  1. What does a part like that cost as a matter of interest?
  2. There's a Sexual grooming and Statutory rape criminal case that's been ongoing now for the better part of 4 years, the accused being a well-known Triathlon coach. It's been a terrible time for the victim and her family and it doesn't seem like it's going to end any time soon. Criminal cases in SA can take years to be finalized unfortunately
  3. @Hairy saw this on the weekend and thought of this whole debacle. Had a little chuckle....
  4. So probably not smart to read too much into it, but Aston Martin and Cadillac aren't exactly miles apart in testing and at this point Cadillac are faster. There's going to be a lot of awkward sauce on Uncle Lawrence's table if the Newey F1 supercar is slower than the super new f1 car......
  5. Unless you have some sort of sentimental attachment to that bike and want to keep it for the next 15 years it's not worth repairing. You're probably in for R20k to get it to a point where it might just be reliable. That 20k is better spent elsewhere. And I'm sorry - but if you think Wynand is ever going to refund you or give you those lost spares I'm going to quote the words of our favorite Vegan Hubber who was going to do a whole bunch of Everesting (some might remember that thread!) "Not going to F-ing happen....." You need to lay charges against this guy - not because you will ever see anything from him, but to prevent him from ever doing anything like this to anyone else again.

I hope he does something this year. Otherwise he's going to be running Dad's factory in Krugersdorp next year.....

Look to be fair, I'm a Saffa through and through and love watching Brad, but last season wasn't great and if he doesn't do something special this season, I'm afraid he is going to struggle for a seat next year.....
  8. My Dad came home once with a later model Opel Kadette 200TSI. It was the most scary thing I had driven. Had unbelievable torque-steer. I put my foot down and it actually veered off to the left. No wonder there are so few of them left now!
  9. So my Brother recently moved to the UK and shipped his collection over - some to the UK and some to Portugal. In a nutshell, he reckons he would have been better off selling everything here in SA and buying them new in the UK. None of the Ducati's will pass MOT because they all have aftermarket ECU's and Pipes - something which is common to change here in SA and the old 900SS and my Dad's Velo Thruxton are listed as "Built up" on the RC1 forms, so he can't even get those registered to get some form of MOT. All these guys in SA who see the GBP prices of bikes and think they can ship them over in a container - take 40% off that price for shipping, import duties, insurance etc. A nice TRX in the UK - probably GBP3000? That's R63K - less 40% - Probably going to get out R38k. Easier to just sell them in SA!
  10. I will gladly give you some of my blood - my Ferritin levels are so high I am allowed to give blood every two weeks 🫤
  11. It's on FB marketplace - if you are serious and promise not to turn it into some half-bakes cafe racer thing we can definitely chat. I'll send you the brief I wrote - it's probably a bit harsh but I like to be open and honest about what I'm selling so everyone knows!
  12. The best route will be as suggested - to have someone insert a helicoil for you. But if the thread is not totally stripped what you could do is to purchase an M6 x 20 Grub screw and then an M6 Nylock nut. Screw the grubscrew into the fork with some loctite studlock 270 and then use the Nylock nut on the grubscrew as the retainer for the brake caliper.
  13. I followed a thread on youtube where a guy fitted a 6-cylinder goldwing motor to a beetle.... Looked very impressive
  14. Yaaa - the 900SS is a nice bike but unfortunately it's not one of the real collectable ones and it's overshadowed by the 70's 900SS which is a lot more desirable. If it was a 888 then I would be on a plane right now to wrestle it out of his hands. My gut for that bike - he can start at R55K and I think he might have to be prepared to drop. I've been putting out feelers for my TRX which I don't use anymore and the general feeling is that R45k is where we are at. Sad, but there's very little disposable income in SA right now - especially for classic bikes. My brother struggled to sell his 748R and his 999R and had to adjust his expectations, so R100k is way off the mark.
  15. Slicks might not make a massive difference to your bike time, but they certainly will help and your legs won't be as fatigued when you get to the run. If I was using a MTB, I would definitely put on slicks. Years ago I had a set of Kenda Kwests on my MTB which I used on the road and they made a big difference. And they were dirt cheap too - R150-odd
  16. Careful you don't trip over all the bodies of his dead family members or the extension cord feeding power to his Dialysis machine and his brothers wheelchair that he had to go and fetch....
  17. My thoughts exactly - anyway, do you want someone with so much emotional stress with his health and his family deaths etc working on your motor? 🤔
  18. I took the chrome bling machine out for a ride this weekend - not too far - just far enough that I could push it home if it stopped, But - it really runs well which throws a spanner in the works because it now definitely not a parts bike.....
  19. I recently did the whole 10sp to 11sp conversion. All the bikes in our stable were 10sp Campag Chorus with Campag wheels, which incidentally can take 9, 10, 11 or 12sp Campag clusters but converting to Campag 11sp shifters was pricey. So in the end I bought Shimano 11sp Ultegra old stock and then (and this is where it might work for you) sent my spare wheels down to Nick the Wheelbuilder where he built in Rapide 11sp Shimano hubs to replace the old 10sp ones. You can pick up a set of decent 10sp rim-brake wheels now for good value and a Rapide hub is about R1300. That was the most cost effective for me in the end.
  20. I know right. I was planning to take the TRX out for a bit of a ride this weekend to shake off the cobwebs and it doesn't look promising at all!
  21. I've tried a few brands Asics, Mizuno, Puma over the years and the ones that have given me the most confidence running on loose gravel and slippery mud are On Cloud Cloud Venture. But not your intro shoe request though - they are on the pricey side I suppose if you are really on a tight budget then go to a Mr. Price sports and buy some Maxed Trail running shoes. The Fast Echo soles look very much like the design on my Mizunos which weren't bad, but were terrible in the wet slippery stuff
  22. Definitely a future classic. No electronic nanny stuff either, right?
  23. Sorry mate - this is just one massive screw up.
  24. Ish - is this your guy?
  25. I think my first goal will be to try and do 40km - I did that once years ago on my old TACX Flow on the TACX software but that was wildly optimistic I suspect
