  1. I completely disagree with you thank to FNB Stadium is going to Third World venue with vagrants crime difficult to park just an unpleasant situation not worth enduring ever again.
  2. yes it seems that way - I talked to the victim of the mugging and he said the security were careless and did not even want to deal with thiS. Citizens were helping more the USLESS LUMPS OF WAST called security did nothing- I am not riding this race again if it's at FNB. FNB BANK SHOULD SHOULD NOT PUT THIER NAME TO THIS VENUE
  3. NOW THATS A GREAT IDEA!!!!!!!!!!!!! SAFER AND SENSIBLE
  4. MOVING THIS TO THE NORTH IS THE ONLY HOPE TO AVOID A CRIME SPREE OF NOTE !
  5. Yes its no appealing venue at all - the venue is real a drag- run down full of vagrants and crime ridden , poor parking area miles from the start , difficult to get into the stadium f all police doing there job - way way to risky. why should anyone fell unsafe on a race day!!!!! My club will not do this ride again- to much at stake with getting there , parking and then the chance of mugging.
  6. This was posted on a bike group - Heads up, chaps*- today at the 94,7, after receiving your medal and coke and walking 20m out where non-riders are waiting for you ( there are lots of people as you pass the turnstile pillars) a big chap grabbed the riders bike’s front wheel and lifted it said “nice wheel or something distracting “( rider was walking) at the same time his partner in crime from behind remove his Cell Phone from the back of his jersey, fortunately, he felt it. He gave him as best he could. An accommodating fellow gave him a few slaps, and the 6 (six) security guards , some who were fatter than fat, all walked around in circles with their walkie-talkies and did absolutely nothing and sent him on his way. The rider went back a hour later except for the fellow that was caught the other criminals were back! It is hard to believe. He call security six times, but no one ever called him back. He takes to Sipo and Mogla. Note this seems to be common practice as you finish a race and you tired and you’re not concentrating, so please make a note as soon as you finish to move your cell phone to the front of your bib. Several people also got pickpocketed of their wallets, and I believe 20 vehicles were broken into. The security at this event needs to be addressed; please be very careful in the future. The security company needs to be fired or expect a big crime spree at the next 94.7. The people witnesses said they have never seen such gross incompetence why they had paid these people to do security no one can understand what were they actually doing? I urge everybody to share this so they can be improvement and people don’t get their possessions and cell phones stolen and the security company takes it more seriously and hopefully it’s another security company altogether!!! Please if other people have had their cell phones stolen or other positions stolen to post on the Hub on this thread as important to understand how many people fell victim to these criminals due to the poor security service!
  7. Thank you so much you’re a real champion. What a very nice thing to do very grateful -it gives us all hope when we have wonderful things like this happen.
  8. if anyone has found a Thule long arm clamp that fits onto Thule rack to hold your barking place in Lone Hill area please contact me I would gladly pay a reward.
  9. PLEASE EXCUSE THE QUESTION - but how do I know my start time in the 94.7 I have not received a email ?
  10. Don't sweat the small stuff you'll be overcharged on the insurance and if you're going to try and insure your helmet or your shoes you're wasting your money and your time. South African insurance assessors go out of their way not to pay you out this is the Motis operandi and there is no real short term ombudsman anymore they're fully controlled by GAURD risk and they have no intent in dealing with your issues and trying to solve them morally and rightfully. A photo of your bike is more than sufficient evidence for court to show that you own the bike and it needs to have the serial number you must see that the insurance pay you out for new and it needs to be new stated current model equivalent. Be very very careful of insurance right now and send them as many emails and letters confirming what you are insuring as you can as any opportunity not to pay you is a win for them at a loss for you there's no morality left in the insurance industry in South Africa as there's no one to control them -so it's a free for all for these large corporations which the small independent person cannot fight or deal with because they don't have the time and resources.
  11. Keen but I am a 8 hour rider !!!
  12. Very happy with my tubeless. I have -sworks 28 mm and on semi gravel 32 mm Roubaix with Roval carbon rims. First two month each had one punctures. Easly plug and pumped and on my way. About 4 month in the 32mm had another, plug it -18 months later so far so good!!! I say this great caution ⚠️. They seem to take time to toughen up! Is that possible ? They handle very well and are light. My weight+Bike and kit 85 kg -and running 28mm at 5,5 and 5 back 32mm 3,8,3,5 back.
  13. Ride hard it's even harder then a regular bike but taking it easy it's much much easier.
  14. Yip half way there can be the spare charged battery waiting for you if you have two On a specialized turbo levo with 700 watt battery easily done on one battery if you ride on 15% more or less The fun factor on E-Bike is 100% plus you not broken and still can have a few drinks braai and laugh! The sense of achievement on an E-Bike is 60% The fun factor on a regular bike is 45% to a max of 50% for the average solid rider coming mid-way in the field. Sense of achievement on regular bike 90%
  15. My MacBook indicated that my passwords on Bike Hub had been compromised. I suggest everybody should change their passwords. This message comes up before I even open my Safari. I strongly suggest you take it seriously as this is an important notification that comes automatically from Apple.
  16. I agree but interesting enough the chap I rode with who has limited zero skills only walked about four parts. That’s a momentous achievement. He did fall many times and got back and lip and rode on with a few whimpers but some mtb who been riding for years still get off on some tight switch backs it’s all about perseverance and perspective as well as after the ride I told him “ ignorance is bliss” I saw a gentleman on a Ebike push a lady up one hill she was far in back in the day literally broken and this little bit of care made her day. As noted Sani2sea was about fun and gentleman and ladies and I saw this in all along the route Ebike or normal. This makes South Africa special.
  17. I rode the Sani with my friend who had Ebike and he was highly unskilled. He absolutely loved the ride he was a total gentleman where he could be and it was remarkable to see how embracing fellow riders were whether they were on normal Bikes or Ebikes. In fact so many were so supportive and encouraging. there was only one incident on the last day that some person complained on tough down hill with mud that “this is a race” even though this person was probably positioned number 700. (we did over take him lol) The bottom line is you will always find one or two a ss ho les that are difficult but overall the general camaraderie and support for each other is unmatched and unparalleled. I fully support Ebikes. I will admit I do get a tad jealous when they go past me up iconic but I understand this and it’s all fun for the day. Get a life or a Ebike and face facts Ebikes will be 50 % of the field in about two to three years.
  18. So far no one has come forward. Possibly these bikes were stolen out of Jhb or SA ? Thank
  19. Stolen: Titan and others All type 2019 When: 02/05/2022Where: , Johannesburg, Johannesburg, GautengThe police have recovered all these bikes from a bike hijacking gang and need owners to come forward to press charges asap pleaseGet further details about the incident in the Stolen Bikes section.
  20. Tragic. Driver needs to be jailed for 200 years. Total murderer. Trying to flee the seen clearly indicates that he has a senses about him. Of course it’s the wrong thing to do but it indicates that this was murder!
  21. 10-1 odds driver drunk and speeding. Looks like a very high speed accident. Driver careless. Hope riders had red lights at back..
  22. Where are the Ebike times? 18% of the field I believe was Ebikes. I saw a number of ebikes helping really tired and really broken people up some of the hills they were like Ebike angels as I would say. These people were finished it will push our a day it’s not gonna make any difference there right at the back slowest of the slow. More recognition needs to be given to the Ebike angels.
  23. Key word Human! Some people behave and live life morally consciously devoid of humanity.
  24. Thank you
  25. Anyknow the accent on Breeds from Heckport to the tiny cafe and back 60km more or less
