  1. It was good fun! Would have liked a smaller sprocket on the back for more top end and as Stretch mentioned some suspension would have been lekker for the bumpy stuff.... But overall enjoyed it thoroughly! Thanks to all involved. [emoji106] Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  2. Thanks Gents, SS it is then! Looking forward to it, see you out there on the trail! Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  3. Hi Face Plant, Any idea on what the total ascent will be on the 70? I did it on my SS a few years ago when it started near the Lido and loved it, just want to make sure I am not making a school boy error riding it in the SS again with the route change? (NB - I checked the map but couldn't see any profile/ ascent figures) Thanks
  4. My trusty SS in the surroundings it enjoys.....
  5. Solomons in Woodmead also has them in stock.
  6. Kulhavy's 2014 weapon of choice.....Clearly he doesn't like sitting much!
  7. At what point does multiple plugs in a tyre start affecting the performance of a tyre or is it just the eye sore of seeing the bulging brown goo that should make you put on a new one?
  8. Hi Guys, Does anyone have a 70km gps file for a MTB ride in Clarens. Obviously the MTN series marathon route would be great, however I would think that would go through private farms which would make it not accessible for this coming weekend. Alternatively if there is anyone doing a 70km this weekend there that knows their way around, I would like to join you if possible? Thanks
  9. Thanks again for all the input!
  10. Thanks for all the advice. I will definitely give the seatpost a try, I was just nervous that the carbon seatpost might break or break the frame?
  11. Hi Hubbers, I have recently bought the Tork Craft Bicycle repair stand to do minor work on my MTB. I have a carbon frame which is pretty thick and I cannot get the frame clamp from the stand to hold the bike firmly and it keeps working its way loose and almost falling out the stand. The clamp has red "boots" that hold the frame but they are at the wrong angle( the 90* clamp angle sits on the flat top tube part of the frame and not on a corner where it would hold firmly). I also obviously don't want to over tighten the clamp and damage the frame. I know I probably should have spent 3/4 times more and bought a Park Tool stand, however if someone has a clever suggestion to make this work I would appreciate it! Thanks
  12. Have you tried Morningside Cycles in Sandton?
  13. How about a 7:00 start, meet at Holla? I will be in a Silve X3 with GP number plates. Private message me if you need directions to Holla?
  14. I am also up from JHB and looking at riding at Holla on Saturday morning(21/12/13). Looking to do 45/50km if any other Hubbers are keen to meet up and turn the legs let me know?
  15. Whattingh, you are correct that I saw that article, but he too has no solution other than "buy a new rack"
  16. Hello Fellow Hubbers, I wanted to know if any of you out there have had the misfortune of the tilt feature on your Thule rack stop working? This normally occurs when the latches (attached pic) stop latching...... Please let me know if any of you have had this problem and if you managed to resolve it?
  17. Edge 510 = 767m / 66km's
  18. I was unsure of my navigation capabilities until I was forced to use them at this years Tour de Tuli which has very dense bush and is quite remote, so there are not that many proper trail lines or tyre marks to follow! I uploaded the .gpx files to my Garmin Edge 510. You need to play around with it a bit to get used to the zoom factor (if you are too close in it seems you are always off course) and also set the scrolling screens so you do not miss crucial turns when the screen is changing view. If you have the chance, download a local route or 2 and go testing a bit. Might also help to turn down the screen brightness on longer days so you don't run out of battery!!! I also had to do a slight file conversion to get the supplied .gpx file to work correctly, all I can advise is don't leave your navigation testing for day 1.
  19. I personally noticed a lot more litter than normal on this race? The strange thing was that a lot of the Gel packs were still full, so I am not sure if all of it was intentional? Nevertheless it is still litter and not what we want to leave behind as riders??
  20. We are keen to come back this weekend and show our friends what they missed out on, I see there are 55km trails, what sort of ascent will we get on 55km? I also see someone mentioned you were forced to make last minute changes? I got around 62km on my Garmin, did I miss a marker or would that be about right due to a change in route?
  21. I also found it tough! Hot, hilly and dusty but lekker- that is why I don't ride on the road! By the way what distances did you guys get on your GPS for the Marathon?
  22. At the beginning of May we posted news of the Bike Jacker that we apprehended on the Spruit at the bottom of Peter Place. I thought a positive update to this case would be necessary! On Monday this case went to the courts and the suspect was sentenced to 10 years in prison with a further 5 years suspended! Hopefully news of this will spread and any other guys considering bike jacking would not be so keen after hearing this!
  23. Is there anyone else out there that has a similar issue? When I do a session (1 hour or so) on my IDT, my "sit bones" start hurting and the session becomes a lot less pleasant than it should be. However I can do a normal out ride for 3/4 hours and not have any problem like this? Is it because I am in 1 position for the whole time (not moving around on the saddle etc) or could it be a possible change in the angle of the bike when it is on the trainer? Any advice would be appreciated?
  24. For those of you who haven't yet ridden Van Gaalens, here is a taste of what you can expect! MTB Awesomeness....
