  4. Sundays in the Cradle can be f*** frightening, come around a corner and a bunch of those idiots are racing using both side of the road. Why doesn't JB Metro do road blocks there? None of them have plates for obvious reasons.
  5. The main differences between TT and Road frames: -Lower head tubes on the TT bike to allow for tri bars -Slacker head angle to make the bike a little more stable on the tribars -Many tri and TT bikes run a steeper seat angle than a road frame, instead of 73/74 degrees they are often 76 degrees or even steeper. I road raced my P3 alloy at the Amashova and 94.7 last year.
  6. Cool Brad, might find me there soon asking lotsa silly questions! First silly question after looking at your site (very nice it is too): is Flat Land the right type of frame for wobbling riding around the track?Kiwi2008-09-02 02:45:56

  8. I have just been going through the BMXSA rules, check this out: 3.THE BICYCLE 1. SPECIFICATIONS All bicycles for competition must meet the following general specifications:- a. The wheels of bicycles competing in the standard class shall be nominally 20? in diameter. Cruiser wheel size measure at least 22 ? ? in diameter and may not exceed 26? in diameter. So does that mean you can ride a cruiser with 26" wheels (Its been a long time since I road BMX) I don't remember anything other than 24" on cruisers...

Common vision and values ensure a bright future in racing and product development "I am pleased to announce that the Specialized and Team Saxo Bank will join forces starting with the 2009 racing season," said Mike Sinyard, President and Founder of Specialized. "Bjarne (Riis) and I have been talking about working together for years. It is a natural relationship based on parallel visions and values. Both Specialized and Team Saxo Bank are extremely driven and aim to be the best in our respective fields. Our cooperation will enable each of us to achieve more than ever before." http://www.specialized.com/OA_MEDIA/email/common/news_header.gif http://www.specialized.com/OA_MEDIA/email/10031_Tarmac_email.jpg Saxo-Bank will use the Tarmac SL2 in 2009 Specialized and Team Saxo Bank Join Forces Bjarne Riis says, "I am really excited to start this new partnership, and I think that we can create great things together with Specialized. We have had a lot of different possibilities in terms of equipment for the coming years, including working together with our existing partners, but we have chosen to embark on a new project, and we are ready to take the next step with Specialized. There has been a clear mutual understanding and a good business fit between the two companies from day one, and I am convinced that it will become clear to everyone that these are two highly ambitious organizations that are going to collaborate closely in this deal. I chose Specialized based on our common vision, their excellent bikes and equipment, combined with their ability to develop future materials that will help us win." http://www.specialized.com/OA_MEDIA/whatsnew/rides_header.gifhttp://www.specialized.com/OA_MEDIA/whatsnew/events_header.gif http://www.specialized.com/OA_MEDIA/whatsnew/icon_explore.gifTo find local group rides in your area, visit our ride section and connect with other members. 14. Don't the use a smaller bolt pattern? Like 110 or something? Some of the pros use them on mountain stages but they put a 53 (Stronglite make a 53 that will fit a compact) on so 53/36 or similar. Probably see this sort of thing on the Angliru in the Tour of Spain this year.
  15. In what has quickly shaped up to be a whirlwind year of team and sponsor changes, Scott Bicycles will apparently be the official equipment sponsor of USA's Team Columbia beginning with the 2009 season. Team Columbia's bikes are currently supplied by Giant but that association was put into doubt after Giant announced its support of a trio of Rabobank squads beginning next season. Likewise, Scott was already assumed to have been searching for a team after announcing it would cease sponsorship of the still-fresh Scott-American Beef team after 2008. Although none of the involved parties have yet released any official word, the newly updated Scott web site has effectively done so as its top-end Addict LTD is now coined as "the official equipment of Team Columbia." Exact terms of the agreement were not yet known but we will continue to provide updates as information becomes available. https://www.bikehub.co.za/new_topic_form.asp?FID=1
  16. Kids are never too young Intense Mini BMX... 20inch skinny wheels' date=' but very small frame... [/quote'] Yeah, some of those micros run tubbies and more Ti than a Litespeed!
  17. Yeah I'm thinking 24's too. But see I woke in the early hours with a plan I can try on the wife. Get a 20" to get the boy interested and when he's old enough (only 3 this year) he can (maybe) ride it...
  18. Wasn't there an ad in one of the local mags recently saying SE will be selling here in SA in 2009? I allways lusted after a PK Ripper or the alloy version of the Quadrangle but I could never collect enough refundable bottles!!!
  19. Introducing Cerv?lo TestTeam Bike industry?s thought leaders put a new spin on professional cycling and product innovation Cerv?lo, Zipp, Speedplay, Vittoria and 3T are pleased to announce Cerv?lo TestTeam. Beyond racing, this new professional cycling team will provide a comprehensive, engineering-driven test ground for new product development. ?We are proud to have played an important part in taking Team CSC from fourteenth to first in the team world ranking and in Carlos Sastre?s Tour de France victory,? said Gerard Vroomen, co-founder of Cerv?lo. ?It was the dedication to excellence by both the equipment sponsors and the team that made it happen. Most of all we appreciate the confidence Bjarne Riis had in us back in 2002 and thank him for these past six years. The financial realities of pro cycling today have caused a change in priorities for the team, and we respect that. Our main reason to work with a team is to develop new products, and how better to accomplish that than by owning the team." Since its inception, Cerv?lo?s focus has been on R&D with a strategy built on four pillars: theoretical analysis, lab testing, materials and manufacturing research, and road & race testing. Theoretical analysis ? Utilizing partnerships with key software vendors, and Cerv?lo?s custom created software programs, this provides state-of-the-art lay-up analysis and tube shapes. Lab Testing ? For countless hours at the windtunnel and in the structural testing lab, Cerv?lo engineers put new products through a strict regimen of their own tests, highly developed procedures that surpass current industry standards. Materials & Manufacturing Research ? Material research and manufacturing techniques provide a unique competitive edge. The pursuit of these disciplines has resulted in a test lab in California focused on developing the techniques for future generation Cerv?lo frames. Road and Race Testing - For the past six years this was accomplished in collaboration with Team CSC. As with all testing, Cerv?lo and its partners know that product development will be more efficient and effective with complete control over the activities and goals of the team. ?Cerv?lo TestTeam will race as a professional cycling team with a Continental Pro standing,? explained Vroomen, who sees the approach as a positive step that could help make the sport healthier. ?Currently pro cyclists are judged only by their racing results, which places a lot of pressure on them to perform. Race performance is only one component of Cerv?lo TestTeam. Our riders will also be involved in field-testing and providing technical feedback. In addition they will participate in activities with our customers, making them more accessible to cycling fans.? Cerv?lo TestTeam will be managed by Cycling United Racing out of Switzerland, together with the professional women?s team currently known as Team Cerv?lo-Lifeforce. ?As a partner of the women?s team, we have seen their very high level of professionalism and their impressive results,? said Andy Ording, President of Zipp. ?So it was a natural decision to use the current platform and reinforce it with additional staff.? A four-year commitment of additional private funding provides a competitive budget to race at the highest level. With the core of the roster now confirmed, detailed announcements will be made in the next few weeks. As for the team name, Cerv?lo TestTeam is a working title. Several companies have already expressed an interest in becoming a major sponsor, which may affect the final name of the team.
