  1. Nice suggestions, thanks ????????
  2. We had a propper ride today - red, green, yellow from Asara. Detoured a bit to find mid-ride cuppachinos, tried Hazendal (closed) then out towards Devonvale again. Came right by turning in at the Vine guesthouse and riding a few km up to the restaurant up there - nice place. I think we missed the orange ST in our quest, and then did not have time to do some of the purple. Enjoyed the ride, nice flowey ST, will go back to ride purple, also want to do ystervark and skaapsteker . Hardtail was perfect, trails were benign and it made for less work on the hills. Some first world problems; Recommend a cuppachino spot on the orange side? Asara would not serve us a post ride breakfast (11h30 was too close to 12h00 or something as breakfast is a 3 course only or something) and lunch only from 12h00. We could get spme snacks at the deli, but my mate is a banting ninja, does not eat before or during rides and could not come right there. No big deal but perhaps we can start from a different spot? Any suggestions for post ride bacon&eggs?
  3. Helderberg trails: http://i1371.photobucket.com/albums/ag294/dilbertZA/20171228_0907562_zpsofcgmqeo.jpg It takes some effort to ride up, but worth it.
  4. Sounds great Roux???? How was the route, where did you go in etc? (Ive got nice 70km routes with no repeats, but still short of options for 100km to 120km routes. Last time I did a 110km ride I had to include several laps (6 ?) of one part of the Wanabee trail to make up distance.)
  5. Ive done a few after work rides on the yellow and purple loops, from Asara. How does the rest compare in terms of technicality & effort? (Want to know if I should consider my 140/130 dual instead of the hardtail which Ive used before)
  6. Camelbak, problem solved ..... Hat, coat, door !!!
  7. I road run on Nike Pegasus, got 866km from the last pair, but changed the insoles once, 1011km on the pair before them.
  8. Did the long one - imo this event should be a bucket list event for mountain bikers. Organization was great, trails awesome and scenery spectacular. Right up there with the likes of Sani and Berg&Bush. Lots of climbs, but you cant have super descents without those (and I enjoy climbing)
  9. Dry tree outside Alicedale, Eastern Cape: http://i1371.photobucket.com/albums/ag294/dilbertZA/Mobile%20Uploads/20171002_174811-EFFECTS-1209x1612_zpscjpicav7.jpg
  10. My Jura's coffee works best with grinder at 70% to 80% to the fine side. Its espressos were low on flavour for coarser grinds.
  11. Cudos to the ref of the AB game - making good calls in front of a partisan crowd. Imo the ABs got away with a lot, even in WC knockout games - calls just go in their favour more often. The gap between them and the other top sides may have been smaller in the past than what results would suggest.
  12. Cool, I would enjoy riding along. 17 to 19 sounds in the right zone. Send me a PM when you plan to go again.
  13. Im thinking about this as a long ride option. My go to long route is Wanabee trais - paradyskloof - Jonkers. But for an alternative, I think this kan work: Shortest way through Wanabee trails to Annandale, cross through the farms by the Waldorf school to Baden Powell, past Digterby estate to Overgaauw. Have not done it before, will go scout.
  14. Ive done one or 2 rides here, starting to at Asara after work. Could ride a bit of red route and the yellow. I would like to go ride the routes on the other side of the ridge sometime. Q: Whats the most direct way to ride if I want to cycle out there from Somerset? Im considering riding out there on a weekend, doing a longer loop, then back.
  15. Good fightback, great bowling. This t20 squad is very experimental, I dont mind a lost game if they fight for it. AB and Behardien blew the last one - agree with the commentators that it would have been better to be 143 all out than 143/3. Morri's bowling was massive, bad that Butler not given caught behind in his last over. I enjoyed watching Paterson and Phehlukwayo - they won that game for us with Morris. There is a growing pool of players that have not delivered to their potential - Behardien, Parnell, Duminy. They must b under threat of getting dropped now. Miller and Morkel can also do more imo. Miller still young, I would like to see him bat one higher in the odi team. He is also such a nice orthodox batsmen - he could bat in the test side, too.
  16. Also have a look at this one: https://m.yuppiechef.com/saeco-coffee.htm?id=27773&name=Saeco-Coffee-Odea-Go-Bean-to-Cup-Espresso-Machine&vid=45561&display=mobile&gclid=Cj0KEQjwmv7JBRDXkMWW4_Tf8ZoBEiQA11B2fkLaynWC_aOLMh1T31LF8eLx8SDVZVdZpYqJ20D43vEaAuU48P8HAQ I like te steam wand
  17. It looks like bad descisions under pressure (note Im not saying the c-word, yet) The batting was brittle in England, so the collapse is not a complete surprize, just the way they are getting out seems poor. Unless the Bbwlers supply a miracle, we will be heading home.
  18. I wanted to ride this one, but could not find a partner in time Hopefull for next year...
  19. I am an ABD fan, he is the best batsmen of his this generation. Superb in all forms of the game. Imo not a good captian, and also lacking in bmt a bit (how many times have MSD or Koli won matches for India, almost man alone? AB is not on their level wrt bmt)
  20. What an epic chase - nice game of cricket. (The shoe have been on the other foot so many times) Heroic effort by Miller - he has lots of talent, and could even bat higher up imo. He is still young, should also be considered for tne test side imo. (Need to work on playing of spin, though)
  21. Agreed! Faf and Jantjies was the best SA 9 and 10 combo by far in superrugby - that was why they got selected. But instead of making the most of their talents, they are being forced into a type of game they are not suited to. Neither Faf nor Hougardt is suited to a kicking/positional type of game - Frans Ludicke did the same to FH at the Bulls (and Pollard + Serfontein too, who were both players of the tournament at the junior WC). The player then has to think more about their options, doing everything a bit slower than their instinctive play. Tne net effect is damage to their confidence, resulting in loss of form. Both these scrumhalves are aggressive players, attacking gaps and putting runners into space. They both bring massive defence too, but not a strong kicking game. Imo they should pick the best players in each position and then invent a style that makes the most of that. The best 9 and 10 for AC would be Ruan Pienaar and Morne Steyn if he wants to play a tactical game with kick & chase etc. (I dont like either much) We have huge defensive problems, most glaringly the outside backs. The defence coach is a disaster. The boks have often used at least one big centre with a massive defensive game, in combination with a more creative partner. The coaching staff also cannot seem to get the front row right. Beast is below par, and Strauss is also off his A game (except for lineouts).
  22. AC: "we lost because of mistakes made by induvidual players" on the radio this morning. Huh? I cant remember if I have ever heard a bok coach blame the players. Biggest mistakes were the strategy on the day imo. For example: Why was Faf kicking so much? It is not his natural game, to force him into it will make him play with less confidence (as what happened with F Hougard at the Bulls). Also lots of kicking, but without the best kickers or kick chasers and half playing for territory, but also open (Naas+Mallet+Matfield comments) Players: Defense let us down. Centre channel looks vulnerable, DD is very ordinary, Mapoe too. I agree on Strauss as well, probably the least deserving player there, together with Paige.
  23. Thanks! I got some Nova 17, first coat is on. What grit should I sand with in between?
  24. Nice thread this! I have a quick novice question: Can you recommend a finish/varnish for saligna? Im making a first desk for my son's room using saligna laminate.
  25. During an event, riders have right of way over walkers, regardless of batch.
