  1. Come on now... I don't want theorising! I need to hear everyone say 10min at least (and mean it!!)
  2. I wasn't able to do last year's Argus, and was just wandering what the difference in time's were, due to the bit of wind and heat... I'm trying to get a rough idea so I don't feel so grumpy about me time!! I'm hoping you were all 20min faster last year???
  3. My chain came off at that spot and wouldn't re-engage... scariest moment on a bike with guys flying buy at 50/60kph!! You're a sitting duck - thank goodness the guys behind were alert and awake!!! But that clot's gene pool is clearly unchlorinated!!
  4. With all the timing shenanigans (both honest and/or not so honest) in the last while, I can't see them doing it on your word... do you have a Garmin download to send them maybe?
  5. Yeah, I saw it, it was rather close... just like the clown at the bottom of Smits in the green rain jacket who pulled out right into the right lane and sprinted up the first little hill and then died down the left hand side... and he didn't have a race number on so not quite sure if he was racing to donate blood.... Think you missed that one!
  6. In H. Much more chilled back there! In fact - Well done to H group riders today! It was by far the best group riding I've seen so far. Hardly anyone doing anything too stupid and most people quite relaxed. Especially after the finger pointing and switching last weekedn!!
  7. I thought it was Factor 50 SPF from my forehead!!!!!
  8. You guys are brutal!! I wanted to sneak around my group at one point but that would have meant crossing the white line very briefly... a few minutes later Wannabe reprimanded another guy doing the same thing. I could feel his wrath... I wonder if he would have ejected me, though!
  9. Thanks, bud! And after cramping in last weeks race, you made a remarkable turn around! When we talked about 2:50, I thought that could be a stretch, so 2.40 (and 2:37 ) is awesome. (Although it appears Supersix has outdone us (above!) Well done, Super6... that's an awesome improvement!
  10. I'm actually quite chuffed seeing the results, given the solo effort! Wasn't too far behind except for the first two guys, who by their previous results were clearly slumming in H group. I just got blocked by three non-racers who were having a cruise up the first part of Slangkop and after getting around them I was about 50m behind the last person in the group. Just couldn't close up again. I have to learn to ride smarter and take my legendary lack of hill strength into account and get to the front of the group for the hills. I just wish I hadn't had to do the first time-trail off Boyes. That was a bit of an effort to catch up again.
  11. Good to meet you too, mate. You looked in fine form today up Smits, etc. I wasn't paying attention at two important points and ended up time-trialling from the top of Boyes to past Fishhoek on my own and then being dropped at Soetwater and cycling the last 20-odd km alone. But had my fastest time up oukaaps by 3min and finished strong-ish-ly so maybe the World Champs in 2 weeks will be good. I was chuffed with a 2.40 given the levels of my stupidity!
  12. Kudos to Racetec for fixing up the times!
  13. My point 5: Take corners like my granny on a unicycle (and then haul ass to try catch up)
  14. In order of importance: 1) not being injured and broken 2) good time 3) have fun 4) not having car broken into ... ... 999) racing for the win
  15. Absolutely - I couldn't give a toss where I finish cos I'm really not good enough to worry. But a 2min difference after taking into account the adjusted winners time and the Beta thing they use for seeding can be 4-5% on your weighted seeding. I'm just lucky cos I really think that H group is where I belong at the moment, cos although at times yesterday I thought we were going too slowly as a group, I managed to climb the last hill quickly for a change and had a nice ride, including some leading, and could never keep up with the Hels-goats! RE remembering the numbers I think I was riding passed Wannabe as he commented about the little N fella and we all saw the number!
  16. Standing in H at the start there were definitely guys who went and joined groups ahead having crossed the mats a while after H group went over. But other than two guys who came passed us at Pniel like the group was standing still (and who didn't have race numbers on), it is really unlikiely that the J group is right! And there was a tiny little N-group guy who suddenly popped up in the H group at Spier from nowhere, and who would never time-trail on his own!
  17. Thor Buttox type effort... i.e. "my ass!!"
  18. I just downloaded my Garmin and it was 2:50.01. the two minute difference to 2:52 is about 75 places (give or take). But until I can hang with the fast lads up Hels, I couldn't be bothered to query - it's not gonna make any difference if I get a better seeding, I'll just get dropped quicker! More curious about the amazing times in J and later groups.... speed demons!!
  19. My mate in E has a perfect time to the Garmin. So I suspect they have forgotten the "Stars" or that they concatenated F-G and there have us two minutes further back on the start time.
  20. Mine from H group was also 2 min more than my Garmin!
  21. There's too much truth in them words...
  22. Was that you in the (transparent) white Garmin Cervelo kit in C group??? Big guy who was a brilliant group rider and wind protector, but who should "Say no to crack!"??
  23. What a lovely ride today! Even the rain was great... but then lost my group in the traffic at the start of Van schoorsdrift... It's actually quite pleasant having the slower folk on the roads, but STAY LEFT! Pulling out to overtake without looking is not a good idea...
  24. Wow... it looks like cool, even rainy weather for Sat... (holds thumbs)
