  1. I did my first race today, well, more of a fun ride. 60km GT-100 out in Meyerton. It was great and I'm pretty happy with my Garmin time of 3h05 over 64k, including a small detour because we missed an arrow and had to go back to the trail. I'm learning how to manage nutrition along the way and found the power of a banana! I had some mild cramps at 40km and that slowed me down quite a lot, but ultimately I had energy until I stopped eating because I thought the end was nearby and ended up an extra 4km over the 60km, but I made it and I'm really happy with progress from starting out cycling 8 months ago to doing a 64km ride in 3h.
  2. There's lots I want to print, I just don't have a working Printer
  3. Such a great ride at Buffelsdrift doing my first 50Km, the longest I have ridden since starting in November last year. I've shown myself that the 4 days a week training with a Biokineticist is really paying off, when uphills are an absolute pleasure, well they were until my legs ran out of battery at the 32Km mark but I will work on Nutrition in the future to overcome this problem and the severe leg cramps for the last section. .
  4. Bought a 36T Oval Chainring and did my first ride today. Shaved a few mins off my time on my favorite trail today with it, I'm very pleased. Thought the whole Oval thing was a gimmick, I do sorta feel a difference.
  5. Nothing wrong with Titan Racing Bikes. I spent R30k of my hard earned cash on a brand new Cypher RS Dash and I couldn't be any happier. Mates with R50k and R70k bikes cannot do anything that I cannot do with my Cypher, we go on the same routes and enjoy the trails all the same. The only things that aren't all that great are the lockout levers, and they're xfusion. The front works well, plastic but locks confidently. The rear is an aluminum one but doesn't stay locked for long... Small price to pay for a brand new bike at that price range. Things that are great about it? Everything else... Despite only having 100mm travel (RS spec) can still do the little jumps and plough over rocks at Big Red Barn, it feels comfortable and planted, comes with a nice seat, has front and rear remote lockouts, a fish wire ready for the inevitable seat dropper which the RS spec doesn't get, my favorite style of matt/satin black paint mixed with gloss black, the tan sidewalls have really grown on me and make the bike stand out quite a bit. This is my first Titan and certainly won't be my last one..
  6. This is from the Titan site, I googled Ceramic Speed bearings and it appears they are cup and cone bearings. I was thinking of putting a nicer grease in them maybe but I don't have any special hub tools to open, nor do I know what I'm doing with Cup/Cone bearings Hub-F SHIMANO MT400-B CL 15 X 110MM Hub-R SHIMANO MT410-B CL 12 X 148MM
  7. Thanks, I agree with the sealed bearings 100% but I know nothing about cup and cone. They don't feel rubbish or anything yet, so will keep an eye on it, it's also very likely the brakes are binding slightly and I will check that
  8. To the best of my knowledge, they are cup and cone bearings. Just from what I googled off using the specs on the Titan site
  9. Thanks, I know the Cypher is Shimano. Not 100% sure of the Momsens setup. Ill take it in to the bike shop this weekend and just check
  10. Will it cause damage?
  11. Spinning it on the bike, I didn't think about checking it with the brakes out the way, they don't feel gritty at all just feel like they are not as smooth as a bearing should feel
  12. The wheels on my new Cypher Dash aren't as smooth as my old Momsen AL229, I've only done 100km or so on the Cypher and the Momsen I'm sure the Momsen has alot more. If I give the wheels a good spin on the Momsen they spin for quite a while and feel super smooth, if I do the same on the Cypher, they go around maybe 3 or 4 times and stop, they're pretty smooth but not as free.
  13. I forgot about the shoes, shorts and other goodies 🤣🤦 I really needed this sport/hobby and glad I found it. Thanks for the Welcome and advice 🥂
  14. Thanks! Did not even think of that 😛
  15. This whole month has been... Expensive. 01/02: New Bike, Titan Cypher Dash. The first thing that I bought after I said I'd never spend that amount of money on a bike. 02/02 to 19/02: Small things to Pimp it out a bit 😎😜 20/02: Again, doing things that I said I'd never do, like spend R4k on a tiiiiiny Bike Computer, and Bought a Garmin 130+ HRM Bundle on special at Cycle Lab. Next up, I'm going to spend more than I said I ever would on a Garmin watch.
  16. Thank you all for the advice, Decided to go with the Garmin 130+ because I like their app and wanted to keep everything in one place as ChrisF mentioned, especially since I'm looking into moving to a Garmin watch next. I bought the Edge 130+ HRM bundle on special for R3999, partly because I wanted the Heartrate Band for my other training and because I had a R100 Birthday Voucher and a Twosday Mystery Voucher from Cycle Lab which turned out to be worth nothing.
  17. I didn't ride as far as I drive today looking for a place to ride. Centurion - Grootfontein Bike Park - Hazeldean - Centurion, just to ride 21km. Was still fun and I'm getting used to my new bike - and loving it.
  18. Thanks, are you using Fox shocks or another brand?
  19. Thanks, I didn't know that, the Fox ones are the first to pop up when searching for dual lockout levers, if I can just find something a little more sturdy than the current ones will already be an improvement.
  20. Thanks, I'm sure if they are within a few mills of travel from the X-fusion ones it will work. Going to get a rough idea from a mates bike who has the fox 2 stage and try it out. The levers are crazy expensive so not keen to just take a chance. Thanks for the advice
  21. I just got a shiny new bike, but it has X-Fusion remote lockout shocks, the front lockout does its job without being too nice or pretty and the rear lockout looks good but unlocks easily... Too easily even... So I'd like to change it to a better lever if possible, without changing the shocks. Can I get a Fox or similar Dual lockout lever - lockout both front and back in one go or does it specifically have to be X-fusion lock out.
  22. Hi all, There is a Rox 11.0 available brand new for R1500 with no sensors and Sportsman's has a Garmin 130+ on its own that I could get for around R2k brand new with the use of a voucher. All I want is accurate after ride map uploads to Strava, something my current Wahoo Mini doesn't do and the ability to upload a trail map so I can do Race to the Sun next year. Both take ANT+ and BT Sensors so the sensor story isn't an issue. Are there any features on either that make one of them stand out more than the other? I'm a weekend warrior when the weather is good but looking to be a bit more serious about riding.
  23. Thanks for all the advice, I don't think the noise is going to work for me, will rather save a bit and get a sued Direct drive
  24. Been waiting for a thread like this... Bought a bike for good money at Cash Converters (1st mistake), thing has constantly broken and given trouble and the store declines to honor their advertised 6 months guarantee. I suspect the Store owner / Manager is actually the previous owner and sold it when it started to give trouble... I bought it from them expecting a bit of peace of mind for at least 6 months, so far has cost me R1100 and a quote for R3000 to replace bad brake levers and I can't even ride it. Currently reported them to every Consumer Rights group and place I could find, including The Devi Show, Wendy Knowler, Carte Blanche, etc and await a response.
  25. Can I get an el cheapo Indoor Trainer and use my bike as is on it? With the standard MTB off road tires. I'm talking about those trainers that have the roller that your wheel makes contact with, I want to show myself I will actually use it before I go all out with the proper Direct drive ones.
