  1. 10 second differences on either 26 or 29er is neither here nor there in a single race but adds up in a multi stage race, and yes there are positives and negatives with the 29er, so at the end of the day ride what feels comfortable not what mr. jones has...its hard enough keeping up in any case. If the fluckigers could win a stage by 2 min on 26ers (and lets give them credit because they had a tough time acclimatising this year) then they are good enough. also, have a look at the prologue of the epic in tokai and notice how many on 29ers ploughed in that single track. (might also have had something to do with evans' crash...might...besides the brakes....maybe)
  2. quite rightly so - these are appriximate settings for the 120mm fox rp2 shock
  3. c if this helps 75kg - 110psi - 5-6 clicks counter clockwise (rebound) 85kg - 120ps1 - 5- 6 clicks 95kg - 130psi - 7-8 clicks 105kg - 140psi - 7-8 clicks should give you 20-25% sag.
  4. that article will, unfortunately, promote and provoke "socio-economic" bike jackings along the route. There have been 1 or 2 incidents prior to said article, it will be interestingly unfortunate to hear or see more due the ARGUS article.
  5. looks and specs are one thing, ride quality is another...if it feels right, take it.
  6. gr8 responses...keep em coming...nice to know what people think of the tyres they've used so far. i've had 1) hutchinson's as stock tyres on my trek fuel - they tend to loose grip in the corners but roll fairly fast 2) kenda nevegal as stock on my gt force - they grip well, but are heavy , dont roll fast and dont climb well 3) schwalbe rocket rons as stock on my merida 96 - love these tyres - roll fast, grip well - but last as long as a water droplet in the sun-and are puncture prone...but i love them all the same.
  7. these are loose fits and are probably american sizes....so as a guide ... M = L / L = XL if you wanting a slightly tighter fit.
  8. i cant fault this bike either...climbs brilliantly, descends very fast, and accelerates well too, despite a weight disadvantage. twitchy in tight black route singletrack, but a wide bar and shorter stem works well to make it adapt (however, u not really gonna do black route runs with this bike). the geometry in pure racing, no relaxing on this bike. b.t.w it's not a world cup winner for nothing.
  9. never mind the flies, watch out for the snakes...was there 2 weeks back and they were all over the place at about 8:30am already.
  10. i'm almost sure this is the hands of a syndicate or some sadistic bike enthusiast who's got some out-of-work-do-anything-for-a-buck chump to steal-kill--n-destroy so he can make a buck on the components on the bikes they steal....cos i'm almost sure u not gonna find a scott / gary fischer / morewood / merida / and the like cruising along in some location or disadvantaged area, it's way too much of a risk and too suspect....there has to be a market for these bikes and comps. Find the head of the snake and cut it off, burn the rest, pulverise the head.
  11. if i'm not mistaken, the Giant comes equipped with better specs than the trek, what's gonna determine which 1 u choose will have to be the fit and feel of the bike...specs aside, if the frame feels right and comfortable and u have the fortune of test riding either, yr mind will be made up.
  12. the trek ex range is a gr8 bike....it's fast, agile, nimble, and handling is gr8. u looking at the ex8/9 with good specs....i dont know much about the new rear shocks they're using but i can tell u that in the standing position u will experience some pedalbob, not so much in the seated position....if u like riding trailsand less focused on racing then it's a gr8 bike to look at....just make sure u get a fitting before u buy.
  13. well looks like south africa will be getting a tour de sa sometime next year...just announce by MR. Mocke on supersport blitz....looks like a 9 day tour....
  14. must have been a very hot day for that wheel to melt...
  15. some nice editing there boys...well done
