  1. I bought a gen2 Honda CR-V about 3 months ago. 2.4 iV-TEC Executive. Amazingly comfortable car with LOADS of space inside, nice leather seats, climate control, aircone cruise control etc, came with a tow bar as well. Paid R145k with 148k kms on it and it drives amazingly well. It is a bit thirsty on fuel for short trips to work but on the open road you can get it down to around 8L/100 or so. Around town it averages about 10L/100. In hindsight I shouldve gotten something like a Jazz or bakkie but i love the CR-V.
  2. I rode this route for the first time yesterday. Besides the INSANE wind at 5:30 am the route was totally fine. I went up the side of the highway and lifted my bike over the railing and then cycled over the bridge and down to the robots and turned right. The entire route felt safe tbh, I didnt come across anyone dodgy and the ones on the paths moved out the way when they saw me coming. My MTB tyres however... lots of slashes and a few thorns this morning, luckily the sealant did the job but if I rode in every day I think id be using a set of tyres every month. Just the section from the end of marine drive to the bridge has so much glass its insane.
  3. Awesome sounds like a plan! I'll know a little closer to the time of the Enduro if I am going to enter, but ill drop you a message
  4. Awesome thanks for that insight. I come from a motorcycle background (Track days, racing, short circuit etc) so racing and timing always gets me going and chasing those extra tenths of a second. Im very competitive so I know that once I decide to ride i will get consumed with timings and start comparing myself (Strava premium didnt do me any good as I like to check ow fast I went on a specific trail that day compared to my friends πŸ˜…). I think I should just enter and take it from there. It will be new trails to me and my first MTB event so will be quite exciting. The distance and climbing is all easily achievable with my current fitness, BUT, know its a race I feel like im going to gas myself out in the first 3 stages and then crawl for the last 3 🀭 With regards to the XCO kids, they already do a great job of making me look bad every Thursday at Bloemendal, so the weekend Enduro is a good chance to make that a double whammy of humiliation for the week. The shuttle days are also another story. THose kids fly through the air and over those tables like they have no bond to pay and work on Monday🀣
  5. Ok awesome thanks for the responses, gives me more to think about! Much appreciated 😎🀘
  6. I REALLY dont mean to start an arguement here and full disclosure, I have never done an Enduro before but its something im actively looking into this year. This comment comes from a complete outsider. I just watched the W&M video of the upcoming Paarl Enduro. To me it looks like 6 stages of flow trails and not what I think of when someone says "Enduro" event. I was picturing something a bit more technical like rock gardens and some rocky decents etc. Maybe like some Jonkers Trails or The Cobra at Hoogies? Or is this like a warm up event for the events coming in the rest of the year? R450 to ride 6 flow trails doesnt really appeal to me. Thats basically a normal Sunday ride around Tygerberg Trails to be honest? Should I do this event to get an idea of how it all works and go from there and decide if its for me?
  7. Ok awesome, looks like the M520 spindles are the same, besides the gold nut.
  8. Does anyone know where or if its even possible, to get a replacement bearing and sleeve for my Saint pedals? The left side died this morning on my commute to work.
  9. I'm still waiting for my order to arrive... DCB Logistics is now 2 days late on my delivery. It was meant to be delivered on Monday, it's now the end of Wednesday. No matter how many times I phone them and tell them to phone me back with an update or waiting on the driver they never do. I started my order process on the 16th of January... Sorry but literally nothing in this process has made me want to order from them again. Which has been shared with my cycling group so there's more sales they are missing out on. Once Wayne took over my order things went smoothly and I commend him for his service but it seems like he's running things by himself or I am just the anomaly? 2 weeks to recieve a pair of pants and a Jersey? No thanks.. UPDATE My parcel finally arrived. I spoke with the driver and he said that he is actually a truck driver but is standing in for the normal drivers route. He has 80 packages to deliver per day and he's already behind because he doesn't know the route. Dispatch never told me this or said there might be delays. Just kept passing the buck. Anyway I finally have my order..
  10. Awesome! Gives me time to train!
  11. Wayne has placed my order and given me a slight discount, which I have thanked him for. Will update once I have recieved my order.
