  2. Fair enough, but has he ever tried BMX? I remember when I made the seniors for the first time on my trusty Kawahara (only you old school guys out there will remember the name). I looked truly out of place, 6'4" on a 20 incher! Anyway, it was our home track, I got the hole shot from the ramp and managed to hold everyone up over the first table top so the top guy took air over the table top instead of holding low and jumped right over me. Could this bad mouther do that? BMX takes track sprinter power, down hill balls, trials level control etc. You don't just race once and go home either, maybe he just doesn't know how it works? 4. Interesting about the Shimano stiffness! I am using 105 10speed blades on my DA cranks for TTs as an experiment. They are heavier because they are steel but they are stiffer and you can feel it changing gears under load. Lighter is not always better.
  5. Found a good collection of SSWC 08 pics: http://www.flickr.com/photos/96201277@N00/2798932672/in/set-72157606958159027/

  8. The TT bikes have been Giants for a few years now, it has only been this year that they say something about developed in association with Giant on the stays though.
  9. In the UK you can use them in TTs as well except the British Cycling Federation races. They are also ok in many TTs in the USA except nationals. I nearly bought one of these custom made beasts from Cat Switzerland http://www.catbikes.ch/starte.htm while I was there, but Rudi wouldn't build me a 700c version, only 26 inch wheeled ones: Kiwi2008-08-26 08:43:59
  10. What? Like this one? I used to ride one of those Softrides in the UK! Man that is a quick bike, especially on long races. They have stopped making them now, wish I hadn't sold mine! This is me on my one in Cornwell I think it was...
  11. This baby is not UCI legal, it's a triathlon bike so it's for any non drafting tri. The aerodynamics are real, this is the road going version of the Aussie Superbike that dominated track racing until the UCI went all retro again.
  12. Thanks!
  13. My new tribike... R7,800 frame, fork & headset. PM if you want one! Kiwi2008-08-26 00:26:26
  14. How about this for an idea: Every race entry into important races includes a testing fee - pretty expensive, there was something about cost on Ryder's site once I think. But after the race and the testing is done you get most of your money back if you are negative. Some would have to be keept to cover testing etc. Anyone who fails pays for all the negative tests and get his ban? Kiwi2008-08-25 05:36:45
  15. I see even more of the pros are riding tubbies and more manufacturers are making them too. Anyone in SA riding MTB tubbies?
  16. Usually they change to a Dura Ace front shifter and a narrower BB to save more weight when going to 2 rings. Kiwi2008-08-25 03:33:13
  17. Check out the finishers meddles for this year! Kiwi2008-08-25 03:31:41
  18. Not sure about that but I think last year the winner was presented with golden speedos, no fancy UCI shirt. Bet those old codgers cringe when they see this!
  19. Mad and fun!

  21. Man, any race where you can take a short cut if you sink a shot of whisky has got to be the best. Are there any single speed mountain bike races here in SA? <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Kiwi2008-08-25 00:04:13
  22. I've got a feeling the Single Speed MTB World Champs 2008 were on this weekend? Can't find any results though... Kiwi2008-08-24 23:58:11
  23. Scientific studies have shown, however, that the vasodilation effects of Viagra also can improve blood flow to the lungs. This can have a positive effect on conditions in which the blood pressure is elevated in the arteries that supply the lungs, also known as pulmonary arterial hypertension. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/news/story?id=3437666 Several studies have looked at the effect of Viagra in a hypoxic (low-oxygen) situation and have found that the drug improves performance by improving exercise capacityKiwi2008-08-24 23:37:19
