  1. oh nooo, I do not want to look dumb!
  2. Jip, you'll need helmet with a peak and a hydration pack. I was in Due South the other day and they had some really nice hydration packs. you more than likely will get it cheaper somewhere else though.
  3. Colour - check Front shocks - white Reba Rear - shock Fox Wheels - Fulcrum 3 Groupset - XT with Shadow? rear derailleur Pedals and saddle it personal so I won't bother with those. will check one of the other threads to know what saddle to get. has to be lady specific, otherwise I will not be able to tour the Kruger. I have just one last problem. if I get a MTB I will have to get new clothes, new shoes and new gloves as well. and will my road helmet work with the MTB or will I have to get a new one?
  4. looks like MacGyver I just loooove MacGyver! And the things he can do with that Swiss Army Knife....

  11. my budget did not allow me to go for the more expensive saddles so I settled for the RavX Venus. must say for me it was a huge improvement and I can now do a comfortable 3 hours +.

  13. After not cycling for a while, (well not doing much of anything for awhile) I started again about 2,5 months ago and struggled to do 40km at avg 22km/h. I started spinning twice a week and do 40km training ride on Saturdays, for about 3 weeks. Increased spinning to 3 times a week and +/- 60km on Saturdays. I am currently able to do a good hilly 80km and the avg has picked up as well. Currently spinning four times a week and looking to add a training ride on Sundays as well. (ja, vir my is dit maar 'n geval van "stadig maar seker") I ride with a rather heavy no name brand bike, but the progress is definitely there and that is good enough for me. (Unfortunatly the weight loss thing is not happening fast enough yet) I'm looking to do a 100km end of October. I can also add that encouragement from the guys I ride with on Saturdays has helped a lot!! So, Ollie if you can, try and join a club. Something that really helped me a lot, getting into the this cycling thing and I am here to stay.
  14. Lived in Malmesbury a few years back. Had the pleasure of sitting on that Klipheuwel road one Saterday afternoon. My '82 Renault 5 decided it was the perfect place for a breakdown. My dad had to come all the way from Moorreesburg to come and save me. Liefie had to be towed back to Malmesbury. Thinking about it now, it is sad that I wasnt into cycling back then. If I remember correctly, that is a nice road for cycling, especially after they finished the roadworks.
  15. A friend of mine got smash-and-grabbed in that area earlier this year. We went back there a day later to try and find her handbag. Did not find hers ,but is was amazing how many other credit cards and ID books we found. Amongst other things we found a deposit slip with a number on. Phoned it, and the lady on the other side was in tears. She waited more than a year for her ID book, and was not looking forward to go through the same agony again. Found out later that there is a gang opertating in that area almost every single day. Police, however, just refuse to do anything about it. Some detective just told my friend to write a letter , seeing that there is not much he can do about it. Wolvirne - glad youre ok.
  16. Wolverine, Sounds like fun. Would love to join you guys one of these days. Z
