  1. Route maps and profiles here http://mysite.mweb.co.za/residents/jcl/2014%20gansbaai%20maps.html
  2. The routes have been finalised and the profiles will be available tonight
  3. Here is the second installment, part three! The local farmer is still clearing part of the single track on the second climb, so rode the third climb instead. The climb is has some steep bits, but for the most you can look around and enjoy the view. Saw two grys ribbokke, a Stanley's bustard and some eagle that I could not identify. The heather is truly awesome along the section that goes through Farm 215. For those that enjoy downhills, you start with a pretty intense 2 min ride after a brief respite along the top of the mountain, then a longer flattish bit before an 8 minute fly down to the farm houses along dual single track (our version of jeep track!) The tracks are not manicured, and you have to be alert and riding within your limits. Enjoy!

  5. We have added a short clip of the new jump at the end of the video http://youtu.be/MzXV8xhmZMY The local farmer has started clearing the route, but we have decided to keep the first section ungroomed. Rode it last weekend and it has a really good mountain feel. The shrub around the little jumps have been cleared and some of the more dangerous rocks removed. It is baboon land, so the odd rock might still be moved - so caution is always needed. The weekend festival is also looking very good, lots happening, Good music, as well as loads of other activities including a trail run over a different section of the mountain.
  6. For those who have done the route before, there are some changes. The Flowervalley single track will be extended to make the climb a bit easier and more fun. The weir has been taken out of the route because so few could ride it, and also because the organisers are not sure of the water levels in September. The downhill at the end has also changed, more tweespoor and less road. The route is now about 42km, but about 1400m of elevation. So expect a good long ride in terms of saddle time.
  7. http://mysite.mweb.co.za/residents/jcl/News%20pictures/new%20jump%20001.jpg Side view - if you're slow you will land on the table. If you are a bit faster you will land on the landing with a good straight slope.
  8. http://mysite.mweb.co.za/residents/jcl/News%20pictures/avoca%2029062014%20006.jpg New bits have been added - this is a fun jump to do or just to roll over. The are a few easy kickers ( small drop offs) that have chicken runs around them
  9. http://mysite.mweb.co.za/residents/jcl/News%20pictures/avoca%2029062014%20004.jpg Fynbos allround. Most of the route goes through fynbos conservancies.

  11. Thanks, even blew me away. Pics will follow soon though
  12. not sure what happened in the previous post, can't seem to undo that either!
  13. You can't countersteer at low speed, just not possible. If you want to picture the effect at higher speeds, get Brian Lopes book, or picture an ice cream cone rolling in a circle, a very basic picture of what happens when you lean a bike. To try and understand the two types of countersteering 1 to tip the bike into the turn at higher speeds 2 to correct the bike in a slide or drift, or hold it to continue the corner, only at high speeds
  14. Not sure of all the details yet, but it seems like 3 distances are planned, 10, 30 and 45. The 10 will be much the same as before, but the 30 and 45 will have some changes. Check out the video for the first section of the longer route
  15. Thanks for the info, would have made the incorrect assumption with a newer fork!
  16. 2007? 120-150 dual air
  17. I've just checked my manual - they definitely spec 15ml right leg and 6ml left leg
  18. Maybe, but a lot of guys put in 15ml due to RS data, I generally measure the oil that comes out, and has always been more than 5ml. I know you guys are experts in this field, so would appreciate just a bit of know how here of why I should put in 5ml. Is that only on the longer travel forks? My revelation is due for a service fairly soon.
  19. Your rebound will still function to a degree because not all the oil has leaked through. The amount of oil coming out the lower will give you a clue. You should only have about 15ml in the botom.
  20. Probably oil from the damper leaking into the lowers if the problem wasn't always there. Pour out the oil from the damper leg and see how much is there, if quite a bit less than what it should be then loosen the damper piston shaft and see how much oil is in the lowers. But does sound like hydraulic lock due to too much oil in the lowers.
  21. Group rides in Hermanus and Stanford (Hermanus' leave from Engen near Hemel and Aarde - speak to the crowd there) Stanford leave from the Caltex (check at info) Else look here: http://mysite.mweb.co.za/residents/jcl/rides%20to%20do.html
