  1. Front = Left Back = Right I don't want my strongest hand grabbing a brake that could send me over the bars.
  2. If you want to attend and make use of the free accomodation, please PM me, I have contacts with the organisers. First come, first served.
  3. UPDATE: The organisers have just told me that they are offering free accomodation on the Friday night for out of town guys that want to make a weekend out of it. And no, not in tents, the local farmers are the folks living in town are opening their homes to the cyclists. And get this... on Friday night they're throwing a FREE braai for all the cyclists, chops, meat, free. Picture this, a whole bunch of MTBers chilling around a campfire in a small "plattelandse" dorpie, having a lekker kuier. Seriously guys, if you are anywhere in the Eastern Cape, come through on Friday after work and have a jol, and go to bed on a farm, well fed! Remember to bring some cash though, on the day of the race the farmers will be selling meat, etc at the show grounds - at ridiculous prices. So leave enough space in the boot! If you are in the Eastern Cape on Saturday 8th September and you own a MTB, come do this ride! Saturday, 8 September 2012. Jansenville Show Grounds, 6265 Jansenville, Eastern Cape Registration: 6:30am - 8:45am Race Start: 9:00am ENTRY FEE: R100 (No pre-entries, no late entry fee bull) Lucky draws include healthy packs of sosaties and other treats I believe that the winner of the race will walk away with a sheep, no Bruce, not alive and sexy. "Worked and packaged". There will be two distances, roughly 60km and a short race of around 15km. The local farmers are trying to get their event off the ground and are throwing prizes at this. And these farmers don't mess around, if you win the race you go back home with an entire sheep's worth of meat. There are road races that don't even give prizes like that! That's how these guys roll ! The local community are really going out of their way to raise interest for this event, even offering free accomodation and food for the Friday night before the race to the first guys that confirm that they'll attend. The event falls on the same day as their yearly event at the show-grounds, so there will be stacks of food and drinks available. And trust me, your haven't had a boerie roll untill you've had a Jansenville boerie roll! More info here: http://www.facebook....iverMTBMarathon and here: http://www.facebook....21252011331615/ Route profile: Please guys, make an effort and join!
  4. Actionphoto have put some pics up. http://www.actionphoto.net/raceimages/Trans_Baviaans_2012-/Large/Trans_Baviaans_2012-4125828/DSC_1694.JPG
  5. Unofficial results are out.
  6. Didn't read the race booklet. Consider myself a Trans vet, we mos know where the finish is. Right. Paid the price for that one.
  7. Same. At the video preview / rider briefing I asked Wikus where the finish was in respect to the finish last year. He said it was 4-5km "further down into Jbay". So that's what we did. We klapped it into JBay........... straight through town to where the road ended. Had to turn right, and right again and see a few teams in the dark pull into the school ahead of us. Probably lost about 5 places.
  8. Might have seen you sitting outside the guest house we were staying at. Wife invited you in for coffee, if that was you.
  9. Low light: Finding out that the reason for my smashed legs at the top of Bergplaas was due to a miss aligned back wheel causing the rotors to rub on the brake pads. Nothing quite like riding 148km with the handbrake up... High light: Fixing it.
  10. Should have quit with the Olympic race. Now he'll roll in in 9th place. Rather should have gone out on top. IMHO.

  12. As jy dom is moet jy bloei. Wie de hel koop sulke equipment van 'n SOMALIER en probeer dit dan weer verkoop? Flip, you MUST have known something was fishy.
  13. Been saying that for a long time. Would be nice to get rid of the lot selling herbal p3n1s enlargement creams, etc. But maybe just 20 posts, not 200. That takes quite some time for the average non-addicted Hubber.
  14. Or R40, if you are one of the faster teams and finish before midnight.
  15. We'll walk through and just do the climb. If you really HAVE to, you can change socks at the checkpoint at the top of never ender. I rather want to finish faster than have dry feet. I won't be bombing through water crossings though, that's stupid. Screws up your bike. Rather coast through and close the 5 seconds you lost back up to the group you were with. I won't have a change of socks every time my footsies get wet.

  17. How would people follow you? Website set up, etc? What is the cost to buy and rent?
  18. ...and that weighs how much?
  19. They must be able to do something to be able to cut and join the belt...? Flexible kevlar "plasters" ? Hmmm
  20. ...needs a split frame. Well that kills just about 98% of the target market.
  21. I have to have one!
  22. This will be my 6th Trans. I missed a few in the middle. My 1st one was an epic fail, we all need to have one to figure out what to do. And don't just search for the word "tip", allot has been said that did not include that word.
