  1. From my experience, for the best value for a performance setup Brakes: Formula Suspension: Rockshox Cranks: XTR or Raceface (or equivalent to avoid a SRAM bb) All other parts Shimano and/or Shimano compatible cassette. I prefer Formula brakes over Shimano and SRAM. To me it has always seemed that SRAM is more pricey and more prone to issues than other brands (except for Rockshox which I think is not originally a SRAM company).
  2. It was a joke, get over it. So many uptight people here. If I was to ever ride an ebike, I would expect tons of reticule, which I will find amusing, because I am grown up and have a sense of humour, no need to feel offended or threatened.
  3. You have a cognitive problem comparing car driving to mtb. Get real.
  4. With premium service auto bulk flagger, you won`t have to spend your afternoon manually flagging all rides faster than you. I will build this to auto flag rides every hour. My list of random reason is growing, thank you for posters in this thread for more flag reasons, please add more: 1. eBike 2. MX motorbike 3. Mathias Flückiger`s shadow account
  5. That requires honesty. Riding an ebike is already dishonest.
  6. I will be developing a new Strava premium service that can bulk flag the rides in front of my segment times. People will be able to max out their flagging limits and gain places, however, I have built in an exception that will not flag my own rides. How many rides can be flagged by the same person for a segment in a time span?
  7. How many riders is a person allowed to flag in order to get my KOMs back? Asking for a friend.
  8. Keep the Reba. If it is an old fork, upgrade to a new Reba or SID. Or send it away for service and replace the internals with 2023 parts.
  9. Yes, but he did have a bad slip of the tongue in the Olympics commentating when saying "Tom Pidcock". The lady commentator also found it slightly amusing. I tried to find the place in the video but can`t remember where it is. I think he said "Tom Cock" and tried to correct and said it wrong again.
  10. It was Gerald.
  11. Steel is real but what is this new age singlespeed thing? Did someone`s derailleur break and then it became a thing? Mtb needs more than 1 gear. Give me back my full rigid steel 21 speed beast!
  12. Bart and Rob were great XCO commentators, their vibe can not be replaced or improved on. They`ve never even had a slip of the tongue saying "Tom Pidcock"! , like the SA dude did during the XCO Olympics, in the company of a fellow female commentator!
  13. The passion of mtbikers should not be for sale ever! Who gave UCI the right to sell the passion of mountain biking?
  14. How sad was the post show? I do not understand how RB can just sell the sport and discard the commentators. This was something special that should not be ending.
  15. Sam Gaze won the Stellenbosch MTB world cup in 2018, and was 2nd in the CTCT in 2018 the day after. Then he won the CTCT in 2019 (pic above), but did not race mtb the day before in 2019. So he never won the CTCT the day after competing in the UCI mtb.
  16. For me road riding is constant concertation mostly at more moderate heartrates. Mtb is more intense concertation combined with shorter bursts of higher intensity. When I was doing lots of road riding I always felt like I loose my touch with mtb and needed mtb time to get it back. Never felt like that the other way round.
  17. He was 2nd in the CTCT and won the mtb.
  18. Mtb requires a much higher level of concentration than road and must be practiced on a constant basis. A lot road riding will make this mental requirement unfit.
  19. Yes, because there is more footage than the drone footage, and on that footage it can clearly be seen what happened. Mini-whip jump by Surrou copied by Gaze, but Gaze getting his front wheel landing wrong.
  20. Looking at it again, it looks like a little tail whip that went wrong. Sarrou can be seen tail whipping over the jumps, but the 1st jump is like a half a mini whip, not enough air height on the jump. Gaze seemed to copy the mini tail-whip of Sarrou, but got it wrong. This fall is the result of riders showing off to the crowd.
  21. I gave my XT brakes and spares to https://forum.bikehub.co.za/profile/32075-leith/ PM him I think he might have a spare piston.
  22. I am trying the Schwalbe Racing Ray for the 1st time. Took it out to the xco track and to the trails, and this tyre is excellent on the front. I am impressed! https://www.schwalbetyres.co.za/mtb/schwalbe-racing-ray-evo-superground-tle-29-x-2.25/
  23. My fixes was on 10 and 11 speed. I know for sure that the link didn't fail again because I have never broken the same chain twice. I said to myself that if the chain breaks again, then it is because of my dodgy fix, but these chains never broke again after the fix.
  24. Aspens are my favourite fast tyre but I do not have the skills to not fall with 1 on the front. An aspen is a ski slope with 0 grip so it is a fitting name for the tyre. I don`t think Maxxis have a good racing front tyre especially where a bit more grip is needed, N1no can make it work but sometimes he goes down due to a lack of grip.
