  1. Looking at getting a 2nd bike that will double as a training bike as well as 1 for my wife - want to make sure the wheels are interchangeable etc.. Currently have a 2008 10 speed record group set on my racer.
  2. Hi Hubbers, Please give me some advice here. Question 1: Are the 10 speed and 11 speed group sets interchangeable - ie will an 11 speed cassette work on the 10 speed rear deraileur and visa versa? Question 2: Are all the 10 speed group sets interchangeable - ie will a 10 speed Chorus casette work on a 10 speed record deralieur and visa versa? Thanks
  3. And then finally - if you have a budget of R4k to R4.5k - you will always get a whole lot more for your cash if you have time and watch the deals that pop up on the HUB on used bikes. Just take a mate along who knows his stuff to check it out and then start negotiating
  4. Thanks Edman - gave him a call
  5. Guys, took a closer look at my Bora Ultras today and they have a slight wobble when I spin them - any recommendations as to where I should take them to be serviced? I am near Rosebank in Jhb.
  6. Too true - so lets not lose sight of what's really important!
  7. Probably won't catch them - but I guess u could finish in time to pick up the next bunch commming thro - losing 5min because of puncture would still be a good finish for me.
  8. Some guys race with a spare tubby and claim to be able to change a tubby as quickly as they change a tube.

  10. Sad but true ..... I have put out the word already
  11. Couldnt agree more - just got them and it came that way - will be switching them to my Campy Record asap
  12. Oops - thats better
  13. Heres mine - so lets see yours! Sorry its not on the couch - my wife wouldnt get off for the picture
  14. Thanks Edman
  15. Took a Cervelo R3 with Bora Ultras out for the 1st time today and the only word that describes the feeling is Yiiiiihhhhhhaaaaaaa!!! What an awesome ride - so quick that at times it felt like the Bora's were going to wheel spin (but fortunately just then the traction control kicked in ) Left that feeling in the pit of my stomach that you only get when you pull out of a vertical loop in a jet and a smile on my face that I think is there for good.
  16. Sharkie, to be honest I went in knowing it was too big - bought the frame together with a whole lot of extras from a young pro taking a break to get an education (smart move on his part ) The extras made it worth while - I kind of knew that I would have to resell / swap the frame. But went out on her this afternoon anyway - what an awesome ride Will post something on Rant and Rave a little later - this felt too good to keep to myself
  17. And I have a Cervelo R3 that would fit you like a glove (now if only one of these little yellow faces had tears)
  18. Yes, I did this - well worth the effort - get a mate (you need at least 2 people) and measure yourselves up and allow the fit calculator to do the rest! This put me on a 55 frame (top tube measurement)
  19. No Desi, please go ahead - quite keen to learn as much as I can on this too. Fritz Pienaar (Specialized Dealers) suggested to me that I should always go smaller if you slot exactly in the middle.
  20. Hi Zaskar - thanks (Yes ultras) How often do you use yours - racing only or training leading up to a race as well? And if you have tubbies - do you hope for the best in a race or would you try and repair it on the road with glue etc....
  21. Recently picked up a set of Bora Ultimates. Was wondering whether these wheels require routine maintenance like the other parts of our road machines?
  22. I'll keep that in mind Kieran - do you have some materials you can send me / website I should check out?
  23. Thanks Guys - If there was any doubt (or hope) that has been removed. B)
  24. Thanks Sammajoor - so when you say I could make a 56 work do you still mean not advisable or are you saying either 54 or 56 could be set up optimally?
