  1. Same here - very happy - items were shipped quick quick and like someone already mentioned, don't blame them for delays - chances are it's SAPO's fault.

    Have you ever

I know some of the people who regularly ride with us by their bikes and components. I've "met" some of them of the bike for the first time only to realize it's Pietpompies (or whoever) who rides the Momsen SL 929 with the red grips etc. With all the helmets, shades and buffs covering us it's no wonder. I also check the crank, RD and sometimes fork on most bikes I come across.
  3. I hate this time of year when most of the US shows have ended their season's run. Waiting for: Blacklist Greys Anatomy Chicago Fire Chicago PD To start up again Busy with Body of Proof (S03),Hannibal (S02) just to keep busy.
  4. You should be able to download the ANT+ software (Ant+ Plugins & ANT Radio Service) from the Google Play Store - that should sort you out if the TomTom strap is Ant+ capable. Edit - Just Googled TomTom Ant+ and according to DC Rainmaker, it doesn't seem like the TomTom stuff is Ant+ compatible.
  5. I am a broker myself - so BIG like for this comment - You really have to be clued up and knowledgeable on insurance if you want to insure with a direct insurer and be confident that your claims will be paid. There is a saying assume - makes an @ss of u and me - and with most direct insurance companies - assume your always covered at your own peril .
  6. How bad would it feel to fail at "life" instead of history But ja, we would be "spykered" a lot less if we were made aware of all these pitfalls in life.
  7. Be very careful with Outsurance in doing this (repairing damage out of your own pocket to save the Outbonus). Here is a documented case where a client with a high value vehicle did this - he repaired the vehicle twice at his own expense - then the vehicle was written off and Outsurance started to investigate - they found out about the previous "losses" and repudiated the claim - their argument: the client's loss history would have influenced his risk profile and they would have adjusted his rates accordingly - therefor they didn't get their correct premium. The case went Outsurance's way. You can check out the full detail here: http://www.moonstone.co.za/ombud-determination-jerrier-vs-outsurance/
  8. According to the Vipa FB page it was "more than 50" = hectic
  9. Hubber Blits is also riding - Team Braveheart. Her team mate came in riding the last 50+Km on Blits's water bottle - they had trouble with his seat and ended up placing her bottle over the post just to be able to finish. It was also mentioned on Vipa's official Facebook page
  10. I can't find my name / time on the preliminary timing results - I assume they will not be on the official results then? According to my Bryton and Strava I did the half marathon in 2.33.08, but this will not count for my next race's seeding. I enjoyed the race, but some of the things going on behid the scenes were not up to scratch. What gets me, is that a well established event like the Barberton lost the prestige of an MTN / Nissan / Miway sponsership and it gets handed to a first time event full of snags and issues. The fact that somebody didn't get killed on the final downhill towards the finish line is a miracle in itself - the crossing where pedestrians were left to cross without a marshall was an obvious sign of bad planning too.
  11. There is just something about the Barberton that always leaves me feeling a bit "damaged" afterward. This was at least my 4th outing on the 45, so I knew what to expect and even after my best Decembers of training I still had to pray myself to the finish - sheesh it was hot and hard and the downhills were a lot more rutted and rocky than previous years. One of my fondest MTB memories was created on the forrest single track (on about 26km) - it was foggy, no riders within seeing distance infront none behind me - it was surreal just to flow through this quiet, magical forrest - very cool. This was followed by one of the nastiest MTB memories - the rocky climb at around 38km - that was something new and I wasn't prepared for it. By the way I'm feeling today I won't go back, but you'll probably find my name on the entries again next year.
  12. Hi Barberton XCM MTB How is the timing going to work - do we still just bring our number boards from the MTN / Nissan series with?
  13. Does anyone know who the distributor are for these shorts? I would like to get my LBS to start stocking them, but we can't find any info on them. Does the company still exist? They have a very poor Web presence - and apparently Indola is also some sort of hair care product. Any contact details for them will be greatly appreciated.

