  1. I don't have that problem. I am married to a boeremeise born in Calvinia. I would get serious backchat if the meat is not ready on time. And if we do not braai chops at least once every 2 weeks she walks around with a nervous twitch and a bad attitude. Then she is also a redhead to boot.
  2. On another note. My Siberian Husky gets the hiccups quite often. Is this normal?
  3. Think about putting some hidden casters under the TV cabinet. Biggest problem I see is dust and kiddie crap (Lego parts and marbles) gathering under our current TV cabinet, and the thing is such a schlep to move so that the floor can be cleaned underneath. Not only that, it will make it easier to fiddle with the cables at the back.
  4. Have Moody's now also downgraded our Cricket? http://www.sport24.co.za/Cricket/Proteas/proteas-make-test-golden-duck-history-20170801
  5. 18mm What wood are you using for the drawer sides and back? Also ply? I wanna make cabinet for my TV and AV equipment.
  6. That's them fancy carbon bottle cages for ya which should really only be used on roadies.
  7. Same problem every year. All we are now missing on the race feedback is complaints about bikes being stolen at the race or from cars at the race...
  8. Yes. Poor turnout for such a brilliant race.
  9. At least they are not running the 50km over the Wannabee trails where we had lots of mud and grass 2 years ago. I believe the new 50km is better, though I have not ridden it yet. Yes, my son also complained about a certain hill in the middle of the 42km, and I know he CAN climb. He did not have to walk though. If you want a race with lots of ST, then the 40km race we had last year at Boschendal (around September) will be your ticket. Look out for another one this year, though I have not heard of it yet.
  10. Was gonna ask which route. See you answered indirectly.
  11. Now imagine you connect that awesome back-end software system with the more advanced hardware. Man, I am looking forward to doing next year's 24 Hours Of Oak Valley with that new system. No more mis-tagging when you are half asleep. Pressure! As to the race. My eldest, who did the 42km, says that yesterday's 42 felt tougher than last year's 42. Who can concur? Or is he talking bollocks to his old man just because he is unfit from playing too much online games with his mates? Next year I am doing the 60km with him. Still upset about having to sit this year out, especially with the good weather yesterday.
  12. Ah, I love the complexities of dev work. Shifting goalposts and hidden/undocumented requirements/limitations. I have to make a complex financial transaction work over USSD with a 160 character limit per message and no guarantee of delivery. I understand your pain.
  13. Bastards. Karman, is there not a way the system can be updated when the riders tag in when they enter the batch at the start? Also, last year some young guns started in the first batch for their race, even though they should have started in the later batches. Screws up the whole timing system. I am going to be nasty now. Time that Amarider/Dirtopia invest in a timing chip that can be read from a longer distance. This watch timing chip is really irritating, especially at the finish when riders sprint for a position and the ladies scream at them to slow down to tag in. This will solve the starting batch problem when you have a sensor at the start. Surely they must have the capacity to do this now?
  14. Every year the Dirtopia results is a mess. It is quite obvious that the first 3 riders in the 42km results would not have been able to ride that race at that speed. Unless they rode e-bikes and did not tell the organisers.
  15. I had to sit this one out with wifey. My 2 sons rode. We have some budgetary constraints after a tiling job in our home went way over budget.
  16. I have done this. Used bunch of pine lap boards, fastened to the mating cleat.
  17. Keep the tag, it is linked to your name now on the Amarider and Dirtopia system.
  18. Could never figure that one out. My houtwerk onnie also. His nickname was Besembek, but hell, he could swing a lat and get moerig easily. Don't the blades take a harder beating from planing the wood? I can understand if the bench was made from anything but wood.
  19. I also would like to know. Here in Strand WD40 or Q20 helps close to buggerall. I have now resorted to store my tools in plastic containers with lids. My planes all live in a cupboard in our home. Wifey don't mind.
  20. Mini Savage is doing the 42km.
  21. CNC routing a whole hobby on it's own. Have investigated that before. Looked at source for the aluminium extrusions for the frame, the NEMA 34 stepper motors, the controllers and the actual spindle motor. Whole new rabbit hole here.
  22. I need a bigger home also, but around here I am stuffed. The market is crazy right now with the invasion of gatvol vaalies. And they all like to stay at the sea when they arrive. That is until the South Easter decides to explain to them why Strand and Gordons Bay property prices are much lower than Somerset West proper and Stellenbosch.
  23. Pants Boy bragging? No way! Looks good. Pants Boy probably up to his knees in mandust. BTW, why the f do kitchen installers insist on using chipboard for toe kicks. My cupboards live a hard life with kids around for the past 10 years and the toe kicks have swelling and the oak veneer is peeling off as a result. Lekker moering ekke.
  24. I need to do that also. I stopped watching when Jon Snow was 'killed' off. I was too upset with the TV series taking it's own direction.
