for my brother to appreciate. It's a really nice example, with all the special bits. The only thing which I think is not correct is that it doesn't have the white pinstripe around the seat - which it had when my my Dad bought it.
  13. I do - My Dad and I collected Velos for many years. He passed away last year so I got rid of some of the more collectable models and just kept the ones which were sentimental to me - a 1931 GTP 2-stroke, the Venom Clubman, the Thruxtonized Venom, a Viper and a 350 MAC scrambler. The Genuine Thruxton went to my Brother in the UK and the 500 DBD34 Gold Star has gone to my other Brother in Cape Town. The pic below was our stable a few years ago and
  14. Definitely some CB750F vibes there
  15. The chrome one is a genuine Clubman - the one in the pic is more a Venom with some Thruxton bits added and some random parts I had in my roof!
  16. That might be so, but yesterday morning in the Cradle it sure felt like 25000 cyclists were at the race. Might as well have been the rapture it was so quiet!
  17. The owner of the now defunct JHB Yamaha had a Blaster and a Special Edition Red Banshee in crates displayed. I wonder what he ever did with them
  18. It's beautifully done. I cringe to think what it must have cost. Problem is, it's not standard so now I need to decide do I keep it, or have it all removed......
  19. So I said watch this space...... Turns out that my Dad's description of "it's all there you just need to assemble it" was a bit economical. There's quite a bit missing and sourcing all the bits from the UK would have set me back around R40k. About three weeks ago I couldn't sleep so I went off to he kitchen to make some Rooibos with honey and while the kettle was boiling I was scouring FB Marketplace (as one does). Lo and behold a Velocette pops up - and one with some pretty interesting parts. Now these never pop up on Marketplace so must be a scam I think, Anyway, reverse image search comes up good so I send the guy a message. Yes - bike is available, its on his farm in Whiteriver. Guy sounds honest enough, so off I go with the trailer because the price he wants is about what I'll need for spares anyway so makes sense. Long story short I returned with a (very shiney) 500. A bit of research and it's not just any old bike, but one that has quite a history as a race bike. Unreal that it was just lying there on a farm. The Chrome is definitely not standard, and it's had a fairly hard life but it runs and sounds pretty throaty - the motor has had work done so going to be interesting to see what was done. As for the original one - not sure now. I might still slowly get it together but for now this one will be taking its place on the bench!
  20. Makes me sick that people can do this. And reading back now i guess hindsight is always 20/20 but this guy was clearly screwing you around when you look back. Decent guy, probably got into some financial trouble and now who knows what he thinks the way out is now.....
  21. "Sorry Guys, I was meant to send this to my Mechanic......"
  22. Shame remember that poor woman who sent pics to the local Moms WA group. I don't think she was ever able to recover from that.
  23. I'm off to get my Snow glasses and Ski's then......
  24. Here's what I would do if that was a part on an old bike I was restoring. Put a piece of gladwrap over the hole - not too tight to allow some movement. Spray the top of the gladwrap with Spray and Cook. Mix up some White Pratleys Quickset and fill up the hole over the gladwrap and leave to set.. Pull up the gladwrap off the FD once the Pratleys has set and then pull the gladwrap off the hardened glue. You now have a perfect mould of the part which is missing. You can then file the piece of glue down carefully until you have a piece which matches the missing part pretty closely. Might take a few attempts, but ecentually you will have a piece which fits perfectly and only close up will you see that its damaged....
  25. I started following Byron after he was on the Zwift Academy and from his posts he's pretty much going this alone. But I can't believe that we weren't at least able to field more men - the ladies had three. Maybe the course just didn't suit our riders.
