  1. I'm in the process of upgrading my bike and want to get some feedback. I know there are not too many Cambers around though but there must be a good couple of 2012 Sparks out there. How is the feedback on them. I can get a Spark 40 for quite a bit cheaper then the Camber. Always been a Specialized fan but both bikes have very good components. Plus on the Scott is the twin lock out and 3 x 10 XT cranks. Then again the Camber has the new 142 x 12 rear and the Scott is QR. I'm not a racing snake but want a quick fun bike. Any comments welcome please. Thanks
  2. Did mine about a year ago by clipping a tree at Giba. Also plate and screws. I took it easy for 2 or 3 weeks then got my bike on the stationary trainer to try and keep some fitness. Got back on the trails 6 weeks after the OP. I might have been a bit carefull but wanted it to heal properly.
  3. Who's doing the race this weekend? Should be loads of fun. Checked the routes out on Saturday and it looks really good especially the new section coming of the dirt road. My bike has got a new set of tyres and I'm busy changing wheels bearings then I'm all set for the weekend.
  4. Bloody new phone putting down the wrong words. Good explanation though.
  5. Just put a 2.2 Mountain King II tuneless on the front of my XC bike and. Ery happy with it. Going into Leigh's this week for my rear Cross King then the bike is sorted
  6. It's Mark from Good 2 Go. Don't have their number on me now though. He's your guy.
  7. It was a really fun day. I thought I was all ready for my first race run only to figure out 5 sec before my start that my goggles were around my neck. Managed to get them on and have my fastest run of the day. Just need to get over the nerves. Was all over the place on the second run trying to go one better but it was not working. Can't believe how quick those youngsters go and I knew Nigel could ride but did not know he could put in such a good showing. Was lekker to see that I was one of a couple of new guys there on the day. Hope to see everyone at the next meeting and even more new riders. Thanks for all the help and encouragement from the Gravity Life crew and all the other guys there.
  8. I will see you guys Sunday morning. Had some family commitments today. Can't wait to give it another go.
  9. What time do you guys normally start the Saturday practice and what time will the registration be on Sunday?
  10. Gerhard, what about you? You going to show us how to do the road gap on your Trek?
  11. I have already shifted my work commitments from that weekend so that I can come and give my first DH race a go. Very keen! So we will see you there Grebel.
  12. The pics of the day came out great. Thanks Aldine and Nick. Keen to go back to the track some time soon and have some more fun.
  13. That would be me. I came down the hill on the black Specialized in black kit and saw your mate with the broken collar bone. Did not get to speak to you guys. I will make sure I'm at the next race and hope to see you guys there. Glad to hear everyone had fun even though there was some crashes.
  14. Awesome day at Rico's track today. Thanks very much Nigel for everything and Calvin and Travis for the pointers. Very nice to meet up with everyone too. Will have to take that step and come do my first race now.
  15. That sounds like a excellent idea. I'll be very keen to join. I've got a DH bike and have done some DH riding but just need to get in the mix with the DH crowd and some advice would be very welcome. This would be a nice step before going straight into a DH race.
  16. Ah man. Now I see the fine print on the back of the voucher. "This voucher is valid for 2 weeks from the date that you receive your goods." I just stocked up MTB parts and will not be doing a order for a while.
  17. I placed a order on the 1st of Jan this year and waited over a week before my order was processed. I waited a bit thinking that the new year etc would slow things down by a day or so and eventually mailed them. Luckily they had all my stuff in stock nut said that they were having some problems there side. The stuff did get here about 2 weeks after placing the order and with a 10 Pound CRC voucher. Hope all the issues are sorted now though.
  18. Hi there Clint. We normally go ride Wednesday's after work and most weekends there but the last month work has been a bit hectic so we have not been going as often. You should Pm me your details and I'll let you know when we go again.
  19. Just about every morning I see this guy with one leg on a Merida road bike cycling up fields hill with a huge back pack. I have even seen him in the rain and one Sat morning also saw him coming from the Queensburgh side on the M7 heading towards Hillcrest. I wish I had this guys determination. Does anyone know how this guy is?

    Rider down

If you ride up the concrete jeep track from the waterfall route then turn off right halfway up. It was along that section just after the steep downhill and almost 180 deg right turn there is a fast section with a couple of trees to dodge. Been doing a lot of fast paced night rides in Giba lately with no incidents and now this happens on a perfect Sunday morning. Been told to stay off the bike for 6-8 weeks. Not happy about that at all but nothing I can do about that.

    Rider down

This was not even on my downhill bike. Been training hard for the Hill 2 Hill and went for a ride into Giba gorge on Sunday morning. Half a hour into my ride, high speed narrow section I just clipped a tree with my left side of the bars, over compensate to the right and took a old tree out the ground then hit the floor and went down a bank. My boet had to come untangle me from my bike. Came out of hospital yesterday with a plate and 6 screws.
  22. My boss has a 2010 Spicy 516. Such a awesome bike to ride. Told him if he ever wants to sell I'm taking it.
  23. That's sucks! What's the plan now, new bike? At least you did not get hurt hey.
  24. While the fox guys were staying over in a hotel on their way to the Monte Sainte Anne world cup the whole Fox truck and trailer with all the kit for the world cup was stolen. That's crazy. Check out more info on vitalmtb.com
  25. Don't know what the '10 Boxxer Race is like but I'm running a '07 888 RCV and I can't believe how smooth/plush it is. Really happy with the performance of it.
