  1. AND .... Stage 2 .... Please NOTE - the start will be taped so that there are 3 line options - 1. Like i did - roll the bank and then hit the pallet. 2. Roll the bank - into a small kink right onto a trail next to the pallet. This will loose you 2 seconds. 3. Easy line around to the left - down the shallow bank - then turn right in front of the pallet and onto the same kink line that you will do in option 2 ... It just makes each line progressively slower
  2. a shorter shock will "destroy" the designed geometry of the frame .. making it even worse to ride than just as a std DH rig ... As eveyone has said - you can use a DH bike to commute but in all honesty its not worth it ... If you are still wanting a bike that can handle some off road and downhills (not super hectic - but still fun DH's) ... look at a full suspension trail bike with 6 inches of travel ... This way the geometry is suited more to normal riding and will therefore be easier to commute on ... but you can still have fun with the bike. Something like a Giant Trance - GT Force - Merida 140
  3. i still have these knocking around in the garage a 4 inch travel 1998 Marzocchi Jr T and a 7 inch travel 2002 Jr T The 4 inch one is still amazingly smooth - the 7 inch is a bit dead as i tried to fiddle the internals too much and created a dead spot.
  4. FINALLY - Stage 3 of the Enduro! ... sorry they are all uploading the wrong way around - but you will get the idea.
  5. Ya ... I dont know why its taking so long ... Stage 3 is about 6 minutes long - and is nearly done ...
  6. The Enduro videos are loading but they are taking forever!
  7. you cant really see it on the video - but the top until that little Double is SUPER Steep ... you can ride it on a trail bike no problem, but it takes its toll as its super bumpy and loose and you drift everywhere. But great fun
  8. thats what we are wanting ... if you are thinking of coming to ride the DH on the weekend please remember the following you MUST HAVE ... 1. Fullface Helmet (even a MX helmet is fine - must be a FULLFACE though 2. Long sleeve shirt - OR - ELBOW Guards 3. Long Pants - OR - Knee Guards ... If you dont have these you CANT RACE!!!!
  9. Ok so here is the video of the DH track
  10. ok so videos of the Enduro stages and the Downhill are being uploaded to youtube as we speak
  11. no nickel in that region Some alluvial diamonds occur out towards Lichtenburg in the alluvial diamond fields, with these related to palaeo-river courses of the Harts River, Mooi River and Vaal River.
  12. the bit about Sterkfontein and teh Cradle of Human kind was classic - find the nearest UNESCO site (which is 20 odd km's away from the proposed prospecting area and say that it will be affected ... Come on - Moropeng and Sterkfontein are as far away from the gold mines in Krugersdorp as they are to the prospecting area ... Also the issue with the roads is Null and Void as a number of arterial roads propogate out from the region (R500 to N14 would be best route to major trunk road) ... Please dont take it that I am for Mining (although I am a geologist) .. but in some instances it works and in others not - but people try and find fault with EVERYTHING that is on their doorstep ... Crumbs i know of okes who were bleeting about Shale Gas etc in the Karoo and then when a proposal for a solar park (eco-friendly power) was put through in their area they were against that too as they said it would stuff up the vegetation. Honestly you cant win ... Ok so I have delved into my Minerals Resources of SA book and come up with the following Gold HAS been previously won from quartz veins in the Pretoria Group 3km south of Magaliesburg ... this was the site of the oldest known gold producer in SA on the farm Blaaubank. Although present the mineralization was not of good quality or quantity and was never economic with the depoists being lode gold deposits that occur in veins and are small and erratic. Gold discovered on Kromdraai led to public diggings with gold identified over 3.5km distance - no production figures are available but it seems that although there was enrichment near surface the gold at depth in the veins was refractory and of poor quality. Gold in appreciable amounts is also evident in the basal conglomerate of the Black Reef Quartzite which has been derived from weathering of the underlying Wits reefs.
  13. Nope - standard issue - I deal with this stuff ALL the time as a geologist .. the never keep to their dates etc. They just have to have the public participation completed within a specific timeframe ... I doubt this will lead to much ... Oh and that 50-50 video was a load of propoganda ... love the way those shots taken are from all over the show at random mines ... and some of the comments and statements made were total BS.
