  1. My husband and I did Adventure. Day 1 & 2 awesome. Happy to have survived Day 3 without any incidents. Never rode so much mud before. Not yet sure what the damage on the bikes are.

  2. What an inspirational report. Well done to the Slowbees!

My husband and I also did the Adventure. Day 2 was most enjoyable for me this year. Day 3 was tough. My husband stopped to help guys fixing their bike 10 km before wp2. Standing still in the rain was freezing.

A Big Whoyaaa! to Mrs Slowbee for finishing Day 3.

We saw men with fancy expensive bikes that got off and pushed ... or just without warning got off in the trail making it difficult to navigate the mud as to not crash into them.

If my hubby says : "let's do it again " I say : "Ja, let's do it again " [emoji2]

  3. welcome back Zoo Cookie. Nice bike. Where are the pics of the road bike ? And how come no couch?

Hubby spoiled me with this beautiful Trek after my trusty old plaashek Merida 26"hardtail got stolen (now, that is what you call an upgrade)[emoji16]

Road bike is still in storage. May come out for Panorama tour next month.

    Forgot all about the couch.

  4. Ok. So I am at the biokinetist, who is making me do things, well that should not be done, and I submit myself voluntarily to this pain.

The hip extension moves that someone else watching must be thinking I am practicing for some karma sutra competition. Its just plain nasty !

Anyway - by ffffaaaaaaaarrrrrrrr the worst thing has to be the 25 min on this machine.

I have been on it only twice. And after those 25 min I am close to tasting lunch twice in one go. Man the pain in trying to walk after is terrible. I can hardly take any steps without immense pain in the quads. It is raw sheer hell. Because it involves resistance, you try to stop the pedal stroke. Bliksem its hell. And then the thing pedals backwards as well - so you have to really concentrate.

But on the up side, at least my back is doing better. Bring on the weekend, 20km ride. If my legs make it to then.

In his book, the Great Run, Braam Malherbe, contribute a lot of their success to the use of the grucox machine. They ran some 4000+ km in just over 3 months along the Great Wall of China back in 2006.

  5. My first Sani.

Ladies showers. Big problem. Please fix that!!! The rest i can put up with.

Long day 2 . All you want to do is get cleaned up. About to start a nice shower youve been looking forward to since wp2. Just to get there. And not even cold water to wash off the sweat and dust...

Deal breaker. I wont be rushing back.

  6. I have done it twice and would love to do it again. Really nice event. A lot of climbing. How hard depent on yourself - if you want to race it or just cruise along. Us back markers enjoy the shooters and pizza lasts waterpoint on day 3. Just do it! You wont be sorry.
