  1. Sold a bike to them a fews years ago. Easy, hassle free experience. They gave me a fair assessment and paid me accordingly.
  2. Entered. My first one.
  3. Look up the 5F Cycling Club. They have a Facebook page. Nice bunch of people and the focus is on the social aspect of cycling. Usually start their Sunday morning ride at Fish Hoek beach.
  4. The 5F Cycling Club are a really great bunch of people who are very welcoming of beginners and new members. Based in the South, their members are from Constantia, Tokai, Noordhoek, Fish Hoek and surrounds. Most rides either start in Tokai or Fish Hoek. You will find them on Facebook I think.
  5. Heard about this and the, apparently, nefarious agendas in play. Hope they win the fight. Giba Gorge is an awesome place and is where I learned to ride a MTB and discovered the joys of enduro/trail riding. Would be a major blow to the MTB community of Durban and surrounds.
  6. Following. I recently sold my road bike and bought a gravel bike. The weight difference combined with the heavier and wider gravel tires equate to about 1.5 to 2 kms/hr difference in speed on the road. GB is noticeably slower. Am also considering a second wheelset for road.
  7. Speed. A trail bike (Stumpy) can handle a lot in terms of steepness and rocky descending. If you going to be hitting rock gardens and g outs at EWS (pros) speeds I would get an Enduro bike. But if you not getting close to the speeds of top riders, I think you'll get more joy out of a Trail bike in the 140 to 160mm travel category. Giant Trance X, Santa Cruz Hightower, Spez Srumpy etc.
  8. I've heard a lot about how unfriendly and stuck in their cliques Cape Tonians are. Can't comment on the veracity of this, as we've met some amazing people in CT. Maybe because we in a small village. One thing I can confirm is nobody complains like Cape Tonians. My fo#k, Marelize, they don't stop!!
  9. I guess coming from KZN I have experienced the worst and thus find CT drivers to be not so bad. 🤷
  10. I must admit to being tempted sometimes...but no.
  11. I also moved to Cape Town, from Durban, in 2021. And my experience has been the complete opposite. I live in the Deep South and commute into town for work a few times a week. I find CT drivers courteous, patient and generally well behaved. My biggest issue is people that drive too slow, especially on Ou Kaap Se Weg. But, overall CT drivers seem more civilized than the rest of the country.
  12. I used to ride with Ross and his Dad at Giba Gorge in KZN. Talented rider. Stoked he's getting on the podiums in Europe. Sidenote: I was way faster than him. He was only 9 or 10 years old at the time.
  13. Pidcock's performance is insane. To come back from that puncture. Spectacular effort from AH!! What a race.
  14. An Enduro race where you need a Gravel Bike? You don't see that every day. I'm in 🤣
  15. I had Trek Domane 4.5 Disc (2016 model) that I really enjoyed. Excellent bike that could accomodate 32mm tyres and was very comformtable on our rough roads. If you can find one of these in good condition, you will be very happy. I saw one on sale here for about 23K. Here's the ad: https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/road-bikes/613348/trek-domane-45-54cm-carbon-11spd-disc Don't bother with rim brakes. I think you'll regret it.
