  4. Yes, lots of vagrants especially between Bryanston/Riverside Bridge and PnP. Plan is to have regular raids by Police (think one or two raids already done in the last few months). By cleaning up the area it is hoped that these vagrants will move away as their shelters are being destroyed. It is a process......in the meantime take care and always be vigilant. RIde in numbers!
  5. Lots of cleanup has happened, in fact new trails have been built as well along the Bryanston/Riverclub areas. In fact, there is another cleanup this coming weekend: http://www.facebook.com/CleanSpruit?hc_location=stream lots of runners/walkers and cyclist during the week - weekends is peak hour traffic

  9. Stoopid question but where do you put the battery pack?
  10. I am currently in Tel Aviv, Israel, and you see cyclists everywhere. They ride them on the road, on pavements jumping between the two as it pleases them, some commuters others recreational. Hell, they even ride the 2 wheel push scooters (some electric) in the street as a form or transportation. You never see motorists hooting at them, never see any accidents.......they just co-exist on the road/pavement. Why can't we just all get along in SA?
  11. Motorists (including us) first need to tolerate each other on the road - only then can we expect tolerance towards cyclists. Currently we have zero tolerance in SA society, therein lies the problem!
  12. I agree with this, specially with the long grass at certain sections you can't see if there is a hole/ditch and travelling at speed downhill I do not feel like any surprises. It is easier for someone going up hill to move out of the way.
  13. Hells Bells, who is having this clearance sale? Good deal
  14. Yeah, and on that note - was riding the spruit on Sunday and saw two guys riding without helmets. I made a comment about it and their reply was "why, i have never ridden with a helmet on in my life why must i start now".............
  15. BIke was stolen .....
  16. No, not a picture of the bike as he didn't have one to give me. I just got that from the web

  19. Currently I have a Tacx IDT with my Roadbike on it and is working fine when I do use it. Now the wife wants us to get a spinning bike so that she can do some training as well so now I am looking for suggestions. Something that both of us can use, possibly with power meter? Any suggestions on what to look for? Don't really want to break the bank with a cycleops pro trainer any ideas? thnx
  20. I have an FS-Pro - awesome machine
  21. and I thought I was the only one thinking that, especially listening to Phil & Paul but then again maybe they were just being polite. I think Evans is an average rider compared to the other GC conenders and was lucky last year and the reason it might seem boring this year is due to lack of contenders. But don't take anyhting away from Team Sky - they are good.
  22. Well if they only want stage wins and drop out because they can't handle it, maybe they should be more selective in their races and concentrate on the one day classics. The grand tours are 3 week events and the aim is to finish it, not pick up a stage win and drop out.
  23. Yeah, also heard he might pull out after 2 weeks for the Olympics. Think his stage wins should only count if he finishes the tour. A few years ago Tom Boonen did the same, got a few stage wins and then pulled out to recover for some other event
  24. damm, my typing is bad