    Strava users

I hope Strave will start to support ANT+ devices in the near future. I got the Samsung Note 3 and it supports ANT+ out of the box and from what I hear the upcoming Android 4.3 update will also enable this on the S3 / S4. I have a Garmin chest strap from my Forerunner 305 and would love to use it with my phone and Strava. It looks like Strave only accepts bluetooth transmitters at this stage According to the little research I've done Endomondo already supports this ANT+ feature.
  15. Check you pm
  16. Hanibal - For those looking for "Scully" she is in a couple of the later episodes - can't wait for S02 XIII - Not really Oscar stuff, but it passes the time Blue bloods - Struggling to get hold of S02 Don't Trust the B*tch in appartment 23 - bit of centre comedy Auction Hunters Sons of Guns Top Gear
  17. You noticed the Apple on the central heating system - I have some bad news for you my friend...
  18. Also have a 305 and would gladly trade it in on an Edge 500 / 510 - C'mon give us some freaken figures
  19. I'm looking forward to the Barberton (end of January) and Sabie (end of February) races to try out my bike in racing conditions. The Barberton with the 15Km long jeep track climb (at about kilometre 6) will be easier, I assume, but the following 3 - 4 km's after the water table at the summit, will be interesting - fast, winding switch backs, littered with with loose rocks (refered to by some as baby heads). I know I've managed to gun down that part on my D/s in the past, but might have to use a bit more caution on the H/t.
  20. Wow, some nice confirming answers came in whilst I was typing. Main things: Consider the terrain where you do most of your rides Where can you get best value for money (I got a full XT 29" H/T rig for just under 14K) Ride before you buy - swop out with someone in your training group with a 29" D/s and another with a 29" H/t for at least 15 -20Km Ride behind a 29" D/s and see the amount of movement on the suspension setup - best I've seen so far is the Spec's with their "brains" almost no wasted movement on that rear wheel - bit expensive for my budget though.
  21. Let me answer you quickly before the troll parade start pounding you with rocks and stabbing you with sharp sticks for asking such a question - because I also asked this question about three months ago expecting some serious answers, because let's face it - this is kind of a big leap. I switched from a 26" D/s to a 29" H/t on 24/10/2012 and have done just over 700km since then. I thought the lack lack of rear suspension would take away much of the comfort of riding, but I was wrong. We ride jeep track / farm roads / railway service roads about 85% of the time and I've yet to come home with a "bruised" behind. If you're used to a 26" H/t you'll find the D/s "comfortable" but sluggish on the climbs. The only place where I've noticed a real disadvantage on the H/t is on technical (rocky) down hills where the D/s would keep your rear wheel on the ground, ensuring a more stable line - but for you, being used to H/t, the bigger wheels will only bring joy.
  22. I would venture a fair amount of Randelas that Mr. Sars won't be in any mood to process your shipping till at least 07/01/2013 - that's if he can get past the back log building up since November. I'm waiting for some stuff from DealsExtreme and my Raspberry Pi's already ordered in November - I'm not going to the Post Office before mid January to check.
  23. I got the 29Pro - LOVE this baike - Tomorrow is one month and almost done 300Km no issues except that I broke the seat clamp (crappy), so get a spare 34.9mm clamp. Just for the record: Brakes = Avid Elixir 5 (Not the M505 on the spec sheet) Shifters = XT Get it soon - with the deal on the ZTR Crest - they'll also have to swop the Racing Ralph Performance to the Snake Skin if they are doing the tubeless conversion. The Arch EX that comes standard is very nice (bit more weight) and is regarded as a bit more robust due to the extra bit of aluminium in the design.
  24. How old is your bike - I know some manufacturers have a 1-year guarantee on their paint - but ja hey, my bike is less than a month old and I feel teary eyed every time I notice a new nick or scratch. Perhaps if you annoy them enough they'll send you a bottle of touch-up. I went to a local printing shop and bought a sheet of clear vinyl to cover my down tube, chain stays and everywhere else I can foresee problems (cable rub etc.). Hopefully it will protect the paint for a while. The funny thing is that I know that re-spraying your bike can invalidate your warranty. So it’s a bit of a no win situation.
