  1. Careful - some might agree and follow your lead...
  2. https://avalonking.com/blog/breaking-down-the-car-wash-soap-vs-dish-soap-debate/ Keep using dishwashing liquid buddy... Enjoy... I simply cannot understand this philosophy of "i can and will use dishwashing liquid for everything"... You're not doing yourself any favours not are your even saving money...
  3. Dishwashing liquid is FULL of salt - that's what makes it so thick - salt is not good for your bike.
  4. Agree with Eddie - unless I need to take my bike to the shop for something I wash myself - best way to find loose spokes, cable wear, slightly noisy bearings, etc... On the subject, please don't use dishwashing liquid... I changed to this stuff a year or two ago and now we use it for the cars, floors and kitchen / bathroom counters - it's brilliant : https://stealthhealth.co.za/product/ecologic-bulk-5l-with-750ml-trigger-pop-top/ Home mix into different dilutions for drivetrain and general bike / wheels.
  5. @Danger Dassie - What chatter have you heard about leeuwkop? They're currently not very inviting...
  6. Also DOUBLE your price quickly... it confirm that it USD$ 11,500 not ZAR...
  7. You can use my paypal account "ekisniefokkendomnie"
  8. I always ask them to confirm the item they enquired about as I have many adverts. They can't answer this as they've responded to hundreds.
  9. Have fun... Keep increasing your price...
  10. The jumps at the climbing end - 42 to 50/52 is absurd.
  11. Agreed
  12. Agreed - I know lots of people with SRAM AXS now putting on XTR cassette because of the better gear ratios.
  13. I don't look at RPM - I look at gearing. Similar but different perspective. For what you're saying, I've would have to pedal faster - not ideal. I'm currently riding XTR 10-51 with 34 up front and considering changing to 36 for JHB riding because up here I can live with 0.71 smallest ratio but the 36 will give me 3.6 on the largest ratio. Even with a 34 up front, with 11-50 at the back your largest ratio drops to 3.1 where you'll run out of gears very quick on a flat gravel road section. For coastal riding I would but change higher than 34 because I need the 0.67 small ratio.
  14. Yes but there's other cassettes (like sram NX) and sunrace that go from 11-50 ...
  15. I think shimano microspline and XT cassette 10-51. You must also look at gearing as IMHO you don't want an 11 sprocket - 10 smallest is an NB otherwise you lose to much on the flats.
  16. See my comment above - I've ridden both - Mezcal any day over Saguaro... Much faster rolling...
  17. The Saguaro is actually not a fast rolling tyre at all. In fact it's almost the opposite. At 2.25 you should not be losing grip - maybe try slightly lower pressures. The Mezcal is the very fast rolling & low resistance cousin to the Saguaro.
  18. Excuse the long post guys but this topic and brands mentioned are constant discussions in my head. Specialized do themselves an injustice by shipping bikes with that stupid 2.1 fast track at the back. Mine lasted less then 10 rides before the sidewalk tore. I wasn't surprised though as I was going to change it anyway - much too slim at 2.1 and it had zero traction. I did however change the front tyre from new bike day also to the ground control but I put on the 2.3 GRID. Kicking myself for not checking what the standard rear tyre was and changing that also. Historically I've used your Vittoria combo exactly but the Cape Cobra versions, on both mine and my wife's bikes for years. Although both bikes were running older (narrower) rims to what's standard today and I don't believe that the narrower rim actually provided the best benefits of the larger volume tyre. If i look at the 2.3 volume tyre on my new bike compared to the 2.35 on my wife's bike, mine looks double the size.! And hence better planted on the trail... Mass of the tyre is not everything and I despise sidewall tears as they're a "ride-stopper" 90% of the time, hence the GRID or Cape Cobra essential versions. I used 2 plugs and ductape to get back to Broadacres from Bidon on that 2.1 fasttrack but I got there (remarkably). Also, Vittoria introduced their Graphene coating / compound a few years ago which was a game changer for the rolling resistance of their tyres, reducing this considerably and putting them in the top (or bottom by number) 10 (or less ? I think 6). For me, strong tyre wall, good grip and low rolling resistance are critical, more so than mass. So, this combo then all the way : * Front: Vittoria Barzo CC (2.35) * Rear: Vittoria Mezcal CC (2.25) HOWEVER, when I replaced my rear a month or so ago, I really didn't want different brand tyres Front / Rear and I'm VERY impressed with the 2.3 GC so I decided to try the wider fast track (2.3) with GRID and i must say that i am now very impressed with the combo that I have currently : * Front: Spez Ground Control (2.3) GRID * Rear: Spez Fast Trak (2.3) GRID Then we also have to consider cornering grip and climbing traction : The Mezcal at the rear is legendary, I climbed steep loose/ rocky single track where other tyres just spin out (obviously pressure now also comes into play). But the wider FT hasn't let me down yet on this kinda stuff also. Both combinations feel great on cornering but I'm now on wider rims with the Spez than a was with the Vittoria and newer bike geometry, etc. But I was happy with Vittoria before and am equally with Spez now. Going forward, if the tyres were priced the same, I'd probably stay with my Spez combo as its working great but the Vittoria are soo well priced (when on special) at about R600 a tyre that you simply cannot beat that combo. PS : I'm not a Maxxis fan at all - rode their tyres for about 10 years when there wasn't much else - they're OK but not great when looking at the overall picture. Hate Schwalbe - you show them a stone and they split.
  19. I believe cycle lab are open
  20. I'm sure I warrantee replacement is in order - contact your LBS
  21. And don't forget that most retailers were discounting the kickr4 to R18k prior to lockdown... As per other comments above, I'm waiting to pick up a 3 month old (hardly used) kickr4 for R12k about a month or 2 after we're all allowed out... And then the new prices will start to be heavily discounted...
  22. Hi - the one bottleneck was to cross the wooden bridge in order to get to the start of the race - the other bottleneck in the race was to cross the river where it was very steep up the opposite embankment - about 5km into the 15km race. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
  23. So at the last minute, literally 7:30am on Sun morning my son (4 & 1/2) and i decided to enter the 15km race with him on his half wheeler. We packed, drove, arrived, unpacked, kitted up and arrived at registration at 8:55 (man it takes long to get him kitted up) to be told that we were too late to register. However, all the ladies with BIG smiles told us to ride anyway but that we wouldn't be timed. Not aiming for a podium anyway, this suited us perfectly. In many years I have done many races and I really must commend the organisers on a really fun event with a very decent route. Of course the bottle neck to cross the bridge was a nuisance and the race slightly delayed but all the RED-shirt helpers were so full of smiles and happy to help, both before and after the race. My little boy had such a ball that he was already asking me on Monday when the next race is happening. He got his own medal, orange water bottle and a sucker and had the best morning ever. Very few races are so chilled and orientated around kids and families. I really wish there were more like this on the calendar - in fact, you guys should put this on once a quarter and not once a year. Just one comment though - the water stop on the 15km race could've been better suited to all the kids - biscuits, sweets, chips, boiled potatoes.... Thanks guys...
