  1. Hehe, but consider this: How many times have you asked a waiter what's their 2nd best burger on the menu?
  2. With 5.10's being the best why even ask?
  3. Very much, yes. It is running 150mm / 135mm vs the Scott's 140mm / 130mm. What is interesting is their choice of 29mm rims with 3" tires - would be keen to give one a go to feel what effect that has.
  4. Another #spygate for F1 http://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/analysis-mercedes-vs-ben-hoyle-a-new-spygate/
  5. Best would be to burn it with fire. Burn it till it's dead.
  6. You can. Front tri is their Genius 29er bolted to a new Plus friendly rear tri. Makes for a very versatile bike, I'd say.
  7. 29er for sure
  8. Could be down to the extra tread and grip? Waiting for some lab tests from Schwalbe on this - till then I can only theorize.
  9. I'd also say that it depends on what "long distance riding" will be. We know a 29er is a mile eater.
  10. Fair enough
  11. Still limited, but Scott dealers will be able to help you out. Spez and Trek are on board with Plus bikes and Stan's NoTubes have a rim available - this should help.
  12. Try one first, then call it what you want.
  13. I don't think skinny and narrow is good for anything other than Road or CX. Schwalbe has done extensive tests that show wider with lower pressures are the way to go when riding off road. Clearance is the thing here, yes. 27.5+ bikes can run 29" wheels and tires - well, most of them can. You won't be able to retrofit as the bike will need boost 148 rear and 110 front and the rear tri needs plenty of space to clear the tires and mud.
  14. Thanks I feel the least one can do is have an open mind and give it a go - if you like it and it suits, then cool beans. If not, then no harm in at least trying. It definitely won't be for everyone - but, honestly speaking, it could be a great one bike for A LOT of people. Most riders I've spoken to or bumped into on the trails were keen to give it a go and there was very little resistance for no apparent reason like there was when 29ers first broke cover - that's a good sign!
  15. Plus bikes are designed to help give mountain bike riders more traction on the trails. SCOTT Sports was one of the first big players to launch 27.5+ bikes, with four models and 11 options in their Scale (Hardtail) and Genius (Dual Suspension) platforms. Courtesy of SCOTT Sports SA and Olympic Cycles, we were sent a Genius Plus 720 to test. Click here to view the article

  17. At the bottom of the article there's a link to their dealer network.
  18. Yeah, working on that as well and, quite funnily, tried some video and photo "selfies" of me riding riding at Meerendal. But it proved to be quite a challenge and it's more fun to just ride than to stuff around with cameras and angles and other nonsense. But yeah, riding pics and vids in reviews would be nice.
  19. Thanks. Seat angle is 73.5 with a 120mm fork and 72.5 with a 140mm - did not find it too slack or something that bothered me on climbs. Must be testimony to the CVA that does not squat under load. I would still prefer it to be 73.5 with a 140mm fork, though. Bike was build while Niner SA was still waiting for parts kits to arrive. Yeah, taken and I agree. Have done that in a review or two only to get a PM saying it doesn't help as they don't ride in CT so have no reference of the trails mentioned. Can't please everyone. But I agree 100%, some reference of trails would help and maybe so you know how I approach it: I look at the bike and it's intended purpose then pick what trails to ride. The Reign for instance saw some Paarl action - it was one of the very few bikes I reviewed this year that had to crack it there. Once I've ridden those I try a trail or route or two that would push the bike's boundaries to see if it would be happy outside of it's comfort zone. I always make sure a bike gets ridden on varying terrain. Fast / flowy + rocky / technical + whatever else. One of the reasons we insist a bike to spend some time at Bike HQ in order for us to get a good understanding of it. And because we like bikes.
  20. I know of a shop or two that'll buff that out!
  21. They were already giving them a run for their money this year.
  22. The R.I.P 9 is Niner's do-everything trail bike with 125-millimetres of rear-wheel travel. The RDO 4-star (Race Day Optimised) is a full carbon model that sits second from the top in the range. It features a carbon swingarm and rocker links with oversized aluminium axles. The suspension design is Niner's own patented CVA (Constantly Varying Arc) dual-link rear suspension. 23. Random comment of the day: Suzuki Jimny FTW!
  24. Tag Heuer Engines for Red Bull. I just hope they're timing will be right... http://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/red-bull-confirms-tag-heuer-engine-deal/ "Red Bull will be powered by TAG Heuer badged Renault engines next season, the Milton Keynes-based team confirmed on Friday."
