  1. What kind of test did you do...20 mins? If you have the data and have a couple of decent all out efforts in the last 60 days use, then calculate it via a CP model...a lot more accurate than a 20 min test.
  2. Hi Ta-chang Yu, We used to bring them in. I may still have unit or two of what is now known as the PowerPod Lite. If you are planning on using it on a MTB,I would discourage you from purchasing unless its only gravel that you will ride. On the road bike they work excellently as long as you set it up right and willing to take the time to dial it in. DM me if you are still interested
  3. Hi all, just to keep you guys in the loop we are finalizing the winter series and should have it all fleshed out over the next 2 days. So keep an eye open, will post the details in the next 48 hours.
  4. Hi guys, just some feedback from my side. Jay56 sort of summed it up. What started as trying to get a virtual race series off the ground was hindered on a couple of fronts from the beginning. Zwiftpower firstly being down and changing some of their rules in their update process (which impacted tracking the series) , the reluctance of people racing to sign up with Zwiftpower so we could easily access results, and last and not least the virtual doping (when we start seeing guys just managing to break a 3 hour 100km ride in real life beating the current u23 SA champ....we now somethings up). The intention was to offer some cool prizes for category winners etc, but without validation of the rider and equipment, I saw this as a potential problem. We could look at forcing the top finalists into a studio to race against each other - but does that take away the fun element of all of this (some input would be appreciated??). Saying as much I would like to look at getting the series up and going again, but I still need to address the above issues, which in my spare time I am are trying to get my head around - that's the reason its still in rotation on Zwift (it wasn't easy getting that spot). It would be great to hear some suggestions from you guys that are interested to help get this to where we intended to. Would be great to iron out the issues and see if we can do this properly come March or April this year.
  5. Carlo, thanks for the memories!! Like Sam81 it was great reliving the event through your report. I think it would be a disservice to everyone on the Hub to not have a race report from you for 2019! Why don't you make your Option 2 funding model a reality....get onto one of the fundraising websites and let the hubbers start donating some cash - I'll definitely donate, on one condition you give us a monthly report on your preparation.
  6. Well done everyone who raced last night......results from Zwift attached! Always great to see the same names there.....creates a great competition between all of us.
  7. Great going last night! Once again another hard ride. We had around 55 entries with about 40 finishers (must of been the headwind that caused the drop out) Well done to Peter Avenant for taking the first South African home title, sustaining 4.1 w/kg. https://www.zwiftpower.com/events.php?zid=84368
  8. Hey guys, heads up....we've managed to move Fight Night to 6:40pm. I know a lot of you had some issues with it starting so late, so Zwift have allowed us to secure another time slot at 6:40pm on Wednesday, which we are going to try out. This week we are back in Innsbruck for another fast climbing lap! See you all out there!!
  9. Was great to be racing again last night!! We had just under 40 riders in the race. The Innsbruck course is definitely challenging. Well done to James Barnes who got the win averaging 4.9 w /kg (i have a feeling he had to work for that one!) and 5.3 w/kg for the climb!
  10. Hi guys, sorry for the silence over the last couple of weeks....there was this little event called TransBaviaans that we were all involved in....... Anyway we are back and the series is definitely still ongoing. We have been giving some thought on how we track the series and hence we can then start allocating leaderboards and prizes. What we are in agreement with, is that unless you are registered on Zwift Power you will not be eligible for any positions or leaderboards. (but remember the main focus here is to have some fun!) We will be taking the your top 10 results over the 25 - so there is still time to register. We are also working on getting an earlier slot between 6:45 and 7pm which will hopefully suit a lot more people. Besides that we will see you on the course tonight!
  11. Well done to everyone last night! The results from Zwift attached. Remember to head over to www.zwiftpower.com and register https://www.zwiftpower.com/events.php?zid=72477
  12. Forgot to attach these last week....the overall results from last weeks race! Well done Emce! Some tough racing up front
  13. This week we head back to London, but not to Surrey Hills! We are doing 2 laps of the Greater London Forward Route, giving a total of 42 kms with 488 m climbing. It's a very similar course to last weeks Watopia course, a lot of flats with one decent climb per lap. The racing snakes should come in somewhere just over an hour, with the backmarkers in around an hour and a half. Remember to register on Zwiftpower so that we can track everyone that has entered and start getting the league going. See you all out there tomorrow night!
