  1. Tag Heuer Engines for Red Bull. I just hope they're timing will be right... http://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/red-bull-confirms-tag-heuer-engine-deal/ "Red Bull will be powered by TAG Heuer badged Renault engines next season, the Milton Keynes-based team confirmed on Friday."
  2. That's unpossible. Yip, UNpossible!
  3. (Almost missed that)
  4. Not a counter argument - I actually agree with you! Was just highlighting those facts, that, like you say, is the same in the bicycle trade.
  5. A story that went largely unnoticed was Felt who announced earlier this year that they will be doing away with model years completely and follow the Santa Cruz / Ibis (as an example) model and only introduce upgrades if and when ready. Rather have rolling updates and spec changes than having to re-tool and have new molds made every year.
  6. 1. Maybe also worth mentioning that not all importers pay for their bikes at the same time and in the same way. Some secure price in advance, others pay before it ships and some pay whenever based on the exchange rate when it clears customs. We are comparing one year with another without knowing those details. 2. R/$ is one thing. Cost of material is another. ************ I'm not trying to defend a price increase - just adding some more info to the discussion.
  7. Yes. We get the motorbike analogy. I think the problem is with the consumer-driven insistence to either revamp or touch up every bike in their range every year. Most motorbikes sport carry over parts from year to year and only ever so often go the full monty when it comes to updating. Engines, frames, gearboxes, electronics, etc are shared across platforms, although in different tunes (250F, 250R, 250X). Some say a KX450F is ridiculous money when you can buy a car for the same money. Looks like the motorbike industry is a joke as well. We're all part of the Truman show.
  8. Thanks. Dual Position is much improved over the Two-Step that went before it. Performance deficit to the fixed travel version is less than Talas to Float, even though that gap has also been narrowed. I guess it's to help with the climbing bit. I'm not too fussed about that and would prefer a fixed travel fork, but the dual position gives little away. Some prefer its feel over a tokenless Pike.
  9. Yeah, I'm relating that to other bikes with similar spec and build. Ys, R70k is a lot of money, but I'd rather spend R70k on a bike that represents good value for money than spend R120k for one with the same parts, just because it's "boutique". I'd also rather buy a R70k bike than a motor vehicle of similar value to go ride single track on.
  10. Bikes and suspension are designed to be more and more plush and to give excellent small bump performance. This does mean one have to dial it to your liking and to ensure it doesn't dive under load. Pike's tokens make it easy enough, though. Yip, like others have said that's the R/$ for you. I still think it represents excellent value for money. Building a frame up with those parts will cost you close on double. Carbon frame alone would be R40k + True and what I was trying to get at in the review as well. I felt with this bike even more so than some others I've tested recently. You really not to get on with it to get near the bike's limits and where it's in it's element. Great bike that's an absolute blast to ride.
  11. Yip, but see below for the exact poster
  12. http://www.todayifoundout.com/index.php/2011/03/lamborghini-cars-were-a-result-of-a-tractor-company-owners-frustration-with-ferrari/ "As a car lover and wealthy entrepreneur, Lamborghini owned a number of sports cars, with the Ferrari 250 GT being one of them. At a certain point, Lamborghini became frustrated with problems he had with the clutch in his Ferrari. He then went to visit Enzo Ferrari. The world may have never had the famous Lamborghini super cars that were to follow had Enzo Ferrari not answered Ferruccio’s complaints with “the problem is not with the car but with driver!” and went on to advise him to look after his tractors instead. For a mechanical genius and Italian, this kind of answer was not only insulting but an open challenge."
  13. When the new 650b Giant Reign was announced, its "out there" geometry had me intrigued. Giant certainly didn't hold back and I was very eager to see how this bike performed out on the trails. Click here to view the article
  14. I'll be there; still trying to finish my cube from last year...
  15. Loving the colours on your bike. Very well done

    MotoGP

Agreed ...which will not necessarily be what's best for Stoner and his rep.
  17. This is where I'm at... http://uberhumor.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/RuNw9Qv.png
  18. I'm still wondering how many times do that women need to flick the switch before she's going to realize turning the lights OFF is a BAD idea.

  20. Pricing in the review - right at the bottom. For size specific geo it would be best to get in touch with Mercer. Link for that at the bottom of the review with pricing.
  21. ...much prefer the original
  22. Vocalists is Daniela Andrade
  23. Yeah, in an organised event like that I definitely wont. I know the Cape Town Cycle Tour does not allow the use of earphones.
