  1. I wonder if the 11-42xt casette will work with an xtr rear derailleur. Xtr only specified as 11-40
  2. I had first generation DuraAce Di2 on my last road bike. The battery lasted 8 months per charge, riding 5 times a week.
  3. Cudos for the review, many happy miles. Re the price, at least there is some value behind it: the advanced technology, the ease of shifting and maintenance etc. A lot of money gets spent by cyclists on things with less value - like price premiums on frames from traditional manufacturers that is now made in China, shades with plastic lenses and plastic frames etc.
  4. So NZ, Aus, England etc. will also have their emblems on the sleeves?
  5. Several of the brands you mentioned make their frames themselves. I cant quite associate "boutique" and "made in Taiwan", of even worse, "made in China", with one another. Those Eastern countries are known for mass producing things cheaply. But that is just my take on it. Regarding mass: I disagree with Spoke10, heavier <> stronger when it comes to carbon. With metal, it holds true, but for composites you could use a lot of low grade T300 fiber and get a heavier frame that is not as strong as the same frame made from high grade T1000 fiber, which could be lighter, too. The heavier frame could also have a higher %of resin, due to a lack of process control, which would also not make it stronger. In some cases with carbon composites, heavier implies lower quality.
  6. Good looking bike, awesome colours. The total price looks a bit crazy imo, but thats capitalism. The frameset price would be interesting. Time will tell if it is worth it. Comparisons with Sworks,Scalpels etc. will have to wait till we at least know what the weight of the Pyga is. Thumbs up for another solid local bike. I dont get the idea with the wheelset, though. If those are generic rims from out East, and the set indeed costs R30k, there could be a large chunk of profit margin in there...
  7. Imo doping is bad, deserve life ban, teams and directors should banned too, etc. For a pro I could at least understand why. For a vet racer, in SA, Im at a loss for words. I dont understand why would a VA rider risk his health for some podiums? I wonder how his medical aid would see this, if he had health complications later in life?
  8. Blommetjies were a green machine today, and I would never have tipped JP for a hattrick! I hope they can maintain this intensity for the next two games, and that the knock-outs demon has been banished forever. I wonder if they will continue with this team, Abbott has been awesome whenever he played, but we still look short on the fast bowling front, for fast bowling conditions.
  9. Season over?
  10. AB cant keep, because that would expose our 5th bowler, Dale Steyn, for 10 overs Hat...coat....door!
  11. AB should not keep and captain imo, he will bea t risk of over-rate penalties. The other risk is that it has a negative impact on his batting - without him scoring, the rest looks very tentative. Not something to try the first time in a knock-out match.
  12. Firstly, I dont think the selectors got the squad right, they gambled on De Kock, took no reserve opener or WK, plus got the all rounder options badly wrong. The rest of the team selected themselves, so poor job from the SA selectors imo. I agree, we do not seem to have an "organizer" when chasing. They also made concerning statements to the press like "we should bat like when we are setting a total". Against Pak we needed 4.5 rpo to win, can take singles and hit the bad ball to win, no need for big shots from Rilee, JP, Steyn etc. All in all, the team has yet to impress, smashing minnows and low ranked WI is better than England, but does not count for much else. Judging current form, we look weaker than Aus, NZ, SL and Ind, I hope Im wrong, but those look like the top 4.
  13. Lets hope it is a case of choke now and win the final.
  14. Heading towards a humiliating defeat, which is a bit ominous considering the big loss as against NZ in the warm ups. Im not writing them off yet, but they need to turn the WC campeing around somehow, asap!
  15. Under performing in a pressure match.
  16. Run out :-(
  17. Oh oh, batting looks very scratchy, more run rate pressure building, not a good start.
  18. The moment got a bit big for some of our fielders, I hope the batsmen settle down. Good pressure test, this.
  19. Par score imo. Lets wait till both teams had a bat. Injury to Vern exposed the part timers. Behardien would have gone for even more, this was the best 11 for ths match. If our top 6 cant chase on this deck, we dont deserve to win the WC.
  20. But mtb gets lots of tv time. Imo the footage about mtb events make good tv, with scenery, wipe outs, and some air time spent on the rest of the field.
  21. Bad news, but Im starting to wonder if road race organizers are not flogging a dead horse. Road cycling in SA is a participant sport, not a spectator sport. The interest in a pro only race is small. Perhaps a strategic re-think is neccesary.
  22. I like the look of your team a lot! Best opening compo there, plus QdK adds some talent to the middle order. ? About Peterson, imo not good enough for a test bowler. Except for PE, rather use Radaba (or de Lange/ Morris) I would also like to see David Miller given a go at 5. Imo he could be a better test cricketer than short form player, like Faf. But the selectors are too conservative to make bold changes. I suspect it will be the same look team, with Petersen at the top, 7 batsmen, or 6 plus all rounder.
  23. Big win for SA today. I got a bit nervous at the start, but the batting is looking very very strong. Death bowling was not up to standard, though - it looks like our biggest weakness. No Miller in the 11 today. Imo it is a bit crazy not to use such a talent - I would prefer him at 4 instead of Russouw. He can be much more than a last over slugger.
