Pot - do you want some? - Dream big or go home

I have been thinking - dreaming of a cycle race around the City. Thus the route will start some where at Rivonia or William Nicol. The route will then follow the N1 to the N12 offramp to Alberton/ Germiston, then onto the N3 to Pretoria and then back on to the N1 finishing at the start. Ideally this should be a night race (21:00) on a public holiday - lets say the Nelson Mandela commemorative race - with all proceeds going for charity. So to all race organizers what will it take to make this a reality?

I am in as well - would like to do sub 3, but need help on the climbs. Will do my bit on the flats - but then again terms and conditions apply I am on a Bianci C2C - haven't decided on kit yet.

As in the past - great race. Good marchalling - motorbikes a definite must for all races. Saw more accidents than previous years but my opinion is that it is the fault of the cyclist. No patience - in big bunches try to pass over white line, and then when cars comes from the front we just have to make place irrespective that the left side is already full. Heman, I assume that you are the rider in the standard bank kit? Also started in BL and went to the front twice in the beginning - but soon realised that the organisation of a pace line is not going to work - so I just had a good ride.

So the way I understand PPA work is that you get a group number based on your seeding and you use it in all the races they host. If your seeding improves then you apply for a new number. Surely we can adopt a similar system. The problem that I am seeing is that a lot of noise is made on this forum with no critical mass. The decision to adopt a new system is not going to happen here. What needs to happen is that people on this forum who have influence get together and talk and create a well formulated action plan, that they then present to the relevant decision making authorities - be it Gauteng Cycling or CSA. The success depends on the agreement buyin and viability of the presented solution being a win-win for all. I don’t know the cycling communities – race organisers clubs etc. But I do know that people don’t like to take initiative and actually do the work. Because it means that we have to work. So the question then is who are willing to get together and drive this?

Don't worry - I haven't seen that many people who drop back - will see on the day how I feel This race is one of my favorates...

Can't comment on behalf of the organisers, but every time that I participated, i did not experience any problems with the seeding. I personally think that you know your own ability and If you are seeded in a group which you should not be in that you should drop down. I also think that the A bunch “quality” have in proved compared to a couple of years ago. Personally If i get seeded to the A bunch I will drop down to B, because I ended up doing the Emperors on my own. I then met up with the BL’s at 60KM and finished the race with them. My average would have most probably been higher If I started with the BL
