  1. I would prefer not to elaborate,if you don’t mind. thanks
  2. If the sum insured is adequate then they must pay for the upgrade grades. The rest of the advice given on this thread is inaccurate in many instances.I have been involved in the short term industry for 39 years.

  10. Last I heard Discovery don't grant cover for damage to bicycles while participating in timed events. With bicycles being high risk it is my suggestion that one keep this cover separate from household cover to avoid general premium increases in the event of multiple or large losses.
  11. Hi you are not fully familiar with the policy conditions.Where security is provided by the organisers of an event such as the Argus or multi stage races(referring to bike parks) the bike does not have to be chained. You are however correct about going to the toilet before a race.On the other hand if you had no insurance cover on the bike you would be more vigilant when leaving the bike and would ask someone to look after it while you go to the toilet. It does not mean that as it is insured you no longer have to be safety conscious.
  12. Probably the best would be to place the bike under a All Risks Section of a policy supported with household contents cover and motor for example. You must however make certain that the All Risks Section provides cover while in use and participating in races. The downside is that should you be a high profile rider participating in many races the chances are that you will experience an accident on more than one occasion in which case this will impact negatively on your claims loss ratio and premium increase could occur on the entire policy. It is therefore better to place the bike on a specialist type policy with a company that do bicycle cover on its own, such as Cyclesure. The said policy does have certain restrictions but should you familiarise yourself with these you will exercise more care when transporting the bike for example. The service of Cyclesure from a claims point of view is unmatched, they are brilliant. They know bikes,it is after all what they specialise in.
  13. On point 6 reference is being made to the fact that the bike must be locked to a bike rack while in transit or theft out of your car must be accompanied by violent and forcible entry/At least they have brought the conditions to your attention.
  14. You insure with this company at your own risk.A straight forward accident damage claim took 2 months to settle. A case of penny wise pound foolish. I cannot recommend them at all.
  15. A client of mine was involved in the accident that took place on Hospital bend. His bicycle was a total write off.Claim form was submitted today to Cyclesure at 09h33.At 12h33 I was sent a Release form by Cyclesure in the amount of R26.812.50.Claim settled.Well done Cyclesure you have out done yourselves.Riccardo Stermin
  16. Hi Bruce and family.I am saddened to hear what happened to your son.I will hold your name up in prayer and ask that God give you the strength and courage to face this trying and difficult time.Psalm 143 V 8.Riccardo Stermin
  17. I disagree with you there, please note that I have been in short term insurance for 26years(for my sins)20 years as an independant insurance assessor and handled many losses for bicycles.Insurers accept that there will be an improvement between a 2008 and 2010.Should the latter be a fair replacement of the former then that is what you will get.The same principal works on computer losses,a pc 6 months old is outdated, but the insurer will supply you with the current replacement. However should there be a huge difference between what you had and what the current replacement is then any insurer will look at betterment and ask for some form of contribution.
