We stuggled last year with the advertising as we had to start this thing from scratch and didn't have a decent database to work from or the money for advertising. Now that the first season is behind us and we have the details of those riders plus the almost 1000 riders that registered on the wcmtb website it is easier to get the word out. We're also bringing in funrides to try and cover the cost, but it is truely an expensive series to run as you cannot make profit out of 120 riders and sponsors are hard to find. We're definately working on making it more technical and adding chicken runs for the less experienced riders. The overall complaint is that these events aren't technical enough, and I do agree! We're always looking for people to come aboard and help us!

I get the idea that there is a lot of myths around lapracing (xco) or is it just fear of the unknown? I would like to hear your ideas and fears or dislikes regarding lapracing. We're busy with the XCO series in the Western Cape and we have 8 ladies in total participating. What is up with that?????

Event Name: Lighthouse To Lighthouse When: 19 February 2011 - 20 February 2011 Where: Gansbaai Lighthouse, Western Cape Category: MTB LIGHTHOUSE TO LIGHTHOUSE EXTREME NTB ONLY FOR THE FIT AND EXPERIENCED RIDERS The ideal time to prepare for the bigger races later on Date 19 & 20 February 2011 Ride takes you from Dangerpoint Lighthouse near Gansbaai to Aghullas Lighthouse a distance of 90 odd km on the first day and back the following day a distance of just over a 100 km, a scenic route on gravel roads tweespoor tracks between fynbos till you reach the coastline at Brandfontein where the last stretch takes you on to the beach The second day back is partly the same but a deviation through the historical town of Elim All riders can overnight at the caravan park for free at Aghullas where they can partake in supper consisting of potjiekos, pasta ect, meal tickets can be bought for all meals, Friday night during enty time a braai is held for all who wants to partake, a real nice time to make friends and talk over a beer All info is available on Entrytime or enteronline. Where is the gps option or is that the pleasure option

On monday evening there is a meeting for Western Province Cycling (track, road, bmx and mtb). First point on the agenda: Resolution to formally associate to PPA So if you still wanted to object to this, make sure that you attend this meeting! When PPA has taken over the WP for good, you will just have to join and get it over with! Sounds almost like communism to me What really gets to me: cyclists complain all the time but ask them to vote or take a stand and 98% say: "I only want to ride my bike" unfortunately politics is part of cycling and if we don't take a stand we will never change anything!

Who did the Renosterbos MTb Challenge last Saturday in Barrydale? AWESOME event!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Real mountain biking, techinical uphills and great downhills, the scenery was just spectacular.
