  1. Unfortunately seems another CSA failure of say one thing and do another. we here so much about the need to develop riders and the sport but when it doesn't suite them they will not allow riders to advance. Is this because they have not received the required kickback to allow it to happen? Or maybe their favorite favorites can't attend so they will just exclude anyone else from having a chance. Surely if this is a no cost item to CSA they can allow our top juniors to go for the experience if they wish it?
  2. Appears the wife doesnt want to share her bike for judging. So I will Overall side view, some of the pink detail may not be obvious http://i774.photobucket.com/albums/yy29/cyberaver/cycling%20stuff/Pink_Machine_3.jpg A closer view of some of the pink http://i774.photobucket.com/albums/yy29/cyberaver/cycling%20stuff/pink_machine_2.jpg The Brooks detail http://i774.photobucket.com/albums/yy29/cyberaver/cycling%20stuff/pink_machine_1.jpg
  3. I'm in BM @ 7:49, so starting from 7:45 I assume. Not sure how many groups there are
  4. Isnt the result of the inquiry out today? I'm figuring they won't fInd him guilty. Too much tied up in it for the sport I think.
  5. I didnt even get a book, when the wife picked up the number from Cyclelab, no one got anything just their number. damn that peeves me off even more.
  6. Thanks muchly, doing the short one, so out in time for brunch it seems
  7. does anyone have a profile of the race?
  8. Afraid to post my weight here but lets say they don't make wheels for my weight as standard. I ride spinergy and haven't had an issue. Spin fast and have been true to date. Also cartridge bearings so simple to maintain the bearings part
  9. Dear fellow Hubbers I received this disheartening response today, officially killing off any use or my Virgin Active membership This was from the supposed speak with the MD mail address, where he never seems to respond to anything ------------------------------ Hi Dean, We did have a few members that were unhappy with the new bikes, but have found that quite a few of these members are now happy with the new bikes, it just took some getting used to. Virgin Active Sandton did get new bikes because they are in very close proximity to Morningside Virgin Active and we have a lot of Premier members that alternate between these two clubs. We did not want their experience to differ within two clubs that is so close together. We will not be changing the bikes in any of our other clubs as we truly feel these are good quality bikes. Kind regards, Chanelle -------------------------------- So two things, 1) If you have money and a decision may hurt that potential group of people with Money, they will reverse the decision and right the wrong 2) If you dont have money - screw you hick! that means the rest of us
  10. I did send the link to this thread to the women from VA I was chatting to re these bikes, hopefully they are tracking this topic and ARE actually doing something about it and not just fobbing us off on nice emails about how we are personally dealing with it and then Just hoping we will succumb and give in and shut up. Dean
  11. Haven't heard anything from VA at all, I think I will mail them and see what they say on where they are. Currently finishing up my changes at home to train on an IDT. they have to get rid of these hunks of junk and get something proper back in the gyms
  12. Thanks Just wanted to know so I can watch my email. I'll keep an eye out over the next couple of days
  13. Can you tell us when you're sending out the mails so I can go scour through my junk mail folder as my mail will probably throw it away on my behalf
  14. that's like stabbing yourself in the heart to try cure yourself of heartburn. Its not going to help, its gonna be painful and certainly isnt going to put you in a better position because you then have an android device to contend with.
  15. okay just in case you need some assistance. the download location for the ipsw file you will need is official apple ipsw download (assumption - ipad 2 3g model) let me know if its not as you'll need a different file then Its fairly big, use Firefox or a download manager to make sure you don't waste bandwidth having to download multiple times due to failures once you have the file downloaded open iTunes connect your ipad back up your ipad. now hold shift key (windows) and click on restore. browse to the ipsw file and let it do its thing. this will ensure you get a full install and after you can setup your device using your backup
  16. Responding from my iPad using stock standard safari. Suggest you maybe do a software upgrade to 5 again and see if it helps. If you search for the iPad iOS 5 or now 5.01 Ipsw file and download it from apple, you can do a restore and see if that
  17. For those of us who ordered the images for the race with our entry. Are we getting prints in the post or are we getting an email with a voucher? Not sure how the process works
  18. Roodepoort just got these as well. I haven been back to spinning since... Looks like I also have to change gyms after the 94.7 to continue training. They say they are looking at it internally but until I get a mail saying those I,es are gone, I won't train there
  19. Normally takes a couple of days for all the photos to be uploaded and then a couple. More for all the indexing to happen, try closer to the weekend
  20. Oh but I was, I am one of the great unwashed that did a 6:34. But I was there and it was my first full race and last year when I started riding I couldn't ride around my block. So I think my 6:34 was a great time. Of course I shouldn't have even wasted the race organizers time and stayed home according to you. I am glad that you were happy with the event and I will always remember the event for what it was, my first 100km+ race and I got my medal. I do believe though that feedback will allow the organizer and perhaps other organizers improve the event and other events for the future. I would be happy to a couple of years from now come into the finish to see a tent being set up for the people at the back of the field rather than taken down as they arrive. To see the bananas handed out to those in need who need more than a banana and energy bar and two bottles of water to finish the race. I'd rather ride with the people like those who ride the 94.7 twice just to help people like me on the second round make it through, rather than sit on the side of the road and snicker bout them fati slow people blocking up your racing lines.