  12. I just got a reply from Charl and Wayne. Charl says what I want is out of stock and needs to be ordered from the suppier. Wayne says the stuff I want is in stock but only in black for the pants, shirts are in stock in various colours. Okay then... Only reason I need to continue dealing with them is that I was giving R2000 in Bike addict vouchers as a birthday gift. I asked for a refund of the vouchers but they said they are non-redeemable for cash.
  13. Good luck, lets hope so... I'm still waiting on a reply from Wayne, will see what today holds.
  14. I phoned and spoke with Wayne now, hopefully he will sort out my order... I also let him know that Charl is taking an unacceptable amount of time to reply to emails.
  15. This is frutrating to hear.... I've emailed info@bikeaddict and sales@bikeaddict and havent recieved a reply yet...
  16. Trying to order through this shop is such a F'n pain in the arse! Send through my quote, no reply for 2 days. Get a reply from Charl, sorry nothing is in stock. I reply IMMEDIATELY with a question, then no reply. Another day passes. I phone and follow up on my order. I speak to Charl again. He says he will go and check stock in the shop and reply to my email. He replies 10minutes later saying nothing is in stock and the only options of my order are not in the colours I want or the same price... I reply IMMEDIATELY to his email with mroe questions. NOTHING! I will not bother buying through these people ever again. Why do they make it so hard to take my money?? The running joke in my friend group is this "It's illegal to make money in Cape Town" Which seems to be the case... Working on a quote system is an absolute joke. I dont want to have a conversation through email about what you do and dont have in stock! Even if they are cheaper, ill pay more not to deal with this stupid system.
  17. That looks pretty sick with the chunky tyres!
  18. Im still running my 2010 Commencal Meta 55 Team, 26er, dual sus. ive done quite a few upgrades to it over time and tbh its quite a lot of fun now. 750mm bars, 180mm discs front and rear, LTWOO 1x12 (11-51) with a 32T chainring. Dropper post, Saint flat pedals, Schwlabe Knobby Nic 2.4"s, Fox CTD shock. Forks are still the original Fox 32RL 150mm but full serviced. My only issue is that I am quite tall, even with the large frame the bike feels lightly too small for me Other than that its been pretty awesome and really fun to learn on. 26er aint dead but you can really make them into something quite capable until you are ready for a 29er, which is what my plan is. Nice thing about the 26er market is that parts are usually pretty cheap second hand and there is a lot of it around! As for Tyres, if you want something decent youll have to import. Most shops seem to only stock XC style tyres these days...
  19. I must say its a great trail, very easy climbs with fun descents. Will definiteky be going back there. It is quite exposed to the sun so I guess getting there very early is ideal. Was baking hot yesterday.
  20. Haha! Was actually such a dumb crash. Was my first time going down Klipverf so I was just joing around the jumps getting to know the trail before heading back from a "proper" run at it. Came up to a small jump and decided to go around it. My front tyre went slightly off the trail which resulted in an instantaneous low side as the bars buckled inwards. Launched me forward down the trail. Landed on my plams and stomach. Chin bar of my helmet hit the ground with full force.... Never been so thankful for my decision to buy a full face helmet! Saved my jaw big time! Leatt gloves also held up super well as I went sliding down the trail... Got away with some brusing on my eft palm, some small roasties on my arms and a bit of a stiff shoulder. Finished off with the Cobra and Afterburner.
  21. I can try make the Sunday, will see if I am alve after the Plasir Shuttle Day. I also managed to face plant at Banhoek yesterday so hopefully my body is healed by the weekend πŸ˜…
  22. I see there is now a big shuttle day hosted by Hell Send on the 3rd at Plaisir.... I've never been there before so debating the shuttle day and then just going blind into the enduro on the 10th πŸ‘€
  23. Same here, first enduro an only second ever event... 🀭 Ill be on my accoustic 26er πŸ‘΄
  24. That sounds awesome! I'll be keen for that. Would like to do the full 😁
  25. Ok awesome, watched W&M video now and looks pretty doable tbh. I will enter after pay day and try get a practice run in on the 3rd or 4th. Not so keen on going in blind πŸ˜…
