  1. I just learned that another name for a leap year is a bissextile year. Cool.
  2. hahaha! Give us this day our daily Noakes...?
  3. Wonder if it says anything about "daily bread"...?
  4. It's kinda cool in a way that there are all these little soft drink companies around. Over the last year, I have picked up some bottles are antique fairs from companies that used to operate around my town of Benoni. So far, have got from seven different companies, which at the time would have all been right in the city centre...which isn't all that big.
  5. I also like this one... These two have become the best walkies buddies...
  6. Scar versus the tap...
  7. I bought a jar of Nutella on Sunday - even though I already had at home - just because it had Minions on it...
  8. Oh, and today was samoosas, a packet of Lay's, some dried fruit - jeez, that stuff makes you flatulent, or is ti just me? - and a salami and cheddar sarmie.
  9. Now that it's getting a bit cooler, it might be time to keep a Cup-a-Soup or two in the drawer at work. Are they bad for you?
  10. Let's just say, she'd better pay for dinner before that...
  11. Ja, but mixing it with this would be sacrilege...
  12. Ah, cool...I was already downstairs shopping for lunch while the kid was in the bioscope... To carry on with comics - and to annoy Stretch a bit more... - I saw the latest Batman vs Supes trailer...and I am not altogether over-excited for it. I mean, I will watch it, but I won;t be hanging it for to hit the screens like I was for something like Deadpool.
  13. Love the "you weren't supposed to see that..."! Bwahahahaha! You sorta got a feel for how funny this movie was gonna be if you saw Reynolds in the Wolverine: Origins flick...! Did you stay till the end of the credits? My son says there was a special trailer...
  14. Um, ja, er, well, Deadpool's more of a super-antihero...
  15. Sure there must be an adult movie with a punny title, like The Legover Movie or something... I have come across the odd naughty stop-action clip on YouTube using mini-figs...one even involved a farm animal... I often get into convos with yummy mummies browsing the shelves in toy shops, but then comes the "are you also shopping for a birthday present for your child?" question... "No, for me!" you reply excitedly... At this point, the yummy mummy usually scurries towards the exit...
  16. Hahahaha! Makes me think of the "look up gullible in the dictionary" thing, which sorta reminds me of this from Kiss Kiss Bang Bang... Perry: My $2000 ceramic Vektor my mother got me as a special gift. You threw in the lake next to the car. What happens when they drag the lake? You think they'll find my pistol. Jesus. Look up "idiot" in the dictionary. You know what you'll find? Harry: A picture of me? Perry: No! The definition of the word idiot, which you ******* are!
  17. I still haven't got myself the Volvo... :-( Did check out the new Technic stuff for 2016 though, and got this... Had an odd experience yesterday. Popped up to Grapes in the late arfie to build it while watching the end of the cricket. There was a couple sitting nearby, and the lady had a glass too many of wine. She started by telling me how much her 12-year-old son loves Lego...then later was saying stuff like "I like a man who can handle toys..." before hubby came over, apologised, and said, "Honey, maybe it's time to go home..."
  18. And frightening for this reason... "Brad Norris and Dean Morrison knock dauntlessly at the Gates of Hell — where, much as I’d always imagined it, some awful generic dubstep is playing inside."
  19. While this guy seems to prefer the Prince of Darkness, all I managed to summon up on Sunday was a Lego Pan minifig...
  20. Alas, Benoni is still considered sticks and Spotlight wasn't showing out this way... But, Deadpool... Now that movie is crass, gratuitous, plotless, crude, spurious, pointless... Or, said otherwise, it's frigging awesome! Well put together, laugh a minute stuff...parodies comics, the comics industry...the soundtrack is a hoot too...! Watch it! Edit: Not a spoiler, but do pay attention to the opening credits...
  21. Thanks! I will do. Grumps was actually bitching - he does that a lot - about the head badge for his Cinelli, which was being worked on. If there's one going, I will be sure to let you know. Guys, track pedals from that era...would '60s Campy cages cut it?
  22. Got a bit impatient after yesterday's setback with the Cinelli, so this kinda got dusted off and put together quickly...I had been thinking of using the frame in a sidecar project - haven't abandoned that idea just yet - but thought I would rescue the handlebars and coffee holder off the dead fixie and slap them on something. Found some whitewalls off a cruiser that is somewhere waiting to be painted - that's taking a while, come to think of it - and put them on here. I reckon it's looks alright. Thoughts? Got a coaster brake, so not a fixie, but had oddles of fun on that bike in the past, including one memorable New Year's Day ride at Northern Farm with the late Mark Stockton - he was bit of an SS fan, which reminds me, I must track down the 'Dale I got off him and converted into an SS a coupla years ago... Cornering on singletrack was fun on that hungover day! At first I'd have to think about where the crank was going into corners, because if I adjusted mid-turn, the rear would lock up. Then I realised that's the only way to ride it: drift into and out of corners...occasionally using a tree to bounce you back! Bike had a riser bar then...hmmmmmm... Anyhows, enough reminiscing and changing minds...off to pick up my kid to go and watch one of Marvel's funniest kill lots of people. Cheers!
  23. Thought I'd make progress today...but found myself taking a couple of steps backwards instead. Anyhows...decided to slap on some wheels so I could at least ride it a bit - it's a set of formula hubs laced to F.I.R. tubbie rims - but...Grumps left the seatpost at his mate's house, and the mate was hiding from Grumps because he was tired after a long day of working on Grumps's pallisade fence...long story... I was going to just throw in any old seatpost, put a tubbie on the front wheel - that we had, in Grumps's garage, but in the end, we never bothered with it... - tape the handlebars, and there was the next snag...I love the sweep of the bars, but the left side seemed to sweep that bit more than the right...there was a definite bend, looking like it starts at the collar...I was too depressed to take a picture. Will pop in at Grumps's place tomorrow to drink coffee, shake our heads, and beat something... For now, this is what the bike looks like...the chain is one I rescued off the fixie I destroyed...will work for now... ps, Have buffed the Campy hubs a bit, but still not happy with them...should lace them up early next week though.
  24. Here's the Cinelli I have... And this is what I posted there, sorta...if anyone can correct me and help with info, would be much obliged...
  25. Okay, so Small Fry coaxed me over here when I posted my recent acquisition of a track bike on the single speed thread, but recent posts here reminded of these I posted a couple of years back...on this thread: https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/107249-old-bike-tools/?hl=tool