  14. This weeks race is 2 laps of the Volcano Climb Forward (each lap is 22.8km and 192m asc)....so a lot of flat with a little bit of climbing. Remember to register on Zwiftpower and opt in via your Zwift account......login into my.zwift.com, go to settings and select "connections", look for Zwiftpower and select "opt-in". This will allow us to start tracking the events and results.
  15. The results from last night! Was some great racing all around. Lots of people doing PR's and even resetting their FTP (so as we've always said, this is great training!) Well done once again to William Hans who was the first ZAFFA (and in all probability was first overall). Well done also to the first lady across the line,Odette Guy, who came 17th overall (and who also taught me a lesson and put 50 seconds into me on the final climb.....) Next week we are aiming for a flat or flatish course back on Watopia.
  16. One of the last big pushes that split the group, on the little climb to the Volcano. Some decent power numbers there!! Shows you what you need to be pushing out at the end of the race to make the final break!
  17. The final sprint of the leaders. The bunch wiggles down from around 15 half way through to the last 4 at the end!
  18. The results from last night.....unfortunately not conclusive. We are still getting the additional files.
  19. Hey guys, Awesome racing last night! I’ll post some photos of the race and results in a short while. Once we start incorporating prizes (and once ZwiftPower is up), we will definitely start looking at heart rates etc. Like someone above mentioned, you may just want to race and don’t have a heat rate monitor, is that ground for disqualification....I think if you are in line for prizes then definitely a HR monitor will be required, no zpower and no power ups! Even if heart rate is mandatory, there is still weight that needs to be inserted correctly - something we will have to work on. Age group versus w/kg - yes it is something we are watching. If we introduce prizes, it becomes very difficult to control if a certain rider is actually 3w/kg rider or not. Nothing stop you from entering a lower category. The format of the race is that everyone starts together, so groups should form naturally regardless of any categories - in actual fact the first category that needs to be addressed is men and women! Guys we would love to see this grow and want to do some exciting things going forward, so the suggestions and input from all is much appreciated!
  20. This Wednesday we head to the flats! So time for the guys and girls with the big watts to show what they can do. 4 Laps of Volcano Flat which will give us just under 50km's It's going to be fast!
  21. Thanks for joining guys! Another hectic night of racing and some tired bodies today. The results are attached. As you can see there seemed to be a problem with the first two recorded across the line, both finishing in under 18 minutes - so looks like a Zwift glitch Also a huge well done the ladies that rode last night (i think we had about 10 to 12 ladies racing). Great to see the ladies represented last night. Unofficially, it looks like J Kniep won the men's race with a time of 1:15:32 and the women's race was won by S Eckard in a time of 1:33:02 Great riding there! Next week we are back on Watopia, and hopefully on a flatter course this time around! Will keep everyone posted......
  22. Yes, we are back to Surrey Hills this evening! There were grown men crying on that last climb last week, so we thought it would be great for everyone to re-experience those tears of joy! The race is 42km, HOWEVER there is a "neutral" section in the beginning (which is never neutral!) which adds a kilometer or two.
  23. I think what is being referred to is that there are two settings that you can ride under in Zwift......Erg/Sim mode, where the smart trainer controls the resistance based on the changing terrain and Manual mode where it is not controlled and you ride at a "constant" wattage (by the way you can set another app to control the trainer and hold that wattage at say 3w/kg, and still ride on Zwift - but Zwift will just record and not control the trainer - so on uphills and downhills you will always be at the same wattage). Personally I think it's much harder trying to race at a consistent wattage, that having the ability to push a hill and recover. Again IMHO I don't think there's an advantage riding at a constant wattage in a race.