  21. And there it is. Elitism raises its streamlined, carbon head. I am sorry I am not elite enough to ride your events, support your sport. Hell maybe I don't even qualify to post on your hub board because I happen to not not ride in groups, weigh less than 80kgs, insist on having hairless legs and tight spandex as a wardrobe and can't do the 100km's sub 3. Some of us ride to get healthy and we have goals like anyone else. Finishing the shova for me may well be as big an achievement as you riding the TDF. So why don't I get to ride it, even if I take 6 hours and why doesn't my input count because I'm not a racing snake? If you got what you wanted from the shova then great state that and move on, let everyone else enjoy their right to an opinion as well.
  22. agreed, in fact my race suffered as i had planned on consuming the food on route and only took a couple of gels and a bar for in between or emergencies. (lesson learned) At the stop manned by the school kids, the children manning the station were drinking the isontonic drinks and eating the sandwiches. I don't begrudge them the food but it was their for the riders that day + when i got to the finish at 6:30 odd hours of riding and misery, cramping up for the last 10km's, the voltarin tent seemed like the closest thing to heaven, only to be told they were closing at 2. Apparently they were their to massage the well toned tushies of you a - cl / pro riders after your 3 hour ride and screw the first timers who needed them at the end. big let down. I'll not buy their stuff on principle now, take that voltarin elitists. Can skip the goodie bag as well, the folks were helpful and organized a swap for my brother to ride in my wife's spot without any hassle the flag bearers were a little distracted through out the ride but kept the traffic out and marshaling was good from what I saw of it I lost 45 minutes right out of Pietermaritzburg waiting for a repair on a sliced tire. The wait was a bit long but the cut was just bad luck. will i be back? pain, horrible train tour and nightmares of botha's hill prevent any such decision right now
  23. Allow me to post from an a person who was on the train in question. 1) the train was advertised as the amashova train, not the small group of people on a public train going to the amashova. my mistake I suppose but the initial comms was about a train and this was never corrected by the tour company. they also did not confirm numbers until we had all paid and then let us know we were only 40 odd. <- bit late now that we have paid. 2) At no point did they say guys, you booked smaller compartments and we will have to split you from the group, can we try consolidate to take up two coaches together? nope nothing. 3) we arrived in JHB at the train station, its not well sign posted and no one was there to meet us, no signs no nothing. The train staff knew nothing of the arrangements and there was general disarray. we huddled together with other people with bikes and families with their kids waiting for some direction. 4) the guide arrived just after i phoned him to ask where and what we were to do. He did sort out the arrangements for the bikes. Which was take them down to the platform and load them into the guard carriage, we were also given our allocations for the ride. up until now, no mention that we are not together. 5) The train itself was grotty and not clean in any sense. we waited in our room and then when the train filled up we thought something was amiss. on texting the guide, i was then informed that no, we were not all together and we are infact split from the rest of the group with one couple next door because we booked coupes and their are only two per carriage. this is when they tell us..... we are on the train and now they inform us. 6) dinner was served later and was a chicken, chips and salad, the chips were raw. Anybody standing up to eat the chicken at this point a day before the race? didnt think so. 7) Bedding was provided around 10 and we all tried to get some rest, having left an hour late we hoped to catch up over night. 8) on waking, someone mentioned we were 4 hours behind. not from the tour company, form another passenger. mid morning, with nothing being communicated we finally saw the guide who told us we were 4 1/2 hours behind and they were trying to bring in a 1/2 hour. oh and by the way if you are hungry go to the food carriage cause they are turning the breakfast at the hotel into lunch. so youre on your own. the delay turned into 6 hours arriving at 1:00 instead of 7:30. 9) after fetching the gear and taking a ride to the hotel, we were told to put the bikes round back and go eat. This seemed to be the extended breakfast buffet held open for us, so 6 hours after the supposed time of arrival. Again, I wasn’t taking a chance and had toast and juice. 10) we then waited to check in after 2, the room was clean and neat (thanks Balmoral!), we then went to go check our bikes in. we were told during lunch that the buses left from behind the balmoral. More on this in the pic. Turns out its from behind the Elangeni, a km up the road odd. Oh and you have to lug your shoes, hydration, food, all your gear etc for the ride over that km odd at 4am in Durban on your own…. Lucki we checked or we would have missed the bus and our ride…. ********See attached map JB tours (its rough but disproves your 300m claim I think)******* 11) it was during this time we organized with some Hubbers and a hardnosed wife in JHB the boxes and flights and transport to not have to take the train back - BIG Thanks to Ricochet Rabbit who didn’t know us from dirt, still organized boxes and delivered them to us in Durbs, 30km’s from his house. 12) The hotel did mess our breakfast up which we ordered specifically so we could eat before we left but at this point it was minor. Rode the Shova – Finished – got me a medal 13) the train back left at 7:30 pm, we left the guys at the hotel trying to load the bikes onto a bus to avoid having to ride 4 kms odd in the dark and rain back to the station. Not sure of the outcome 14) as reported by my wife, they got back last night at 7:30pm – a full 24 hours after leaving Durban and I am sure JB did nothing to compensate them on board the train. So overall, no comms or discussion on the numbers or the organization, more interested in getting our money. No compensation for rapidly changing timelines for transport. General miscommunication around arrangements for the Shova. Trains are to be avoided as transport in SA
  24. Looks the same except you have bianchi blue and mine is some dark blue variant. Tracing a bianchi is hard work. Been trying to find catalogues to see if I can spot it, now that I have seen yours I am going to have to go back and look closer and see if I can spot those color bands on a frame somewhere
