  1. Nope. That is just the snowflakes crying about the wind.
  2. I am more concerned about the snowflakes cancelling the race due to safety concerns. In that case last year would have been my last CTCT ever. I actually love riding into a headwind. It keeps me cool.
  3. I saw lots of dads with their youngsters.
  4. I was loafing a bit today. Only did the 20. Used my son's HT for the LOLs. 1h10 starting from the C batch. You know their seeding sucks when I came 60th in the race, and my group position was 29th. Lots of C batch riders in the top 50.
  5. Thank heavens I opted to take my motorbike for a spin to collect the number stickers. Traffic from Strand through Stellies was a nightmare. Felt so awesome to filter through that parking lot on the road.
  6. Aye. Your goggles might be taking the flight to the front when you turn at Smits. That is if those snowflakes that controls the race allows us to ride when there is a bit of a breeze.
  7. Yup, I think your riding glasses have more wind resistance.
  8. Until you need to do that drop over the rock! It's not easy. The entry is very slippery with the sand.
  9. I am going to the GOTO Java conference in Copenhagen in November this year, so hopefully I will be able to fly in one of those.
  10. CTCT might have to have a revisit on their pricing, then they might sell all their entries once more.
  11. It's odd. My seeding index did not really change this last year, yet for this race I dropped down from 3D for last year to 3G this year. Same thing happened to my son. He was hit harder. Down from 1E to 2A.
  12. Darkness is not the only thing you will have. Imagine no internet. No traffic lights either.
  13. https://ewn.co.za/2019/02/13/cyril-ramaphosa-has-been-sabotaged-by-eskom-s-executive-says-cosatu-s-zingiswa-losi I hope they realise that if Eskom goes FUBAR then the job losses will be much more severe. The tax paying public can't keep on funding a bloated entity with a salary bill that outstrips it's income.
  14. Also want to add that I don't think this was orchestrated by the management of Eskom, but by the unions following the split up news. Ramaphosa's reaction about the load shedding was tell tale. He was furious and shocked (lol), If it was a management thing about the fee increase, his reaction would have been different as he would already know about it from the regular meetings between the ministry and the management. Pravin would have known what was about to happen. Also, 'technical problems' shows that this is something under control by the workforce.
  15. It's a political power play. They are showing Ramaphosa who is really in control. I for one, do not swallow this technical problems BS the week following Ramaphosa's speech. Where were the technical issues the week before?
  16. BTW, my turn to be screwed today starts in an hour.
  17. Ramaphosa has a hard decision to make: Privatise Eskom now and face the wrath of the unions, or not and face economic ruin when we have no more power. Every SOE under full control of government has collapsed. Eskom is next.
  18. Eskom has been in this death spiral for a while now. The more people get electricity from illegal connections, the less income they will get, forcing them to increase the price for those willing to pay, forcing even more illegal connections. And that is just one part thereof. You have a plane in a flat spin, and not one competent pilot in sight.
  19. Was my son's first race in the Elite field as he will be 19 in 2 months time. Halfway I did not bother to ask him how it was going, I just passed him the water or juice. At least he did not have a spill or technical. But now he knows how it is to race against the best in the world. He just says he is going to hit the gym harder every day. He is still hungry and loves the XCO format.
  20. The whole B line up to the point where it joins at the bottom. That question was asked at the briefing and duly answered by the commissaire.
  21. Most important info is that the A line at the top (Bone Crusher) will only be open for Junior Men and Elite Men. All other categories (including vets) will be forced to take the B line. Decision was taken by the UCI race commissaire after a bunch of falls on the Bone Crusher today, resulting in 3 broken shoulders. And when seeding you have to enter the chute at the back. If you enter from the front you will be DQ'd.
  22. Because in general boys like stuff and girls like people. In general, that is.
  23. Don't want to be funny, but it looks like we will have some thundershowers on Saturday. 30 predicted with cloud cover and rain? Guess the humidity will be sky high.
  24. Time to get a dog?