  14. Im still confused with this as from a geological perspective the area is underlain by Pretoria Group rocks - Timeball Hill quartzite and iron formation which overlies Chuniespoort Dolomites ... These units are not gold / diamond / platinum / or nickel bearing ... Gold and Uranium are hosted in the Witwatersrand Supergroup rocks which likely occur at depth in the region (similar to at the Klerksdorp region - but this is proper depth (2km or so) so it wont be surface mining. The area is away from the Bushveld Complex so there wont be any Platinum there ... Nickel is also associated with the bushveld Complex so this is also not likely ...
  15. The only place they could potentially find PGE's is to the north of the Magaliesberg in the region around Brits and Rustenberg where the Bushveld Complex is exposed at surface. But this occurs in a belt parallel to the Magaliesberg range about 10km away from the mountains themselves. .. If the property is in the mountain range itself the okes really havent thought their prospecting through .. hahaha
  16. They only have a prospecting right .. and to have Diamonds, Gold, Silver and PGE's on their list - I doubt they actually know what they are looking for as those commodities NEVER occur all together ... I think this is just someone trying their luck with little to no Knowledge of the geology in the region.
  17. I have no idea dude - not my job ... thats Mark Sydneys baby ... but i would think he would be doing it this weekend ... I think ... But the routes are easy to ride and find dude. Stage 1 - Climb up to Gravity up the new Blue route climb ... Stage starts just before the Ranger post where the Giba sign board is ... Along Gravity to the new split at Fern Hill (Before the Bizhub start) ... Turn right over the rollers and down Fern Hill - you link onto the first piece of BizHub and then turn off it again (Left) continuing down Fern Hill ... Where the track Crosses the Bizhub a 2nd time turn left onto the Bizhub and ride up it into the trees and over the bridge where it links back onto Gravity before the tabletops. ... Then run Gravity all the way to the bottom of the Hill. Stage 2 - ride up the Waterfall Trail to the Tar Strips - up the tar strips to the Giba District Road - up the district road towards the Freeway Tunnel ... before the freeway turn right onto the new outer ring trail that climbs you up to the start of Mainline ... Start of Stage 2 is at the top of the hill above the new pallet drop on Mainline ... Then ride Mainline until the bank drop link onto Jethros ... Turn onto Jethros here and ride up Jethros over the little bridge - Then turn left onto the old XC trail next to the road ... (The one that goes over that big rock in the forest) ... Run this trail down to where it crosses the Giba Access road - this is the end of Stage 2. Stage 3 - Starts on the Quarry Run Trail and turns right through the Quarry and then left onto Top Gear (the upper Waterfall Trail) ... then runs all the way along Top GEar back to where it Finishes near the Start of the Waterfall trail near the factories. DONE!
  18. If not spinergy wheels Then a Tioga Disc Drive http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o269/theysellcoke/1GT.jpg
  19. i still want to build something like one of these http://img142.imageshack.us/img142/5852/retrobike145ba2.jpg http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj276/bobber61/porsche/DSC01208.jpg
  20. the old bat outta hell was cool ... but the fun-tax to get to it is not worth it in my humble opinion. Hylt had better make something rad to make me want to ride up Lebanon for that! hahaha There again taking my laziness out of the situation there is tons of potential out there so should be a great piece of trail
  21. if you watch Tracy's run down the hill - you will see a couple of sections that look quite pedally. But on a whole i think Glen and his team have done a fantastic job Would like to see the admin that Red Bull will have to deal with trying to film in such dense natural forest.
  22. hahahaha I was waiting for the PB kids to complain ... They want more tracks and rounds but then moan when there are ... IDIOTS .. I think its cool ... Those switchbacks at the top are incredibly well built ... There seems to be a couple of uphill sections in the track though If you watch closely you will pick them up - steeper up than the flat in PMB - but you also carry speed into them so dont think they will be an issue
  23. well one of you just need to borrow some of Hayley's lipstick for the evening ... hahahaha But no - i spoke to the owner and he said its still cool if you okes go there to chow - just pay the same and get the same chow - will save you having to go out to get food when you are camping there.
  24. i have no idea Hayley - best phone and ask
