There was desert?! Van Gaalens is always guarantees for a good ride and a fun day out. Well done to the team! And this year the weather was perfect as well. To be honest though, the goodie bag did not compare to the previous 2 years and the prize giving was a bit 'iffy'... But we will be back next year :-) as this remains a good organised race and route.

she is soooo hot!! ;-) Super exited for this weekend. One of my favourite races of the year!

I also enjoyed the blue route this morning. A very nice selection of terrain, ups and downs. I only found the route markers a bit confusing especially when we were ready to go home. But a very nice overall experience, will be back!

Conversation I had with rider 2630 at the start of the 30km; me: hey buddy... you dropped something 2630 : 'yeah' me: you dropped your packet 2630 : it is empty me: so you drop it on the ground? 2630: yes it is finished me: do you do that at home as well? 2630: yes me: well, why don't i pick it up for you and put in my backpocket ?

not only the Roadies... saw a guy this weekend at the start line of Babba's Lodge 35km that dropped his empty GU sachet right next to him. but i was ignored when i said to pick it up :-) didn't help him though.. he finished after me and i am a slow cruiser but even on the road, motorists simple open their window and throw whatever out ....

I also really enjoyed the race, including the river crossings! well organised.

I enjoyed the article as well, turns out I am one of the culprits although I have never been on a road bike. I like going fast. Still the best MTB magazine

From the wife, I also want to take this opportunity to thank the Rietvlei guys, Maxwell and Samson. These guys helped the medics finding shortcuts thru the bush, helping me with the bikes, bottles, helmets. You guys were awesome! The medic team, Craig, Landre and Thabo; they 'trekked' thru single track, bush and forest with my husband on the strecher making him as comfortable as possible. Thank you guys. Then each and every cyclist that stopped to help, comfort and assist. A special thanks to the gentlemen that stopped and said a prayer for speedy and full recovery of the break. You are all rockstars!!
