  3. Hi D Vader, Thanks for your comment. It is a pity you didn’t get a chance to ride the event before concluding that we are ripping you off. We also do not judge an experience on price per km, but rather try to provide riders with an experience that is worth the fee they are charged. For an event like this, factors such as the route, the vibe, the start end and times, and the features (just to mention a few) are all much more important than the length of the race(?). If we made the race 30km, it certainly would not increase the value by 50%, it would probably detract from the whole experience. Regarding the line entry fee, due to the fact we are running the event every month, we are trying to encourage ALL riders to enter online before the event. We are even going to be keeping the entries open until the last minute to facilitate this. Handling line entries on the day further detracts from the riders positive experience, as it leads to queues and other complications. Trust me, we are not trying squeeze money out of riders (or “rip anyone off” as you put it) – we are trying to put on a top quality, fun event, that maximises the enjoyment for all who enter! So far everyone who has entered seems to agree… Why not come along and enter, and see for yourself?

  9. Race report from Tiaan Kannemeyer on Team ASG's results at Carnival City ag JUNIOR Racing Team The junior race this weekend was even harder for the ag team seeing that one of their team mates fell ill (Ruan Kruger) and they had to race with 3 riders. The race was fast from the start proving that everyone is on form for the National Championship. A split came after 15km in the race and we had both our 2 top contenders Wesley Eslick and Rohan Du Plooy in there. Our team also had a bit of misfortune when Ryan Felgate crashed in the 2nd bunch. Luckily he got up, changed his broken wheel and got back to the 2nd bunch. At the finish our 2 ag riders only managed to get 5th and 6th but still showed good form. Ryan came in at 7th place winning the bunch sprint. ag Under 23 Racing Team The Carnival City race is the last race before the National Championships so orders were to go out and make it as hard as possible in order for the riders to get into top form. The riders showed they’re ready for SA’s with at least one ag rider in each break. Obviously the race was too flat and fast again but the guys gave it their all. Viehann du Plessis made a good attack 15km before the 1st hotspot and got a gap of 45sec at 1 stage to take first hotspot and showed that he is ready for the SA time trail champs this week (It is not easy to stay ahead of a group going at those speeds). At the end it came down to a bunch sprint with Arran Brown taking the win, Reinhardt Janse van Rensburg 2nd and Nolan Hoffman 3rd. Surely this weekend we will see a different picture in Nelspruit where the there is a LOT more climbing involved.

  20. ATLANTIC ODYSSEY, RACE FOR A NEW RECORD Rudy Project eyewear chosen for spectacular ocean voyage! Crossing the ocean is an extreme challenge, pure adrenaline. And when it comes to extreme challenges, those that not only put to the test physical and mental abilities, but also engage in a fascinating face to face with the forces of nature, it’s no wonder the players wear Rudy Project eyewear. And so it is for the Atlantic Odyssey ocean crossing that began in early January from Tarfaya, Morocco heading for the Caribbean island of Barbados. The aim of this expedition is to set an impressive new record: make the crossing in less than 30 days. For this Guinness world record journey involving continuous sailing on board the Sara G., 11 meters long and just under two wide with which they’ve already set records, the six crew members led by skipper Matt Craughwell wear Rudy Project Zyon Sailing sunglasses designed specifically for navigation at sea. An ultra lightweight frame and metal components with an antioxidant treatment distinguish these glasses that feature Rudy Project’s exclusive ImpactX photochromic /&/ polarized lenses. These lenses not only eliminate reflection from the water while preventing eye fatigue and increasing contrast and depth perception, they also offer unique polarization technology. In addition, it’s possible to add special side shields to the frame to protect eyes from annoying reflections, wind and splashing water. To follow the navigation mile after mile, the crew of this great adventure is online at http://www.atlantic-odyssey.com. Guardyan™ is equipped with the advanced unbreakable ImpactX™ Polarized Photochromic Grey lenses.
