  1. I'm sure that in capable hands, that Giant would get DH times not far of the "modern" bikes. R2500 is a bargain for that bike. Give it a service and it'll rock again.
  2. Nee, seker nie. Maar "anything is better than nothing" tel beslis, so doen maar wat jy kan!
  3. Bergplaas isn't bad. By the time you realize you're climbing, you're already halfway up. And the top slopes can be done in bigring anyway. Hayley, no I wasn't there last night. But I'll try make a plan from next week onwards. I'm racing the Time Trials there on Tuesday nights though. My rest days are Fridays, so doing that on a Thursday night will be ideal before the rest day. A tip... get a buff to cover your mouth and nose. I ride with mine all the time. If you see a ninja on the bike, its me. It helps hugely to keep cold air out of the lungs and off your neck. And with that, I'm sure it helps avoid getting colds because you're not bombarding your lungs with icy air. Its pointless having all kinds of leg warmers, arm warmers, jackets, toe warmers etc etc etc, if your face is melting off and going numb from the cold. I've got a Merrell one, they sell them at NH for R100.
  4. Jy kort meer lang stadige rides as vinnige rides né...
  5. Sub 10 if everything goes perfect. The last few years I've slowely lost the plot with nutrition, started with proper foods years back and ended up last year with nothing but chocs and sweets. Which ends up in a purge. My team mate is fresh off Ironman, so I'm depending on him to lay down some rules for nutrition. Training wise we're doing what we can, having to keep full time jobs down. Tomorrow will be about 132km, Sunday taking Mrs Azonic for a spin on the tandem, and in the afternoon some MTBing.
  6. I'm doing about 400-450km a week at the moment... About a month before the time I'll change the road bike for the MTB. Road bike miles at the moment, with a night time offroad TT per week to keep the tech sharp in the dark. Will also add a longer social MTB on Thursday nights. Will then be 50km in the morning before work on the road bike, plus another 70km in the evening on the MTB.
  7. Nope. And you can't enter either. Entries are closed.
  8. Ecobound posted on Facebook yesterday that entries are closed. If you still need to find a partner, you are way behind the schedule.
  9. How many entries do you have?
  10. I haven't ordered Argus photos for 2 years now. The prices are just crazy. Someone says its like R50 for a digital copy... R50 for someone just to point and shoot? Oh hell no.
  11. There is a very, very big oke I know that rides a Trek 5200 OCLV carbon. I have officially dubbed it the Strongest bike in SA. Oke weighs at least 140kg.
  12. Bennie, ek het. Eks in. Het 'n baie sterk teammate. Sub 10 as training reg gaan ek alles op die dag.
  13. Yep. Did a very hilly 132km road ride today, down Gamtoos and around to Loerie. It was m0er cold. And I only had short finger gloves...
  14. There is a guy that repainted my one frame a while back... used to be on The Hub, TokenFreak... He "built up" a full on break boss out of a certain type of something, can't recall the name now. Like a metal "Pratley Putty" I'm sure you can use the same stuff to build that piece up again and take some white paint to it.
  15. Up in the Linton Grange area. Very nice shop. I wouldn't say they have everything on that list in the store all the time, but most ja.
  16. Yup. He started his "bike shop" carreer at 360 Cycles.
  17. Yes, their second shop was there. First attempt was at the Lorraine cafe at the back of Lorraine. But ja, as far as I know 360 = Como.
  18. I don't go past where 2nd Breath was often, so wasn't aware of that. 360 Cycles and Comobike, as far as I know, was the same guy. I've never seen that guy on a bicycle once in my life......... then they try break into the bike shop market. Really? Took my bike there once for a new BB. He put one in with a moerse long axle. So much so its impossible to shift onto the big ring. I complain, tells me I don't know how to set gears. Ya, only been riding bikes for close to 20 years, I don't know how to set gears. Take bike back. Collect the next day, a MUCH shorter BB put in.... and he tells me they just set the gears, so he was right and I was wrong. What a champ.
  19. Dunno. Shops are pretty well spaced at the moment, kind of.
  20. 1. Couldn't care less to be honest. I haven't set foot in that shop for around 6 years, and don't plan to either. I have my reasons. 2. Doesn't matter what signage they hang on the outside. If the same person operates the shop, its the old shop, old attitudes, etc. Call it Super Duper Mega Cycles, with the same oke operating it, nothing changed. 3. Heard JLA was opening shop. Hope them well, but as you say, PE is small... So in PE, we have: Wayne Pheiffer Cycles Cyclo Pro Action Cycles CycleLab Coimbra Augustyn Cycles 2nd Breath Cycles A mate of mine's dad also just opened up a bike service business. He's been doing bikes for longer than most of us have been alive, so I'll trust him with my stuff. And I'm full of k@k when it comes to my stuff. Not to mention places like Sportsmans Warehouse and other retail shops that probably sell more bikes than all the bike shops combined. That's allot of shops for PE...
  21. He does work there. But that doesn't detract from what he said. When it comes to MTB's, Rob is the best. No-one in SA biuilds better wheels. I've got wheels that over 10 years old, wheels that have been raced hard, not a buckle. His guys are wizards with hydraulic brakes as well.
  22. Um, as far as I know, he does indeed work there.
  23. At my wife's work they put up a devider around someone's desk and filled it to the top with polystyrene balls. Huge mess to clean up. And its also pretty fun to plug a wireless mouse receiver into someone's PC at the back... and keep the mouse at your desk. Every now and then just move it a little. A guy I knew almost threw a continental.
