  1. The reason for having training wheels and race wheels is this: Your training wheels should be tough and a bit heavy, therefore when you switch to your lighter, faster race wheels on race day you will actually need to produce less power to do the same speed. <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> You actually gain more from your training because you worked harder than you would on your race wheels in that given time. Secondly your training wheels would have heavier and cheaper tires that will do many more miles than a race tire/tubbie will do and need less maintenance overall. So if your training wheels are some cheapies and you also have some race wheels you will actually save money over time. Kiwi2008-10-15 07:04:00

  3. Ok, if you could get these tyres here what colour(s) would you be interested in? Would you be interested? They are 198 grams each, waiting on construction info at the moment. See Poll Part 1 for more colours! Around R250-300 each depending on the US$

  5. You CAN actually get shin splints cycling from two causes that I can personally vouch for. <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> 1. Pronation, if your foot rolls or pronates when you are cycling you are doing a similar thing to when you are running. 2. If the sole of your cycling shoe can flex to much it can lead to shin splints as well. Both pull on the tendon that runs down the inside of your shin and the result is the same as a running shin splint. Google for pronation exercises for the muscles under the foot. Over time you can strengthen these muscles and reduce pronation and the possibility of getting shin splints. The best guy I know of to see is: Vernon Lever ( a cyclist) at Foot & Biomechanical Centre Lever Amler Foot & Biomechanical Centre 19 Bradford Road Bedfordview Tel: 011 - 622-4680/1 Fax: 011 - 616-3510 Kiwi2008-10-15 03:58:14

  10. I've got heavier duty ones comming, not until November though. They look like our 29er wheel sets, same deal, rims, Kenda Nevegal tyres, tubes and QRs. Fast rolling sealed bearing hubs, 32 spoke front and rear. Shimano Centerlock, adaptors for ISO 6 bolt just slide on the Centerlock groves. Tough enough for a bit of jumping off stuff! 12. That's right Willehond, Trek dumped Lemond because he was very vocal about drugs and Armstrong but the bikes are very good, just put new stickers and paint on them and watch the dollars roll in next year!
  13. PPWFT has a very good point, imagine if Eddie Merckx was riding today? He would be under constant attack. In fact didn't Merckx he have something "strange" happen at the Giro one year... "During the 1969 Giro d'Italia, he was found to have used drugs and was subsequently disqualified. He cried in front of the reporters, and to this day, protests his innocence. He argued that there were no counter-experts nor counter-analysis and that foreign supporters hated him. Further, he stated that the stage during which he was allegedly using drugs was an easy one, so there was no need to use drugs. The Belgian prince sent a plane to bring him to Belgium."Kiwi2008-09-19 00:07:40
  14. I http://www.cyclingnews.com/tech.php?id=tech/2007/news/03-14 Reckon he will ride an Armstrong by Trek (no Lemonds anymore so they could respray a few of those!) Nike, Oakley etc have been life long sponsors (they supported him when he was fighting cancer) so them too maybe... Kiwi2008-09-19 00:19:38

  16. Using cantis may have something to do with the arms of the calipers sticking out, remember these guys often run with the bike on the sholder as much as they ride, depending on the course. A V brake arm in the back would really suck.
  17. When we say mud, we should also say snow, truely mad. It's also the reason why you see deep section aero wheels on the pro bikes, the mud slides off a lot easier.Kiwi2008-09-17 06:03:42
  18. Mud clearance. I don't think the oldies at the UCI will let them run disks. Kiwi2008-09-17 00:35:55
  19. Thanks Mampara!
