  5. Not gonna be able to make this one
  6. the clicking sound of a lekker cartridge freewheel often distracts & intimidates other riders, giving you additional opportunities to pass.
  7. your EPO order come in?
  8. gonna try make it Mike, I'll just follow the dust trails... hoping there's not tooo much traffic.
  9. How many people currently registered for the 50? What's the limit
  10. lekker @ the 24 hour events too, e.g. the 1 at VG in december, or misty valley in november (we were there earlier this year and battled with signal in general, backup wifi with decent signal would've been great).
  11. i see... that would explain why its sold out on the 2 or 3 sites i checked... haha.
  12. would love to tell you, but my edge 500 freezes up every time i try do a course.
  13. You think? 11-42 is massive. dunno how popular sram's xx1 11s was...
  14. Reading through this and the other 1x10 thread (https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/114999-converting-from-3x9-to-1x10/page__st__16), it seems that if I'm running an XT rd, then it should be compatible with a 1x10 setup... correct? Looking at chainrings for use with an XT crank, the Dartmore Totem chainring looks like a win (also been looking at homebrewed alu, but not sure of local availability). is the Dartmore Simple Chain Guide sufficient? Not sure of whether to go with tensioner + guide in 1 or whether a straightforward bb-mounted guide will do. Also looking at chainrings (for use with an XT crank). Apparently wolf tooth's chainrings don't need a guide, anyone running one of these? http://www.wolftoothcycling.com/products/104-bcd-chainrings.
  15. picked up new wheelset on friday, had an awesome (though short) first ride @ vg on saturday, and loving em.
  16. ya, those people who think that summer / winter is determined by hemisphere all get it wrong. Seasons are actually determined by east / west
  17. Double post...
  18. What single speed cranks are you running in front ? Using a tensioner? Crank with bigger teeth ? Maybe some pics of front ring setup....
  19. Just saw a post by pigspotter a couple of hours ago.. Cyclist has been knocked down on Robin, just before Main road in Bryanston. anyone know more info about this?
  20. thanks thanks rouxtjie, hopefully i can find it on saturday
  21. R860 a month if I commute once a week, which I more or less do. Now the trick is to get strong enough to ride to the riding venues 100km to Cullinan would have been a bit of a killer.
  22. Correct me if I'm wrong VG regulars, but i think the floating bridge is at the Start of this: http://app.strava.com/segments/4255812
  23. I have 3 Strava KOMs.... that MUST count for something?????
  24. explain to the noob, please, what the major differences between XC, trail and all mountain are? I know different bikes are labelled as xc / am / trail based on things like travel & ds/ht, but what are the key characteristics in determining what type of RIDE i just went on? I know I do mountain biking on a HT with 100mm travel. sometimes i hit drops and big climbs, cross rivers and bridges. sometimes i ride nice smooth flowy trails through forests and along jeep track. have no idea how to answer the "discipline" question.
