  1. specs?
  2. You got off lightly! There are funky things in there! I know a kid (markstockton's kiddo) who got anaemic from it; it also strangely gives me kidney stones. When your camelback looks like its gonna explode the next morning after leaving it, you gotta wonder what it does to your insides.
  3. Ride master Daniel, I will definitely ride with you tomorrow. I am trying to pursuade Crazy Neighbour to join as well.
  4. I would be keen on a Spruit ride Thurs arvie
  5. Think I need to visit there on Monday! Havent been there in a year and then already it was greatly improved. Thanks for the feedback!
  6. Get a permit to ride in the forests and you wont get bored. I used to spend a lot of time in the hills. There is a hiking trail from Witbos (think thats what its called, its on the outskirts of George) up to the summit of George Peak. It was ridable last time I went up there although there are a few spots with portage. Bonus is that although its a mother of a climb, the return is AMAZING!! Also, head up to Saasveld, there are some nice trails that start from there.
  7. Yup, still doing the ride
  8. Bad news: go to www.paceandpower.co.za they have some nice eating plans and nutritional advice. Your top priority will be to eat healthy now and then over the race days ensure you are getting a good ride drink and recovery drink into your system.
  9. I loved the new finish. My only issue was that there was no direction to medals etc. It was get a drink and fend for yourself. I also liked the fact that we got a medal and cap. And, they even gave me a medal and cap for a friend who had fallen in the race and was sitting at hospital.
  10. Although.... We plan on getting there dumb early so may get in before the start.
  11. Thanks man bear. Will see how close we can get and cycle from there
  12. I also passed him! Got such a fright - thot it was someone sitting up on their bike then on second glance I saw it was a uni! Heck, he was so noticable my family saw him and was so focussed on him they missed seeing me overtake him!!
  13. Hi all, If anyone is interested, I will be riding Breedts on Saturday. Anyone is welcome to join. We are meeting at 6:30am at the Hekpoort (I think thats the town) BP garage. The pace is going to be nice and easy, so any newbies wanting to join, come and have fun. We are not intending on going over the other side and back up. Lemme know on this topic or via pm if we must wait for you. regards MojoPup
  14. Guys, it would mean a lot to Kurt if we could get some hubbers there. I am going riding after so anyone welcome to join
  15. Thats what we also ordered. We told the waitress that only Windhoek was to be served at our table. When a friend wanted a glass or red wine she refused until we agreed that Mark would allow it. Was good to get together last night. Discovered last night that I have the gps data of his last ride. I will upload it tonight to share with you - will actually upload his last 3 which made up his last training weekend.
  16. Shweet! I am a chicky wearing a pink top and black cargo pants. See you in a moment. All hubbers in area welcome to join.
  17. There is a pub at Douglasdale shopping centre called Gathering o the Clans - near the PnP on Leslie ave (cnr Leslie and Douglas) I am leaving work at 3:30 so will be there at 4. Let me know if you can make it there. Will pm my cell nr.
  18. I am in Douglasdale
  19. Cool. Need to find a place to go for a drink then. Perhaps my balcony I have Windhoek Light.
  20. I also keen on going for a drink.
  21. Yup, that was Mark. We were out there as part of our Sabie/Sani training. He was a great friend and cycling buddy. He helped me train for Tour de Tuli last year, giving up as much time as he could. Then, when I was retrenched earlier this year he was a true friend and took me for a spruit ride. Thats one of my fondest memories. My other one is from Saturday - I get to the top of Breedts and he high 5s me for cycling the whole thing, then bravely decided to join me (he grumbled quite a bit) riding down the otherside and up again. He cursed me all day. He was so patient with my lack of technical skills and even invited me to be his Sani partner for next year's ride. He was a great man and will be sorely missed by all of us.
  22. Morning all, Tumbleweed is correct. I got the call last night to come help, I responded and called Leigh for assistance. We did cpr for approx 10 - 15mins until medics arrived. Just an update - his wife has asked me to hold on the above arrangements until I hear from her. I will keep you all posted.
  23. Hi Hubbers, Just to let you know, Mark Stockton died suddenly this evening. Many of you will know Mark as the eternal mountain biker, hubber, father and friend. He will be greatly missed. I will be arranging the memorial for him which will be at van Gaalens on Friday at 11am. If anyone needs any details feel free to email me at dianelogie at mweb dot coza. I will also be arranging a memorial ride in the coming weekends. For those of you who are friends on fb with him, please can we not post it on fb as there are family members who still need to be notified. Regards Di - AKA Moab
