  1. Man, any race where you can take a short cut if you sink a shot of whisky has got to be the best. Are there any single speed mountain bike races here in SA? <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Kiwi2008-08-25 00:04:13
  2. I've got a feeling the Single Speed MTB World Champs 2008 were on this weekend? Can't find any results though... Kiwi2008-08-24 23:58:11
  3. Scientific studies have shown, however, that the vasodilation effects of Viagra also can improve blood flow to the lungs. This can have a positive effect on conditions in which the blood pressure is elevated in the arteries that supply the lungs, also known as pulmonary arterial hypertension. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/news/story?id=3437666 Several studies have looked at the effect of Viagra in a hypoxic (low-oxygen) situation and have found that the drug improves performance by improving exercise capacityKiwi2008-08-24 23:37:19

  7. Unfortunately we are not just talking about mental and physical problems for these under aged athletes, there are some pretty scary stories about selection from ultra young and possible genetic manipulation as well. <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> It is well known that the East Germans, former Eastern Block, Chinese and North Korean types gave certain hormones to their athletes in the past, especially female, to prevent puberty, especially in gymnastics. Check it out. Also there was an article on pezcyclingnews recently where some researchers were able to look at a bunch of these athletes from the former communist countries (first ever study) among the problems were deformities to their children, mental illness and something like 25% suicide rate. 11. With an ISP you have about 20-50mm height adjustment depending on the seat clamp design. On a normal frame you could run a 250, 350, or even 400mm seatpost so the range on adjustment is far greater.
  12. Yeah that's the drawback with the ISP, if you are going to sell it at some stage the buyer needs to be the same height or shorter. Yeti have an ISP on the top 'o the line MTB rig but apparently it is designed to accept a normal seat post if some one taller wants to use it after its been cut.Kiwi2008-08-21 05:53:14

  16. True Temper Sports Wolf SL Fork Voluntary Recall Cerv?lo has identified a potential safety issue involving the Wolf SL fork. This fork is designed and manufactured by True Temper Sports of Memphis, Tennessee, using a blade shape supplied by Cerv?lo. All other aspects of the structural design, development and manufacture were done by True Temper Sports. Under certain conditions, the fork steerer can crack and eventually break during normal use, which may cause the rider to lose control, fall and suffer potentially serious injuries. To date, there have been reports of injuries in the field resulting in minor abrasions and one broken wrist. Though the fork passes US and international standards, this particular problem was not uncovered during those standard tests and the fork only showed this weakness in the field, typically after being damaged. After much work, we did develop a new test protocol that was able to replicate the same failure mode as seen in the field. If the fork steerer is damaged by impact (eg. by a crash, a fall from a roof rack, or another impact) then the damage may progress very quickly during use to complete separation. We have seen that incidence of failure on this fork is higher than on other forks, and there is a potential for injury upon failure. True Temper Sports feels that the fork meets the industry standards and that the fork is therefore acceptable and no further action is required. Cerv?lo does not share this opinion and therefore, is proceeding with a recall of the True Temper designed and manufactured Wolf SL forks ourselves. True Temper Sports has declined to participate. In order to conduct a recall one must be able to demonstrate that any replacement product does not display the same failure mode. We have demonstrated to the authorities that the forks we will use as a replacement - the 3T Funda Pro and the Easton EC90 SLX - pass all standard industry tests as well as the new Cerv?lo test that the True Temper Wolf SL fork fails. We have obviously discontinued all use of the True Temper Wolf SL carbon bicycle fork. However, please note that this does not affect the Wolf CL and Wolf TT in any way, as both have a completely different structural design (and have passed the new Cerv?lo test protocol). Although it is not usual for a third party to recall a product manufactured by another company, we feel it is a necessary step to take care of our customer, and we will proceed with the full recall at no cost to the dealer or consumer. ? photo - Tim De Waele / Cerv?lo If you do not wish to receive Cerv?lo ?News, please click here www.cervelo.com ?News text contents may be used free of charge provided Cerv?lo is credited as follows: ?courtesy www.cervelo.com/enews". 2009 Raleigh

I think our wallets can tell the difference between R20,000 for a botique brand frame and R20,000 for a whole Raleigh bike! We are actually lucky with Raleigh SA, in NZ if you want a Raleigh you end up with the Raleigh USA stuff and it just doesn't compare.
