  1. The heavy metal frames of gravel bikes makes them unpleasant for the short few hours to one day rides most of us do. If you planing a three week to 3 year slow ride they fine. They not fun they heavy and cumbersome. There is no perfect bike it depend on what you like to ride and “were you ride”. I use my gravel on the road and it made me love road riding its like a magic carpet ride. It a carbon frame and on smooth gravel was ok but on slightly rougher stuff I was dreaming of my MTB with 2,35 tires. The roads are in such a bad shape in many parts of SA that I find the gravel a perfect bike for smooth comfortable and kind of fast riding with out fatigue.
  2. I think it be around 11kg a lot of loot for a 11 kg bike- I can't see to much special but its looks good.
  3. I suspect they are scammers as the sight is up and the prices relevant and bank info online.
  4. Then they should take the website down - they update stocks and prices so some must be doing something and they have their bank details on site - my opinion THEY ARE SCAMMERS!
  5. I am trying to contact Cycle Factory online store- both their email and there numbers don't work.
  6. Safty is paramount these days - I first check safety then km and meters climb per day.
  7. From UK And TREK Research- For those who dabble or cross into the dark art of road riding - Research from Bontrager using a rear red bike lights with a bright daylight-visible flash, is the single most effective measure a cyclist can take to avoid being rammed by a vehicle. Recent studies show you're up to 240% more noticeable than a rider using no lights at all. A bright front white flashing light makes you more than 210% more noticeable to cars you will pass, that has stopped at a Stop or traffic light. This should prevent fatal T-bone accidents. A quality, bright light can be spotted 2km away. It can take up to 100m for a driver to unlock a phone when driving at 60km looking down. Wearing bright light colors vests such a Fluorescent material reflects non-visible ultraviolet light in the visible spectrum, making it look about 200% brighter in daylight than conventional colors. This change of bright cycling vest can reduce the chances of an accident by 22 to 32% ~ British road safety Association. An added bonus is wearing a light cycling vest lowers your vest surface temperature by up to 5 Celsius the difference between heatstroke and cool bananas.
  8. Any tips please on how to stop SRAM force brakes from always “Moaning” and squeaking when applied? If there is another post like this please kindly direct me to it. Thank you.
  9. I bought the Ryder AirTank 2.0 from Cylce lab for R1200 and it’s fantastic. It can seat MTB tires (if you correctly position) has a realy good valve to press on to the presto and the gauge is great best of all it fast - fewer pumps. My last pump I bought 11 years ago served me well and still works but this is in a different league!
  10. The fastest category in bicycling in the world sales skyrocketing of Ebikes. I’ve seen haters turn into lovers Ebike opens a whole New World of exploration for both fit mountain bikers and unfit. Their predictions that upmarket bicycle stores in the next five years will be selling more than 50% will be Ebikes. We ride with a number of clubs and there a Ebikes in all of the clubs there’s no issues in fact it’s such a pleasure to have these people on board more people = safety, fun times in the saddle riding with your buddies that wouldn’t ride with you makes all of this possible. I see fathers riding with a sons and Daughters and wives. Ebikes are amazing!
  11. Well done to you and you’re teams doing the response security. 1) Greonkloof is one gem of trail worth keeping safe. 2) It’s realy true bush with animals in the city. 3) Some better marketing and visual security on weekends will do wonders. This could be a Northenfarms! Some local bike parks mite have interest dissing Groenkloof safety. Keep it up.
  12. Until a military type bait and arrest/ kill - action plan is put in place to remove the these violent criminals on the sprait less people will ride there- till it’s just a few brave souls. Police are useless- they to busy manning the beaches for the few swimmers that my be there. No first world country would ever allow this to continue.
  13. Tried all now have Bose 35 - magnificent
  14. Don’t rush to have an angiogram, if they over do the pressure and your and your arteries are a bit brittle you could die. This happened to my dad. Things go wrong, have another option then seriously consider. Avoid anything with the word “Diary” for two weeks and see !
  15. Clear
  16. Agreed
  17. PLET bike store charge a team MTB biker we ride with R300 to change a tubeless. They also claimed new rim tape when the rime tape was done in PE a week before ... most stores charge R60 to R100 to change a tubeless tyre and add 30-40 ml of sealant..! Can’t say that’s respecting the customer! The poor holiday makers getting properly fleeced.
  18. What’s the difference between the Garmin 130 and 130 plus ? Can the 130 run Trailforks maps Thank you
  19. Sounds great. Now just need device to view Trailforks
  20. I cannot stress how important it is to have bright red flashing lights behind your bicycle in some countries it’s mandatory in South Africa with such bad drivers it should be common sense please ride with red flashing lights behind your bike
  21. A lot of self promoting going on. Discovery is good but it become more and more difficult to A) secure the advertised benefits after being baited and hooked then reading and failing to meet the very fine print book of tricks and terms one has to meet. B)Year in year the goal post move much wider apart. C)Few of the benefits are that good anymore. You forced to do baking and exercise and do tests and buy here and there only using this points and this program that cost that amount- I getting tired of all of this.
  22. Sram brakes squeaking with a low intermittent whinnying noise. What can I do pads are still fine. On hard breaking no sound on soft braking hard sounds
  23. Yip me to I find I have to Fix the mess after paying so much money ...! No matter I feel I take good care of my bike and sometimes get my bike back with the odd scratch. I only know of two places I trust my bike one in pe and private chap in jhb. It stops there.
  24. I have Sram brakes and they great they stop hard and fast - just see your weight is far behind the seat - but on a gentle pull squeak with intermittent deep tone. I know it’s not the topic but if any one can suggest a Fix let me know ?
