  1. Anyone have the route for the 70km on garmin maps or google?
  2. I would say, start with 3 day stage races easiest to difficult if you haven't done any stages races yet like (easy to difficult): Sani2C mankele W2W GR300 Then go to easier but longer stage races: KKK (5 days), Joburg2C, maybe the Cape Pioneer if you want to practice racing. Also add a lot of long road training and 3x spinning classes for endurance, cadence and strength purposes eg. kremetart, jock etc Just a suggestion.
  3. No comment, but won't forget the Sani 2011
  4. I dunno, I have XT and SRAM X9 and prefer SRAM. No tuning needed for months and the gears remain true and they are very rugged and easy to tune.
  5. Bwhahahahaha clever, not married fortunately
  6. Some of the teams stay in chalets and at other places so normally there are tents open. However, we also rode mixed last year and I shared a tent with my partner, almost exactly 12 months later we are still together and it all started at the sani 2011
  7. Sorry, my mistake. I was refering to the Sondela MTB race.....
  8. Overall this is a very flat route, just a "bit" of sand the first few kays.....
  9. Nice video!!! Why didn't you take the ramp @ 2:03???
  10. Great choice and awesome frame. I lost a KHS and is still sad about it.
  11. Also went there 3 times now and it's really very good and an interesting course. It's basically n 20km route with a floating bridge, drops etc. Food is also excellent!
  12. If I had to choose between SRAM and Shimano for my road bike I will choose campag.
  13. Aprils Fool??? Between my GF and I we have 5 bikes, 2x road bikes(one SRAM Force and the other Shimano) and 3x MTB's(all with SRAM) and had no problems what so ever with SRAM. Did 2x Sani2C's, 1x W2W(Very Wet) and 1x Garden route 300 on the 2 bikes with the same SRAM Groupset and the groupsets have now about 8,000km on them each with no replacements yet, bit of tuning every 6 months or so and brake pad replacements as per normal but they are rock solid. I think I might be something else, maybe your frame Geometry, BB, chain for that matter or your riding(you). or maybe it's because it's not an Cannondale... Burry won the Epic with SRAM so its definitely not the groupset....
  14. Respect!!!
  15. Rimz actually meant "get a real bike like Cannondale"
  16. Perhaps they can keep the groups and intervals the same but make the front groups, lets say to H, much smaller and the back groups larger. The back groups just enjoys the Argus and can be bigger but the front groups must be reduced.
  17. I was in the D group and it was really crazy. In the beginning we had a lot of start & stops(noobs braking unnecessary), then one guy went through the cones at Hospital bend, then the guys started to pass on the left on the CURB and squeezed themselves in when the curb ended which caused another accident, then 4 or 5 crashes during the first 40kms, then one later at about 60km followed by another one shortly after and the one at the end. I probably saw about 10 crashes, if I had my cycling cam on I could've sold the footage for a few bucks, really some first class crashes over the bars. I just tried to finish this Argus, it just wasn't worth a good time...D anyways didn't get any sub-3's....
  18. If your cellphone has GPS you don't need much more. I think youve covered it.
  19. Hi KnobbyMech I've added the Isuzu 3 Towers as requested, it seems that the GR300 is still a bit cheaper but the 3 Towers is only about R10/km which is less than the Cape Pioneer. Please see revised graph. Nice addition to the whole thing, thanks for the suggestion! Ciao, Jannneman
  20. Updated with Joberg2C
  21. Good point, will add J2C
  22. Who cares about water bottles? We get so many of them in goody bags that we chuck them after every 3rd or 4th race....or if its empty and the wind is strong during the race...
  23. Well, for one the Epic and Pioneer are much of a muchness just the Pioneer is a lot cheaper. The rest is for interest sake, the Garden route is much harder of the 3 day stage races than the others etc.
  24. Apparently 3 day MTB races are called stage races and events such the Epic and Cape Pioneer which more than 6 days are called multi-stage races. Have a look at the video's posted on youtube..... If you google for it only the cape pioneer and epic comes up: http://www.google.co.za/search?sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=multi+stage+race#pq=multi+stage+race&hl=en&cp=5&gs_id=3&xhr=t&q=multi+stage+mountain+bike+race&pf=p&sclient=psy-ab&safe=off&source=hp&pbx=1&oq=multistage+race&aq=0b&aqi=g-b1&aql=&gs_sm=&gs_upl=&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_cp.,cf.osb&fp=d1362685be459c5b&biw=1920&bih=955
