  1. yoh.... dunno whether its a cpt or roadie thing, but all i can say i that i appreciate riding in the dirt up north after reading this.
  2. You forgot to mention the Seattle at the Wedge 1km up the Morningside
  3. My first Redstone, and it was really lekker! thoroughly enjoyed it. By the next one I'll be fit enough to do the 50km . My missus also thoroughly enjoyed the 25km, this was her 2nd mtb event. Our kids that rode the 10km are all so stoked with their medals, they wore them to school today. this was the first event for 2 of them. Thanks guys!
  4. MTB keeps a deserted pavement open as an option. And if it's not deserted... well... get a bell. or a fog horn.
  5. Some things never change. The point I was making was that wheels were definitely made for more than the black stuff.
  6. Wheels were invented by cavemen long before roads were.
  7. I've seen some pretty wildlife there too, flip she was quick though. put me to shame seen jackal and owls at night, and lots of buck.
  8. mike... I'm gonna get that "helmet bag" dropped of with you, if you don't mind bringing it with.
  9. i can like to gatecrash maybe...
  10. I usually check buycycle in addition to cwc, looks like they doing the Deore for R306 (cheaper) but the SLX for R650 odd (more expensive).
  11. XT > SLX > Deore.
  12. You know you're a cyclist when you become the 4square mayor of some cycling-related venue and to top it off you earn a badge that says ".... AND you look good in spandex."
  13. i've run both concurrently on the S3.
  14. So modest. Looking forward to this one, hopefully get a few training rides out there in the interim. Similar route to last year?
  15. That means you have to do it twice? Kinda like a 2 day stage event, but in just 1 day.
  16. trust the ss / fixie okes to chirp in uninvited. typical.
  17. My chain got cancer once. It grew extra links. *edit* was meant to quote the benzine being a carcinogen comment.
  18. you'll need about 8% more oomf in 24x34 than in 22x34 (if my rudimentary maths is right).
  19. on a serious note, surely you can manage on 30x22 for most of what you riding? then you'll be fine with a 24 up front, using the 34 at the back if you need (not exactly the same ratio, but close).
  20. Thats a very small chainring for 1x10...
  21. I <3 restivals.
  22. Paraffin works great, especially if you use a thick lube. However, its messy and a bit of a mission. I just use FGS chain cleaner after each ride, and remove the chain and soak it in paraffin for a deep clean every 8 - 10 rides. My lube is thin, paraffin wax-based (T9).
  23. Cycle lab sells a tube-compatible Joe's version of sealant - its made of a different material, and is much more viscious than tubeless sealant. I use it at home for the kids bikes. It comes with a tool to remove the inner part of the valve, then just pour into the choob and you're sorted.
  24. where do you put the remote lockout?
  25. and a dropper post.
