  1. Hope you don't mind the Hijack - but i will be doing a 2 hr road bike ride most mornings - leaving 6am from the Sun City main gate (24/12 - 30/12). Probably a relaxed 2hr 50km ride. Will look out for any fellow Hubbers keen to ride along
  2. Hi DocY - road or MTB?
  3. Thanks for the awesome time - I thoroughly enjoyed hitting Brandwag, Hartenbos, The Point and my favourite Herbetsdale. Looking forward to seeing you all again next i am in town.

Down to earth, full range of strengths from super strong A group riders right through to weekend warriors and great coffee. And of course hanging out with the cycling legend Johnny Koen is a very special cherry on top. You failed to mention about the cycling nicknames Now we cant let all the good stuff out of the bag in one go. Some things dont translate well - they need to be experienced first hand lol.

  6. Looking forward to joining you guys on Wednesday morning. Where exactly is the Tuinroete Agri - is it on the main road near the Langeberg Mall?
  7. I had a similar problem with a CRC order. The parcels were delivered in more than 1 shipment - unfortunately the full invoice was included with each shipment by CRC and customs calc was doubled. Kind of wipes out the cost benefit of ordering online After 4 requests to CRC to reinvoice in order for me to correct it with SARS i unfortunately got no response. Eventually the effort to save a few hundred rand outweighed the benefit. Was dissapointed by the lack of response and prefer to use Wiggle now instead
  8. And whilst this debate goes too and fro ------ Go Andy!!!!!!!!
  9. Take your helmet into the store you bought it from - most come with a free replacement if you smash it in the 1st year - i know my trek did!!
  10. well done ASG
  11. We will always come 2nd in a collision and unfortunately no one is going to be more concerned about that than we will be. Lets keep our eyes open, wear bright reflective clothing and keep getting the word out there
  12. Well done trubie - an Argus Sub 3 is one of those "awesome must try" achievements
  13. Good advice Prisma - what other books have you bought / read? What makes this one your favourite?
  14. Actions speak louder - good one
  15. especially if can do all this without taking myself too seriously
  16. Where else do you get an opportunity to put together a R75k bike for under R20k?
  17. We rant and rave - criticise and challenge - we blow our tops and take it personally when a fellow hubber shows us up but at the end of the day we love this forum because we keep comming back. So here goes - lets see how many reasons we can come up with for why we love this place! I'll start I love the HUB because it has introduced me to some awesome people that share my passion for cycling like MadMikex, Gunzo, JMK1 and Johan Borman
  18. Hi Chubba, as you have 800 odd posts on The Hub I assume you are not new to cycling (probably a mountain biker?) Road racing has the added advantage of being able to get into a bunch and cut down on the work load significantly. If you have been cycling for a while then fitness is probably already in place. The secret now is to do as many of the smaller qualifying road races as you can to get a better seeding for the next Argus - getting into a good starting group will make a huge difference. It will also give you experience in riding safely in a group and save you from a lot of irritating chirps if you dont hold your line or if you overlap the back wheel of the rider in front of you. It takes just 1 lapse of concentration to cause a potential pile up. Finally i have found that spending time on the track (incl. sprints) helps significantly with staying in the bunch. if you are near the middle or the back you will often find the bunch speeding up and then slowing down. Riders not strong enough to sprint back up to the back of the bunch will get dropped and then its hard work untill you join the next group. Good luck
  19. No I think Airbender was in Group F
  20. Well done sub 3's - even with the perfect weather i noticed that the last batch to get a good number sub 3 was group E. Only the top 2 in group F made it and then 1 super fast time trialist in group L. Goes to show that even in near perfect conditions a sub 3 is still a very special achievement.
  21. So does anyone know when we can expect the official results?
  22. Hang in there Leet 22 - most of us have been where u were today (fighting traffic from the back) - kudos too, 4:03 from RR is great going! If u do a few more races before next Argus - your seeding will improve dramatically as well. Good luck mate!
  23. Well done AirBender - you madfe the right choice to stick with your group - I saw HeadHunter but not sure if he managed a sub 3 - do you?
  24. Files are 2mb each - hope your inbox can handle that
  25. Hi Keith, its on its way - hope it works
