  2. Hey all. I need MTB frames, cranks and forks please. If you can help, please get in touch. Simply reply here, send me a PM or email me at nick (at) buildabikesa .com
  3. Haha, stay off the brakes - they'll just slow you down!
  4. I run the new Deores and couldn't be happier.
  5. I wish I had your problem. Hope hubs, bb, headset and brakes. ZTR rims. Race face cranks and matching bar and stem. RS SID fork with those sexy black stanchions. Absolute black chain ring and cog. Thank me later. PS I doubt I stuck to your budget.
  6. I agree JC. That new section near Oom Piets just plain sucked. Why include a hike-a-bike section like that? Much rather do normal Piet and Greek church. I'd like to appeal to trail builders to think more carefully about sections like that. Sure, the top 10 guys might be able to ride it (although I doubt anyone ride the whole thing) but the rest of us would rather ride than walk. VG in particular has plenty of awesome trails and climbs that are tough and challenging but rideable. I'm not complaining for the sake of it, and anyone who knows me will vouch for the fact that I like the tough and challenging rides. I was having a storming ride until the top of the new Bliksem Piet section. Then the sense of humour failed. Kudos for the other 90% of the route. I had a score to settle with the satellite descent, having taken a tumble last year and I was stoked to ride the whole way down.....only to crash 200m before the bridge when my pedal connected a rock and put me on my arse. I'm satisfied with my top 50% finish and will be back again as always. Well done to all the finishers especially the guys and girls who nudged 7 hours plus. Never thought I'd say this, but Magalies Monster was easier.
  7. Flows on Hope Pro II Evo's
  8. Thanks for getting in touch Wimpie!
  9. Please pop it in the post. I'll send you a PM
  10. Do that so I can beat you for a change.
  11. https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/92855-feeler-shimano-600-tricolor-groupset/ I have some Tri-color stuff I'm looking to sell if anyone's keen.
  12. Thanks guys. I'm really humbled by the generosity of everyone who has donated parts to me. Almost 40 bikes have been given to really deserving people since we started.
  13. Wow. D batch. Impressive. I was expecting F
  14. On the topic of descending. Keep your feet clipped in, keep your arms straight and your weight back and don't lock your back wheel. This way you'll have control and will be able to ride the downhills. Look ahead and plan your line a fee meters in advance. Look where you want to go. This caught me out last year when I got my line wrong and at very slow pace a rock jumped out in front of me and I had too much weight too far forward. Super slowmo over the bars excursion.
  15. Jislaaik I'm looking forward to this race. No "Jou Bliksem" for the 75km route. What a pleasure.
  16. We're finally an official NPO, registration number 137-346 NPO
  17. Thanks Proudmom. I sent you a PM
  18. And here is Daniel, a gardener from Alexandra with his "new" bike. He's stoked and his life just got a bit better.
  19. Yesterday I built this bike which will be donated this week. I've had the frame and fork for a long time and finally got the rest of the parts needed to bring this beast back to life. I built the rear wheel myself and did all the assembly yesterday outside my garden shed while trying to make sure my 2 young boys didn't play with the sharp and dangerous tools!
  20. I have Flows on Hopes on my steel 29er SS. I have just around 8000km on the wheels and haven't had to touch them with a spoke wrench. I am an aggressive rider and ride these wheels very hard. I run low pressures and often tap a rim on rocks with NO damage whatsoever. They are weighty, but nothing on my bike is light.
  21. Thanks for the reply. Basically you cover your own entry and I add you to our team. If you raise R700 or more, you get a free custom cycling jersey.
  22. Yes for sure, as long as someone can assist with getting the bike there. At the moment I have a long waiting list, so probably get bikes to new nominees in 3-4 months.
